iceslayer Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 Well I had to do it. I hit a local pond this morning (off the dock) in search of some first ice crappies. All I found were a couple of largemouth that came into the Vexilar screen like a rocket and smoked that little jig.. Did it ever feel great pulling the ice fishing equipment out. Great day! Cheers
iceslayer Posted November 20, 2008 Author Report Posted November 20, 2008 Oops! Sorry 'bout the photo's.
bicephalic Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 Hey iceslayer - congrats on the first ice fish. It's a shame about all the no fishing signs around the docks/ice i posted yesterday - I'd be out trying to du0plicate your luck.

Rizzo Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 right on! I just checked out a local pond on my way home from work and it was iced over too. Only has snot-rocket pike in it, but for some reason I don't have an issue targetting dink pike if its through the ice. I just love watching that orange flag waving . couple more weeks and I'll give it a go
Wild Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Sign of a true die hard icefisherman, but then again looking at Rizzo's pic he has been ready since spring.
jdmls Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 that's awesome...looks like you just punched a whole through the ice with your boot !!!
JMahon Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 That's awesome! Sorry I was busy yesterday & couldn't make it out! But we'll for sure have to get together sometime soon! A few of us are headin out for some Steelies tomorrow mornin!! How's the foot?
iceslayer Posted November 21, 2008 Author Report Posted November 21, 2008 Foots doing better. Still in the cast though. So I can get around. Just slowly. Im gonna head back there tomorrow morning early. This pond only produces crappie early in the morning and just before dark. Just gett'n ice fishin was a hell of a treat, but I want a nice crappie lunch. Cheers
Rich Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 Not too often you can go ice fishing for largies legally! Good stuff! Looks like we may have plenty of ice on the ponds before Christmas. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
