  4. For walleye, shake em in flour,,,a bit of salt.fry em up..now, get this. I know a lot of guys like to dip it in strawberry jam. You know..instead of ketchup You really gotta try this

  12. Well, its not Echo bay. Nice fish
  13. thats the one...and the reel is a Tierra in a matching blue. really smooth outfit thats the place dangler. We fished it as kids years ago, but I'm just finding out that it holds eyes in the spring I was happy with that. I had a new rod and reel a few years back that on the Very First cast got me a 5 lb eye. And you only get one first cast. It was pretty neat
  14. Well, the weather sucked all weekend, but I managed a couple hours of fishing around noon Saturday. I'm new to the river fishing here. I have done piles of backwoods fishing and always ignored the StMarys river except for the salmon that is. I decided that this year I had to see what all the buzz was about out there. The guy where I bought the boat said that the walleye were starting to hit in Echo bay. Just toss out a worm with maybe a one bladed spinner and drift around. Ok..I'll give it a shot. Pretty poor weather, but the rain and mist made the hills look pretty. I remember it being shallow in there, but only 3'. Suprised me. I only fished for an hour and a half. It just got too wet. Had a good time though. Oh yeah...the fish. One walleye and one nice perch. I never measured it but it was an easy 20" The new rod is a 6' 6 medium fast G loomis with a Diawa reel...I don't remember the model but its a pretty blue.. Good way to break it in. Went again tonight with my son and he lost one about the same size boatside. I want the river fishing because you can go for a couple hours in the evening after work. Once I learn the places and tricks...look out walleye
  15. Nice catch...not giving up the name of the lake eh
  16. I tried Friday night and couldn't do it because of the wind. Just went for a boat ride instead. I tried Saturday and got out for a couple hours (managed a nice 22 incher for "first slime" in the new boat) then got rained out. Was going to go again today but the wind is too much. maybe tomorrow will be better.
  17. Fish is food. people are going to eat fish. Its good for you. Whats the difference if I spend a whole bunch of money to go and catch it myself, or if I go to the grocery store and buy what somebody else caught. I used to be able to catch a whole mess of perch here, but last year some so called ........... blocked the channel with nets and ruined the perch fishery. Don't try and tell me that my few perch or walleye is going to ruin fish stocks.
  18. For years we went on one week family fishing vacations. I would get on the internet and search for a place and go there. We would rent a housekeeping cabin at a lodge. They would generally have boat rentals, but I always took my own 14' er. We needed to be able to take the family labrador with us, so that cut a lot of nice options. Most times we would be in a nice place...a couple years, not so nice. But it was always an adventure. The worst was a trip to Nipigon. I really wanted to fish Nipigon for specs, and I knew that I was making a mistake, but I went for it anyway. We looked at the cabin after a 9 hour drive, and went and found a motel for the night, and another place to stay for the week. It all worked out ok. All cabins were between 800 and 1000 a week rental which suited out budget quite well. We went to fairly out of the way places mot times. One you may like was on the pickerell river. Fishing was tough, but not horrible. One year my daughter ended up with a 9lb walleye. They were all good memories. just strike out and go. I found that each place may not be perfect, but they were all good family times. personally, I like a cabin rather than a tent for a weeks family vacation
  19. The EU is doing nothing to stop Portuguese and Spanish fishing trawlers from poaching on the Grand Banks. They still allow that Cod to be sold. Thankyou Michelle
  20. Gotta love Lake Superior Provincial Park. If you guys ever need another guy to fill a canoe, let me know
  21. I'll be in Newfoundland that week. Hopefully next year. I think I said that last year too
  22. Cute...I bet moms gonna be happy with the way she is holding that fish
  23. Gotta wonder about a saltwater motor too
  24. Nice trip, and fish. Specs have always been my favorite. Where did you head in?
  25. Make sure there are no leins registered against it as well. You don't want to pay for it twice.
