kickingfrog Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 Never really was speedy and speed is the first thing to go as we age.
jbailey Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 he's 38, but he's an ageless wonder! he should be on the team
manitoubass2 Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 Big mistake leaving out st louis imo
kickingfrog Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 With his gm picking the team it's not like he wasn't considered. He didn't make the 2010 team either.
jbailey Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 Yzerman apparently excluded himself from the St.Louis discussions.
BillM Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 No Giroux? No love for the boy from Hearst?
jbailey Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 I'm not sure PK's reward is worth the risk. Doesn't mean he doesn't get named, just not sure he'll play much. Funny, we usually have not enough Right hand D-men this year it seems like it is the other way. They said if PK makes the team he would have been the 7th or 8th man.
jbailey Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 No Giroux? No love for the boy from Hearst? He's a great player, I think his slow start ruined his chances (as well as the ridiculous depth at C)
kickingfrog Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 Didn't hear him say that. Stevie wasn't his gm 4 years ago. We can disagree all day but this group knows hockey better then us.
jbailey Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 They said it a few times. Of course they know the game better, but doesn't mean we can't ponder or disagree with the decisions.. Its not like the players they chose were all locks, clearly there are a few players that could be subbed in or out.
jbailey Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 Overall, I really don't care, I'm just excited to see the team in action.
kickingfrog Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 They (tsn Duthie) did ask Stevie did you recuse yourself and he did not say that he did. Doesn't mean he didn't but the buck stops with him. Agreed that this isn't easy and until we have hockey in 5 weeks we've got nothin' else to do but .
lookinforwalleye Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 Well if not Price then who Brian??? and don`t tell me Bernier
muskymatt Posted January 7, 2014 Author Report Posted January 7, 2014 I think Subban is a big mistake, he's a showboater who lets his emotions drive his play. Watched the game last night and Subban tried to be a one man show, until he started running into his own players. So what's he going to be? A 7th or 8th guy who plays under 7 min a game? That will piss him off and he'll be a distraction to the rest. Let him mature a few years, then try him. Right now, he's too selfish, too unpredictable and a hot head who takes too many penalties.
misfish Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) Well if not Price then who Brian??? and don`t tell me Bernier Who has the better percentage? Who plays in front a 40 shot team and still wins? Bernier Give him a team in front of him and the wins will be easy. Price is no where near the top of his game. Either is Lego. I'll agree that Bernier is better than Remier but he shouldnt be on team Canada. Leafs had an easy first half schedule, now with tougher teams in the second half they are going to start losing games. Bernier won't be as good with a higher voulme of shot coming on net, especially in the olympics when everyone is a high calibre player. Mike Smith was a solid choice, i'm glad he was chosen. I wouldnt hesitate to throw him in net if Price starts to waver.

Okay since you asked...Carey Price has better numbers but it is not always about the numbers if it was Josh Harding, Brian Elliott and Ben Scrivens would be the goalies!!! And BTW Bernier avg. is 32 shots against and Price is 30
kickingfrog Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 Well if not Price then who Brian??? and don`t tell me Bernier Crawford, Flurry, Brouder for a start.
misfish Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 Well time will tell,AND YES, I like Smith better then the other two. Price will not be the answer.

While I am not a huge PK fan he is a very good player....I think he will be fine in the Olympic format and he will understand what his role is!!!
misfish Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 Crawford, Flurry, Brouder for a start. Only one pick from that trio Rob, Flurry.
kickingfrog Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 Markov isn't going to be around to cover for PK.
kickingfrog Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 Only one pick from that trio Rob, Flurry. All would be picked by me before price.
