  1. A year ago this coming October I made a one of a kind reel seat and butt cap from a Blue Spruce cone. They ended up on a Walleye rod for my SIL. Well I have been tasked with doing it again for Sage Float Rod build. First time...... And round two fresh out of the pressure vessel this morning.....

  3. Just an fyi to expand your options for a used rod, an extra heavy bass flipping rod will get you by in a pinch. They are typically 8 feet long and have enough power for kawarthas musky. and yes, the Komodo does what it needs to do just fine. I can’t speak a ton regarding the longevity because I haven’t done a ton of musky fishing lately but I’ve been using it to throw A rigs in the fall on a MH st croix musky rod and it hasn’t caused me any issues yet.

  5. If I was fishing the Kawarthas I'd probably pick up something in the 8-9ft range, med heavy at most. You don't need a pool cue for those fish and it's way easier on you casting big baits all day. My fav rod is a 9'6 telescopic MH Legend Tournament. Makes figure 8s a breeze and loads up and helps me bury hooks. Along with all the rods/reels/lures you need to make sure you've got a proper net and release tools (Especially hook cutters), jaw spreader, etc. Handling these fish properly will have the biggest impact on them going back unharmed.
