SlowPoke
We have a spot over the fireplace and we know what we want but can't find it. A worms eye view off a weathered dock. A rustic rowboat moored to the left of the dock with paint chipping, frayed mooring lines. Detailed but not the focal point. Maybe overhanging trees to the right of the dock. Morning mist on the water with a hint purplely/golden sunrise. Horizon/scenery obscured by mist but not blocked out; subtle. Any ideas?

lookinforwalleye
Don`t know if your familiar with Walter Campbell but I have his print called Morning Mist very nice, old cottage with a couple old cars and a man and his dog fishing off the dock. SlowPoke
Are these the shades you're looking for roughly? I know the season and content are wrong...but the tints? You got it Roy; we're looking for muted tones. Am I getting close? We're on the right track here. We debated this print but passed on it because of the perspective. The perspective in this image offers you the boats as the subject; we're looking for something less dominating, allowing your eye to find it's own subject. Very nice Dan. Not what we had in mind but worth consideration. An image like this is intriguing because it could offer a different feel depending on your mood. Inviting? Solice? Haunting? Tranquil? Desolate? I'll be showing the Mrs. Thanks for the other suggestions folks!
lew
Not exactly a worms eye view of the dock Brian, but it's in the picture along with the mist, tree & sunrise.
SlowPoke
Not exactly a worms eye view of the dock Brian, but it's in the picture along with the mist, tree & sunrise. You never miss an opportunity to 'rub it in' eh? It has some of the elements we're looking for; it just doesn't say what we want. I am considering going in another direction for that room. It's my wife's favourite room in the house and he favourite place to be is Sauble Beach. I might make a run up there for a photo shoot and see what I come up with. The fireplace mantel picture would be something like this: http://i703.photobucket.com/albums/ww31/Slicethearts/sauble.jpg ... but more of an artistic point of view, a little less drama and no flash on the street sign! I would then personalize the rest of the room with shots taken over the years. And then to top it off, a truck load of Sauble sand on the hardwood floors! The JAY
I've been looking for something to airbrush lately. Maybe I'll take a shot at painting along these lines.. Thanks for the inspiration!
