Squid Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Yes I never did mention that I would wake up with headaches Lew. It was a common occurence for me due to the lack of oxygen to the brain. I am also a 95 times an hour waking up level with 20 secs or so of no oxygen to the brain. To be clear, the CPAC machine provides the patient with Continous Positive Air Pressure. THis is just filtered air and not oxygen. I am sure that the CPAC machine will help Sherrie tremendously.
adolson Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Anyway, the government does subsidize your first CPAP machine if purchased locally through an approved vendor (who will help with the paperwork). I thought I read that they'll pay their portion for one every five years, if needed (ie: may have to try repairing old one first).

Yep your entitled to a new one every 5 years. I got the same model and leave my old one at the cottage rather then carting one back and forth. Not that it's a big deal. It's the size of a loaf of bread..weighs maybe 5 LBS... and comes with a soft sided carrying case like a tackle bag. Just throw it over your shoulder and your off.
lew Posted July 28, 2011 Author Report Posted July 28, 2011 Thanks again folks, I sent a link to this post to my daughter today and she asked me to convey her thanks to you also. They've now given her a mask to try out and it'll be interesting to hear how she makes out with it.
bigreddog Posted July 29, 2011 Report Posted July 29, 2011 (edited) I think it's every 5 years -- but only if the machine no longer works. Edited July 29, 2011 by bigreddog
SRT8 smoker craft Posted July 29, 2011 Report Posted July 29, 2011 Thanks for posting this Lew. I have been suffering with what I think is sinusitis for a long time now. Had surgery to fix a deviated septum and my headaches/forehead pressure still persist. I think the next step will be a sleeping test as I definetely do snore and feel tired in the mornings. Exact same with me sinusitis treatment and surgery headaches for over 10 years and the CPAP has been the only relief (when I can wear it) my 1 year tune up/cleaning is in a week or 2 so I will see about a different full face mask but I'm gonna clean it right now and use it tonight cause my sinus is clear right now hope it helps you and Lews Daughter
