I have been a number of times at different resorts. Stayed in Corbeu once, wow that is sad, very nice people. No wonder the brochures stopped coming. Also stayed at 3 seasons. Again a great operator. Always caught fish but no different then other places. Sometimes it was great and others not so much. You realy need to know the lake or get local help or else it is tough to fish. Lots of water and it all looks the same. It is a big deep lake which makes navigation with a small 9.9 hp rental tough. Most resorts offer portage opportunities for Pike and those have been good but very tough to get into, especially in the summer with all the mosquitos. Best of luck.

Lake Simcoe Whitefish
love2fishhave2work replied to love2fishhave2work's topic in General Discussion
Much appreciated, will give it a shot maybe this weekend. -
I am thinking of trying my hand at catching some Lake Simcoe Whitefish. While I know my basics with bass and pike on the lake, I have never fished for this species before and need some helpful advice from those who fish Simcoe for them. Is mid-summer fishing for whitefish ok or is this really a spring and fall fish for open water? What depth should I be focusing on if I was to try? Is jigging spoons the way to go or live bait? Any specific structure to look for on my electronics? Any particular part of the day produces better then others. Any advice would be appreciated and if you want to share an area that I should focus on or even a honey hole, please note I can be bribed.

I would agree with you that US system needs help. That said, I would much rather be an uninsured individual in the US then the person born and living in India or China that needs serious western level of health care. The thread started with someone calling Moore a genius for degrading the same country he exploits to sell his fictional movies. My point is Moore is a joke. End result, US system not perfect, neither is Canadian. Both need serious help. Let’s fish.

Right on cue; China executes ex-food and drug chief By ALEXA OLESEN, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 13 minutes ago China executed the former head of its food and drug watchdog on Tuesday for approving untested medicine in exchange for cash, the strongest signal yet from Beijing that it is serious about tackling its product safety crisis. The execution of former State Food and Drug Administration director Zheng Xiaoyu was confirmed by state television and the official Xinhua News Agency. During Zheng's tenure from 1998 to 2005, his agency approved six medicines that turned out to be fake, and the drug-makers used falsified documents to apply for approvals, according to previous state media reports. One antibiotic caused the deaths of at least 10 people................................. full story http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070710/ap_on_...F2Tqh6ezef9xg8F

Take a flight to India or China and take a drive across the country. Sad day when you think either Country is even close to challenging the US in any part of the economic or political sphere except for cheap call centers, burnt CD's and number of corrupt politicians and bureaucrats. While medicine in these countries may advance because they will use their own people unknowingly as lab mice to test a drug or a new machine, the US will simply import that technology or drug and hire away that doctor and research staff once it is there. When you see all of those documentaries of marvelous medical miracles in India by the westerner who could not afford health care in the US or receive good care in Canada, don't think there are not 10 behind him that went for surgery to their left leg and ended up with surgery to their right. In addition, I would ask the average Indian or Chinese if they are getting the same care as the American that came to pay for it. Last I checked there were tens of thousands of Indians, Chinese and my fellow Canadians moving to the US and not much traffic going the other way. Must tell you something. While they have some problems they have the most efficient markets and most transparent political system in the world. That allows for change and innovation that will always win vs. any economy and political system in existence today, especially in China or India. Even though it may not seem like it right now.

You are right about the paper. This is most likely an editorial. What would one expect the writter "President and CEO of University Health Network, Toronto" to say?
-
You are not getting my point. I am not talking about needing an MRI because you and your doctor know you have a history of seizures. I am talking about going to a doctor, complaining of stomach cramps, they can't find anything wrong with you and send you for a routine MRI. That line my friend will move slowly, maybe as long as 6 months. 6 months to someone who may be walking around with cancer is a long time. Friend of my wife died just because of that 5 months ago and that is not even the example i am ticked off about. Where you live plays a role in how quickly you get in. Again to everyone that has had a great experience with our healthcare system. That is great, you should not expect anything less. Frankly I would expect most people do. However, many have not and the reason they have not is because there is absolutely no accountibilty in our system to the patient. In addition, you cannot compare our healthcare system today to the one 10 years ago. Much has changed and it is not for the better. I am talking about the exceptions and not the rule. Thing is in my mind there should be no acceptable level of "oh well 95% of the people still get good treatment so what if we loose a few votes along the way" That my friend is a problem.

