Gerritt Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 these guys are icefishing for bait! http://www.japanprobe.com/?p=3515 G
wuchikubo Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 Cool link G. I've heard about catching smelt through the ice but wow that's awesome. Mmmm yummy bbq'ed smelt on the ice. However the price was a bit steep for fishing for smelt, about $8 for adults and $4 for kids. I'll have to check out the ice fishing tents when I visit Japan next time. Stan
Terry Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 you use to be able to fish for them in big numbers on simcoe but I like to kill clean and remove the head before I cook or eat them
pikeie Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 i was catching lots of smelt last year on simcoe, got into some good numbers as well.
Riparian Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 I just read an article in the latest In-Fisherman about this. They are my favourite pike bait.
mcallister.grant Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 I never knew that existed. Given the size of those fish, the rods must be extremely sensetive. I would like to get my hands on one for panfish. ( I may be completely wrong though :-), the rods could be the exact same as the ones that we use)
