FYI Barrie homebuilders derby will be a draw event

Heard this afternoon the fishing part of the even has been cancelled due to the lack of QUALITY ice. The event will be a draw prize event.

The Tournament WILL GO TO A DRAW With public safety concerns being at the forefront, along with the recommendation from the Fire Marshall, we are making the decision to not have the fishing component of the tournament take place. The current ice conditions on Kempenfelt Bay do not support a safe environment for the participants.

Im sure it had nothing to do with the fire marshall. It had to do with only having 3-5 inches of ice and over 500+ holes augered. INSURANCE.

Good call spent many tournaments at the sscc, man they made a pretty good breakfast inside, they almost had a draw one year when I was still there, I remember some of the group sponsering the event would meet us out on the ice to sell us tickets ,,,during its infancy, used too think upon their approach that they were co,s in disguise lol

Almost bought a ticket this year a few weeks ago...then I looked at forecast. Maybe I will come up next year. Came in 48th place the first year I entered...nearly won the boat!

My first year was when Chris King held it. Full contact fishing. I won a chain saw for a 1.3 perch. 1st fish brought in.LOL
