  2. I was always old school and never got into the high end electronics, just a basic GPS for marking spots and caught fish and and tracking my drifts and 2 very basic sonars, one on the bow and another on the console to show depth and weeds. I always found it more fun trying to figure out where the fish should be and then go and get them. To each their own and nothing against anyone using electronics to find fish but to me that's taking most of the enjoyment out of catching them. I kept things basic and usually did very well on the water.

  3. It's almost getting to that point now, there's hardly any learning about actual fishing anymore, just about how to use the tech. Tournaments are already limiting what tech can be used, I'd love to see it become even more stringent or even to the point where in certain tourneys none can be used and then you'd really see who the best anglers are.

  4. The processors in the HB units are powerful enough to run Mega Live 2 without requiring a black box

  6. improvements will simply be range and target separation for the next bit IMO, the fact that Garmin has 2 transducers for different ranges...someone is going to fix that with the swiftness. Be it a frequency function change, or perhaps just a transducer that is a little wider with a cone selection, similar to choosing your frequency for side imaging for more range...or just figuring out how to stitch all of that together.

  7. Izzy developed bladder cancer. I'd take her for a walk, and she'd stop every few feet to try and pee. Vet said she had a tumour the size of a baseball in her bladder....very aggressive and had already spread to her other organs. The vet put in a catheter to give her a few more days (she was in pain) so my kids could come home to say good bye...they were in university at the time...one in Kingston and one in BC. We all had one last weekend at the cottage with her...and then Monday, we all went to the vet to hold her that final time. The saddest part of of having dogs as family members is that we as humans generally out live them...

  8. Brook was also a Collie cross CM, Border and Sheltie, smart as a whip and like Izzy, was also a rescue pup. She came down with sinus/brain cancer and only lived a few months once diagnosed. Numerous trips to Guelph sadly could not buy her any more time. I eventually had to take her to emergency the evening of the 16th, some 15 hours ahead of a scheduled euthanization to end her suffering. She was 11.5 years of age.
