I Was Almost A Casualty Of Last Nights Storm
Grimace replied to solopaddler's topic in General Discussion
I vaguely remember a funny story you told where there was some sort of crazed chipmunk or something. Big bears don't seem to have a problem with you but all sorts of little critters are trying to do you in. -
Going for a fish with gbfisher would be great. I have not seen Andy on here for ages. That is too bad, anyone know why? Great report on LSC Moosebunk. You guys slayed them.

I like to eat the odd fish every once in a while. If this silly rule was in effect the poachers would still poach and I would not get to keep a fish every now and again.

But other than that the trip went well? :-) -
Great looking truck! I think all of the makes are pushing out some quality trucks. I like them all.

You can't feel the fish's full strength on really light line like that. When you have to set the drag that light, the fish just takes drag uncontested and you really do not get the sensation of their strength. I like 6 pound. I know 6 is the next step up from 4 but the difference is significant. The line isn't so strong that you can muscle them in and there is enough tension that the fish has to work for it and show you his strength.

Not at all. This is not a place of business. People who overtly and repeatedly use this site for shameless self promotion are taking advantage. People should feel free to mention what types of lures and techniques they are using, that being said, it is pretty obvious when someone is being a shill. Anyways, that is a beauty little tiger. They sure are a handsome fish. This message was typed by a Toshiba Satellite A660. I would also like to take a moment and thank Microsoft Corporation for providing me with a delightful little mouse, Sylvania for the homey glow in my den, and finally Glidden paints for providing a beautiful and bright workspace that keeps me in a positive and productive state of mind.

The old man called me and told me he caught 8 brookies today for closer. I can almost guarantee this was the song he was listening to whilst fishing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MC_nYkNs1cg&feature=relmfu

Agreed!

A lindy rig with a minnow can be absolutely deadly when nothing else works. You can cover a bit of water with it as well.

Sorry man. I was the guy that gave the info that didn't work out. Sounds like weather played a big role. Did you end making it to the places that I had mentioned?

I use to fish about 100 days a year but ever since my son was born 3 1/2 years ago and being extremely busy with work I do not get out much any more. I last fished about 7 weeks ago. I am not complaining, I would be a fool to, I would never complain about being busy at work or with family.

Well done! What a thrill.

You guys are groovin. Way to go. Looks like you guys grabbed some nice hogs out of some nice water.

NF - What vehicle do you use to tow your boat, trailer, etc?

I hate to be off topic but I love that Starcraft Slowpoke. This is my rig. -

If my old lady gave me too much grief over the truck I was going to go with a Grand Cherokee. -
Lake Huron Beaches are nicer in my opinion. The kids will have fun splashing in the waves that the west winds provide and the sunsets can be astounding as they set in the west on the horizon of the water.

I just picked up a 2012 Dodge RAM. I think it has the sharpest interior and I really like the nav system/media centre . It hauls my 17.5 aluminum like it isn't even there. My dad has a GMC and it is also great. If you get the full 4 door and a tonneau cover it is pretty much a great family machine as well. Any of the full size trucks are really good in my opinion. If you go the truck route, just choose the one that you like driving the best and hopefully that is the one that gives the best deal. Some people have to believe for some reason that whatever truck/boat/product they purchased is the best. This reminds me of a great Mark Twain quote. "It is easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled." All that really matters is that you bought the best product for you. Good luck. -
NF - Keeping kids "unplugged" at the cottage

Get a well known children's book for their age group and get them to write a page long alternate ending. Gives you about a half hour to collect your thoughts in a somewhat quiet setting. Then get each of them to read their ending out loud. Should be good for a few laughs. Or you could read them all out loud and the kids could guess who wrote it when you're done. Good for a rainy evening if you are all stuck inside. -
Cedar trees has a few cottages right on Hay Bay and the lady is really great. Give them a ring
-
Longnose Gar. You can call them Gar because that is what they are. It is like referring to a Largemouth Bass as a Bass. Gar Pike is incorrect. If you launch out of Belleville you will be in the right area. Sounds like you are heading in the right direction. Good luck.

Good stuff. When they won't commit to a jig I switch to a Lindy Rig and and slowly drag it with a minnow. Those are some beautiful fish. Lac Seul is on my list.

Yeah, I guess I was a bit defensive. Like I said, I believe patriotism is usually counterproductive as I just proved by going off.
