I'd have a portable and hit all 5 spots you listed over the winter. I like the change of scenery idea myself. However, if I have to pick one it would be Simcoe as well. You might get more use out of the hut (mid week escapes) if it's closer to home though.

Planning on "pre-fishing" Quinte over the next couple of weeks before the main event.

Well since I'm not fishing today I decided to get some stuff done around the house. Upon doing so I discovered a small leak in my storage area. Wondering if anyone has had some recent work done that they are happy with and would recommend anyone in the Durham region for repairs? Would like to get someone to look at it this week. Thanks.

Well that sucks. Like many others here, I know what you are going through. Not easy loosing a best friend and family member but the memories will help you get through it. Sounds like Oscar had a great family taking care of him for such a long life.
