Not sure what you guys are talking about. Thornhill has had nothing but blue sky and warm and cheerful weather. Proof is attached, wifey and I feeding the birds.

What do you do with your caught carp?
love2fishhave2work replied to wuchikubo's topic in General Discussion
Carp Gefilte Fish 4 pounds carp, ground 2 carrots, or 1 medium raw beet, peeled and grated 1 onion, ground 2 eggs, beaten 2 tablespoons horseradish, white or red 1 cooked egg, mashed 1 teaspoon salt Basic Fish Sauce. In blender whip up onion, eggs, and vegetables. Combine with ground fish and all seasonings. Mix well and set aside. Prepare Basic Fish Sauce, (water, onions, carrots, celery, and seasonings to taste) and heat to boiling. Form fish mixture into balls (wet hands with cold water), and drop carefully into 8 quart pot one at a time. When broth returns to a boil, lower flame, cover and simmer for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, depending on size of balls. Remove balls from liquid, arrange on a large serving platter with a slice of carrot on each, and pour on a bit of the sauce if you want an aspic. Chill. Yields 12-18 portions. -

New Boater - Boat Launch Advice and Etiquette
love2fishhave2work replied to love2fishhave2work's topic in General Discussion
Thanks again for all of the usefull advice, I never would have gotten this much detail from the marina where i purchased the boat. When i picked up the boat and trailer i forgot to ask about a spare tire. Are trailer tires universal? Would bass pro shops cary spares for all types of trailers? Is this a must item? -
New Boater - Boat Launch Advice and Etiquette

Fisherman could you please elaborate. When I picked up the boat they were very busy and did not spend any time with me on the little nuances. How do people secure the trailer from theft when it is in the driveway or as you said, parked near the dock? -
New Boater - Boat Launch Advice and Etiquette

Much appreciates, some very helpful hints of possible problems that i would have discovered the hard way. Thank you for taking the time. -
My series of questions in relation to boating equipment continues. I very much appreciated all of the past helpful advice. Picked up my new boat today. Man, what a rush. This is my first ever boat, 18 foot with 115 outboard. Parked it in garage on an angle, the neighbor was releived. Thanks again for that one. Now comes the hard part. Launching the thing. No doubt many of you here have seen guys like me struggle their first couple of times out. What would be greatly appreciated is some friendly advice and tips on what are the keys to a successful launch and unless i forget my plug, hopefully a loading of the boat. Also if there are some boating etiquette rules when it comes to launching and loading (like don't stand on top of the line of another golfer's put and things like that), they would be greatly appreciated. This way, when one or many of you run into me this spring on the boat ramp, your expletives will be kept to a minimum.

Just added my boat with Monnex over the phone.

I used to live in Windsor as a kid and fished from shore all the time. Got the bug early. This goes some 25 years ago. I remember being able to catch over 100 of those things in an hour. Can anyone comment on the current perch fishery in the river and also give some insight on the regulations these days (none existed back then) on the season and parts of the river if fishing from a boat. Since the shore walleye bite was always at night i never got to experience it, but would love to try if i head down there for a weekend in the coming weeks. Again, season and parts of the river locations would be great. Much appreciated.

I share your dilema and am stuck with the no boat in driveway by-law. Picking up my new boat on Friday and praying that the angle trick works. If not, me, my neighbor and my local by-law officer will be seeing alot of each other in the coming weeks. Thought that the toughest thing would be to convince my wife i needed the boat. That part seems pretty easy these days.

Do me favor, if you go, please wear some very protective clothing with a life jacket and some bright colors so that it is easier to spot you when I come looking for you on Monday in my new boat .

Best experience i ever had fishing. What a rush.

Time to increase the size of my lures when i pike fish.

You can't do better then a nippissing opener. Are you fishing the east part of the lake or the west part when you are there? I find that the east end is a much better walleye fishery in the spring.

I will be looking to pick up a GPS fishfinder for the driver consol of my new boat. Doing some research online tells me that all brands are roughly the same when it comes to their top line color GPS models. I am assuming that people here have their favorites. I would love to hear from you on what you use and why? Please help me pick a model. Thanks

West Arm Nipissing Early August Advice??
love2fishhave2work replied to carpe146's topic in General Discussion
Thanks irishfield for pointing that out. August is to early for the late season bite in general but does that not mean you won't catch one. Just a less likely time of year then June or late Sept through Nov. That said when i was fishing that area many years ago, musky's were caught in August. Best of luck. -
West Arm Nipissing Early August Advice??
love2fishhave2work replied to carpe146's topic in General Discussion
Look at the last post by irishfield. The last picture shows a bridge. On one side of that bridge is Lakair lodge. Right in front of the lodge before the bridge there is a red buoy. There is a sharp drop from a shelf from about 6 feet of water inside that buoy to 30 or so feet to wards the channel. Fish tend to congregate there in the morning and evening and you can pick up walleye and pike by jigging as well as other stuff like catfish and rock bass. If they are not biting there, move to the other side right in the middle of the channel. Bring leaches for walleye for that part of the season. As far as pike, there are two large bays, can't remember their name but you can pick off small pike in the weeds by casting anything shinny. As far as Musky i think it is to early in the season. -
Stayed at West Nippissing several times, although never in the summer. Pike action was very good. Fish around the bridge that is right next to the resort. Deeper water and cover seems to attract them. Will also catch tons of rock bass and catfish. If you drive to some of the bays that have rocky bottom you should get some smallies. No welleye there at that time of year. Ian is a great host and you should catch a lot of fish. Remember the best fishing is right next to the resort.

What part of Nippissing is that in?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, lots of smart and good advice. One thing i would like someone to comment on. I was told that when trailoring a boat, often the bearings on the wheels get worn and may cause the wheel to fly, hence I should keep extra sets in the car and watch for wobbeling. Has this happened to anyone?

does anyone know what type of lune that is?

My father in law is never going fishing with me again. He comes to withing wiskars of my face every single cast.