Sorry but your hypothesis is wrong. Nothing is more precious then a human life and the market will value that better then some politician. When companies are profit driven they bring efficiency into the system or they loose out to a competitor who is more efficient. On the other hand, politicians and buracrats play with people lives for votes and their personal jobs as opposed to what is in the individuals best interest. Then they drive accross the border to get treatment for themselves or call their buddy who is the surgeon or diagnostics administrator. It is the politician who decides on lives vs. money. How many lives do you think would be saved if people could get an MRI within 24 hours rather then 4 months for testing of unknown symptoms that could prove fatal due to the delay. Fact we have several hundred PET machines (full body scans for cancer and heart problems) sitting in storage because the Ontario government, the only government in the western world does not have enough clinical data on the machines benefit. Right. I guess money has nothing to do with that. BTW for $1500 you could go and get a scan by a PET in Mississauga this week. I thought everyone was equal under our system? I would like to think that my life and the life of my loved ones has a price and that it is very high. Why should i be able to pick which vehicle i want to drive, which TV i want to buy, what house to buy and who to get my mortgage from to get the best deal for myself but not have the same options when it comes to my health, the most precious thing to me. When the doctor knows that if you don't like their advice or treatment you can take your business elsewhere, trust me he or she will take effery effort to provide you with quality care. That is what i want. When our health administrators have to worry about where their salaries comes from we will all be better off. I will take capitalism any day of the week when it comes to my life. As for the guy who can't afford insurance, i will gladly pay for him through my premiums, just like i pay today for auto insurance which spreads risk accross all who use it and let that individual have the same ability to judge his or her health professional by controlling how that money is spent. Capitalism works, just need to know how to use it.

I am happy to hear that many people are receiving good quality healthcare. That is because the individuals providing that care are honorable, talented and responsible. Problem is when people in our healthcare system are not, then there is absolutely no accountability to anyone. That is wrong. Again, nothing great about the US systems, it has problems. Don't make the mistake of thinking ours is good or better then anyone elses just because our neighborhs have some issues. To put it into fishing comparison. In a tournament, would you be satisfied weighing in a 2 pound bass out of Lake Simcoe if the guy to your right only caught a 1 pounder and the guy to your left a 1.5?

Sorry Grilw. I think being Canadian has nothing to do with how Moore cons the masses. Lucky for you that you never ran into the real Canadian health care system. I did and it cost me $50,000 to try to fix the mistakes that our wonderful health system caused for a family member only to see them die anyway. Moore's films remind me of watching Soviet Era propaganda about America while growing up in the Soviet Union. I am not saying that America's system is perfect, far from it but our sucks. Pray you never get really sick or anyone you love. Try to ever get a second opinion from a specialist in Canada without waiting a year for it. Our system makes us feel like we need to win a lottery ticket to get in to see a specialist with a good reputation and once you do, hope like heck that they know what they are doing because you will never be able to question them. When they make a mistake and many do, good luck trying to find anyone accountable for it. Do yourself a favor, pick a specialty and call that doctors office to ask for a 1 min. phone conversation for some advice. That secretary will treat you like you are an out of work individual at the unemployment office who refuses to try a new job. Then google an expert in the same profession in the US. I guarantee you will be talking to them immediately or within 24 hours. When there is no accountability and when our doctors secretaries play god, there is a problem. That does not even cover half the problems. There have been plenty of documentaries made by left or righ leaning lunatics that the masses fell in love with that did nothing but lead to deaths of millions of people. Does not mean they are true. Until you run into the problems we have here on a personal level and I hope you never do, you really do not get to appreciate the difference between our health care systems. As for Moore, there is more truth in watching The Simpson’s then that left wing Commie wanna be. By the way, not because I disagree with his politics on all matters, just because he shows you what he wants you to see and not the truth, seen to many of those in my life. US system is not the best but heaven help those who realy get sick in Canada and don't know an uncle on a friend who can help them bypass the Bull Nothing personal, Said my piece and now I can go fishing.

Perch Fishing. Cooks Bay or Port Maitland?
love2fishhave2work replied to express168's topic in General Discussion
Cooks bay, if you get lucky you will find the big ones but anywhere along either shoreline you will find tons of perch to keep the kids buisy. You also get a chance to catch a nice pike for yourself. -
i was under the impression that bass season does not start until the last saturday in june. i beleive that is next weekend. am i missing something?

