danc Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 I spent the weekend camping on an island on Lake Nipigon. I've done this every August long weekend for the past 4 or 5 years. The sunset view from this island is always incredible at this time of year, so I made a point of bringing a couple of beers and my camera to the northwest side of the island to enjoy the view and to see what I could do with the camera. Here,s a couple of sunsets on different nights. One with a few clouds, one without. The evenings with a few clouds are the best. The entire scene changes every few seconds it seems. And I had some fun with the waves slapping the shoreline and slow shutter speeds. I think that these two shots are 30 and 40 seconds respectively.
BillM Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 Dan, really digging that third shot!!! The softness of waves with the hard light on the rocks really makes it pop!
Joey Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 Great shots Dan, I like the second shot the best
aplumma Posted August 2, 2011 Report Posted August 2, 2011 Looks like a good healthy trip for you Dan when you can slow down enough to photograph rocks your reaching the point of true relaxation. Art
danc Posted August 2, 2011 Author Report Posted August 2, 2011 Thanks for the comments guys. For the record, exposure time on the 3rd shot was 8 seconds and 20 seconds for the 4rth shot. Both @ F-22 with a polarizer.

On a more serious note, I might be heading up to Red Lake next week, and for several weeks after that. I'm gonna try to catch up with you on one of my passes through Dryden to collect that lunch that you owe me. Have a great rest of the summer my friend. Hopefully we'll hook up soon.
