Thanks very kindly folks! I truly had a blast fishing with dad on opener. Those are the times I will cherish forever.

i figured the weight would be solid. that is a sleeper lake with big bass. great stuff!
-
ONBuckHunter, what were the results on the tournie? Did anyone get a 20lbs bag?
-
well, we caught a couple pesky muskie going after those "real fish" walleye, well, Sinker, I've seen your catches...you'll find them no issue... just expect the fishing style to be closer to fishing stoney than the tri lakes or rice. set the kids up with some poppers and let them have at those bass!!!!!! (or be like my dad and simply catch'em on senko's)

full wide brim hat. long sleaves. long pants. and buff.

HH, that is where I was going to suggest. i think that bay was called "bass bay" or something?

i wonder who will be the first to fail there. bps? sail? cabelas? there isn't any hope in heck that all three will survive in that location.

which is what he is worth. $2.5m to $3m a year in the current nhl. if you can tie him into a contract for multi years, he'll be even cheaper once the cap is increased.

i thought the same thing HH as I was going through the pics.... nice bass...nice walleye...more nice bass....fillet walleye with bottle cap ... holy crap, what a good idea!!!

bone crushing smallies. if I was to only pick one presentation (after top water) to hit smallies it would be a burned spinnerbait.... i like the nichols pulsator double willow leaf 3/4 ounce .... they burn and never turn. great stuff!!

no need to return Linda. the guidewear will be good, i'm very sure. just pointing out that at bps, the "cheaper" outfit (only by like $30 bucks, but is cheaper) seems to be of better quality. not often is the cheaper version a better version. not as flashy, not as popular. but better quality. have a great trip Linda!

thats cause you were so far north you were back south again....tropics I tellz ya.
-
lol, you got it. Forgot to mention I found a confused walleye swimming around in the shallows gobbling up senko's.
-
yes, I sure do. put one in each hand, and go over each detail by detail. number of stiches. types of flaps. look beyond the decals and at the quality. the pro qualifer is actually quite a bit better than the 100mph gear. the 100mph gear is lighter however.

i was catching smallies on opener, in water 6' to 12', on luckycraft jerk baits.

My family tradition is to load up whatever we are driving at that time and head up north for Bass Opener. It's true, due to my location (Hamilton), Salmon / Trout are my most targetted fish. They are in my backyard and are generally easy to catch (well, not this year). But for Dad and I, nothing beats northern Large Mouth Bass. We do fish a lake that has smallies, but they are generally incidental catches between the buckets. If I want smallies I have lots around here with Erie, Ontario, and Simcoe all close by. This year's opener was a strange one. Water temps are at least 5 to 10 degree's colder. Vegetation growth is very limited. We fished new area's as many of our traditional haunts were unproductive. While I threw just about every bass bait imaginable, the trusty Senko fished dead slow was the ticket for the majority of the big fish. Other big bass were caught on Jerk Baits and Spinnerbaits, but by far, slow falling senko's worked along flats was our best producing bait. Numbers were slightly down, mainly because the "high number" baits (spinner baits and jerk baits) weren't taking fish in the colder water. Morning water temps were 65 degrees and only warmed to just over 70 degree's at the height of the afternoon. We had to be so patient with the senko's that high numbers were not possible. However, average size was still quite good, with numerous bass starting to put on the feedbag. Dad kicked my arse as usual - when the water is cold, and senko's are the ticket, I constantly get schooled. It's been a long cold winter without any sexy largie photo's, and until MTBF comes in with a mega report full of huge buckets, this one will have to do. Yes, Dad kicked my butt.

if you go with the bps brand, take a long hard comparison look between the 100mph suit and the pro qualifier suit. there are big differences in quality, and yet, the 100mph suit is more money.