Mattitude is absolutely correct and it was a brilliant ending. Here is why. 1. The entire last series in the show of the music and Meadow parking the car was meant to build anxiety. I know i was at the edge of my chair thinking this is going to be bad knowing there were only 2 min left in the show. I think everyone was at the edge of their seat when that scene was taking place. 2. Many people in the final scene at the restaurant wanted Tony dead. You needed to read the credits and pay attention to the history of the show, you will find that all the answers lie in the characters in the restaurant. The guy at the bar who walks to the bathroom is in the credits as Nikki Leotardo. The same actor played him in the first part of season 6 during a brief sit down concerning the future of Vito. Apparently, he is the nephew of Phil. The trucker was the brother of the guy who was robbed and killed by Christopher in Season 2. (the DVD players) The trucker had to identify the body. The two guys at the end were the ones who tried to kill Tony and only clipped him in the ear (season 2 or 3). When door opens and Tony looks up everyone assumes it is Meadow but we do not actually see her. Could be another person who wanted him dead and fired a shot. Finlay the tie in to what Mattitude is saying about Bobby. The boy scouts in the scene were in the train store when Bobby got shot. That is your final hint to "you don't see it happening" 3. When Tony is shot, everything goes black because there is no longer a show without Tony. For the first time no music is played when the credits roll and the very last word of the song we hear is "STOP". Brilliant ending to anyone who truly followed the show and was into the characters. 4. All this and it still gives them the option to do a movie or a encore season with Tony being shot and not dying or some other explanation for the final scene.

Like many others i headed up to Callander bay for my annual trip. Fishing was great. Weather was great, time was great. We caught tons of walleye, pike, perch, sheephead with the occasional out of season small mouth and a catfish on a spoon of all things. I will post pictures soon. Had to share this story. Me and my buddy are fishing in one of the bays for pike. Caught a bunch of 2 pounders and hoping to catch the big one. We are fishing in 5-6 feet of water when my buddy who is using a spoon hooks into one. I put my rod down with my lure still in the water to run over and net his fish which appears to be on the bigger side. He looses it right at the boat (maybe 4 pounds or so). Just as i turn to walk to the front of the boat, something hits my rod and i watch helplessly as it flies over the side of the boat. With my polarized glasses i see my cork handle swimming away. Franticly, I start to take wallet, keys, etc etc out of my pockets, take my shoes of hoping to jump in after it. It is a $200 dollar rod and real combo, the most expensive outfit i have. By the time i all the important stuff out, i no longer see the cork rod handle. All i could do was $@#%@#$^@#$^#@^%#$%&$%&&@#$^#$^@#$^$#@ and $#@%@#$%$#%$@# some more. We start circling the area using the trolling motor for what was roughly 15 min and had all but given up when out of the corner of my eye, i see a flash of my cork handle. Glasses and everything i jump out of the boat the same instant. Start feeling around the bottom and to my astonishment in about 6 feet of water i grab hold of the middle portion of my rod. After surfacing with a monster smile on my face, i handed the rod to my buddy and then swam around the back of the boat to get out of the water using my ladder. As soon as I start to climb out, my buddy is yelling at me to grab the net. We end up landing what was a 7-8 pound pike still holding on to my lure. Needless to say it was halfway down his throat and a live release was impossible. We did get some nice pike fillets out of it but in my mind the coolest personal fishing story.

Moon Phases/Upcoming Nipissing trip
love2fishhave2work replied to huey graphite's topic in General Discussion
Will be up there at Glen Echo starting Thursday as well. See you all in the floating armado in the evening. Days do produce good numbers of fish as well. Keep the Tornado's away. -
Bassman, give me an email address and I will send you some good advice.

I was on on Saturday on Scugog. Wanted to fish where I launched but you know the fishing is always better on the other side of the lake. Only counted 2 other boats on the water. You must have hit the same spots i did. Not a fish in sight. Well, other than a pumpkin seed. Went back to where i launched the boat and there were a couple of guys from shore just killing them. Their day $0 gas + 2 hours = 50 fish. My day $40 gas + 8 hours + frostbite = 1 pumpkin seed. I think next time I will leave the boat at home.

Thank you that was very helpful

Does anyone know how many hooks you are allowed to use per line in the water? Is this a province wide rule or different for each lake?

Do you guys tow with the Trailer hitch lock? Looks flimsy compared to the draw bar and pin. Here is a picture of the one i purchased.

Boat Plug - 2nd time out and no list
love2fishhave2work replied to love2fishhave2work's topic in General Discussion
That would be my battery inverter -
Yup, Murphy's law struck today. Thought about the boat plug when leaving home, one the way (5 times) and at the launch. Unfortunatley, at the launch was after the boat was in the water and we were loaded to drive away. Better late then never I guess. Couple questions. How do you clean the carpet and will my boat batter charger dry out?
