Quality better than Quantity any day of the week!
Bernie replied to irishfield's topic in General Discussion
Looks like you guys had a great weekend too. Congrats on the PB Wayne! Nothing much better than good friends and a weekend get together. -
Well I mentioned to the guys "dont worry about tackle, I have it covered". But hey they have to try their stuff out. And maybe...just maybe they might show me something that works. But not this time. Ha! But it's all good as the fish bite was way off around here and I think we did well all things considered.

Went over to the showroom last Friday and seen some guys I haven't seen in town before. Overheard them talking, caught a couple of names as they were talking. Terry and Dan I think. But I caught one of the guys snooping around the engines. Not sure what he was up to but he looked kind of suspicious. I think I have seen his picture in the Post office. If anyone knows who he is let me know. Seriously, it was really good to meet Terry for the first time and to have a quick chat with him, Dan and Wayne. We were all in somewhat of a rush to get going to each of our respective fishing trips. Hopefully next time we will have more time to converse. Hope you had a good time too Guys!

Lower the front of your trailer as far as it will go. Support the transom of your boat on a stringer and blocks to keep it from tilting side to side. lift the tongue of your trailer and that will transfer most of the weight to your support rather than the trailer. Secure your boat from rolling forward as you gently pull the trailer forward. Have another support ready for the front of the boat and slide it under the front of the boat when you get enough clearance behind the trailer. Easy when you have done it a few times. A quality Styrofoam block works well under the front. One guy can do it this way.

This report is a co-operation between all of us, Headhunter, Corey, Bernie and Gerritt. Wow... the boys and I are up here having a blast wishing tomorrow never arrives... Friday upon arrival we were greeted by a smiling Bernie at Wades landing it was a bit brisk and we were anxious to get out! I was a little hesitant in driving my truck out (First time) My worries were unfounded. This was only a pre-cursor to the weather on its way, heading outside in an outhouse in -26 weather is a humbling experience Yes Gerritt was right about the weather to come.....it sucked. Mid-February and these kind of temperatures. But the company was great and more than made up for the poor fishing weather. Had the pleasure to met Headhunter (Joe) for the first time and he is a terrific fellow. Funny and entertaining, but one of his best attributes is his cooking skills. Wow did we eat well. The guys brought up food fit for royalty. We did end up with enough fish for a dinner snack too. It has been a weekend like no other. Good people, good times. From -26 all the way through +3 we gave the fishing a go. Out in the middle of the pack we got some good walleye and then off the beaten trail we got more. Eating like kings after a day of fishing is the icing on the cake. From the moose stew to Gerritt`s meatballs like no other (remember Rob Hyatts) to the grilled striploin steaks with shrimp and Heathunters wrapped asparagus, the food was amazing. What better escape from the steel and concrete jungles we live and work in than a weekend at Bernies. Headhunter here, apparently at this point in the night, I`m may have been over served! i can`t tell you how many time I`ve laughed, since I met both Gerritt and Corey in the parking lot in Vaughn. I really did`t notice that the fishing was tough, a great time! Signing off, The Boys.

4 rods Joe? Ok, you can jig for me while I'm inside enjoying refreshments. Dont worry too much about tackle. We will be well equipped.
-
Joe, don't bring any of that with you tomorrow. Heartburn all weekend.

Sorry it didn't work out the way it should have. Have seen that happen once before. But on a Dodge. It should work just fine hooked up to a dash toggle switch.

Im a curler so also an athlete. Just bad enough trying to stay upright on the ice without cleats . Ha By the time the game ends I gotta hit the shower (after the post game thirst quenching). Fishing to me is recreational. A tourney could be classified as sport. As with most activities you only get out of it what you put into it.

A Lil' Sunday Mornin' Fishing Report
Bernie replied to TroutnMuskieHunter's topic in General Discussion
Nice fish!. Hope we get some like that this weekend. -
Welcome to the board! The only other guy you may recognize besides TJ and his tutu is the guy with no shirt on.
-
Can't go right now Bill. Have to curl at 7. Will check when I get home if you folks are still there discussing the latest hot topics. And I don't mean Glen with his shirt off.

Talking to a fellow and relayed this to me. A couple of guys were out on Wasi Lake fishing with too many lines. They seen a CO coming and cut the extra lines off. Noting the holes with no ice in them asked about the possibility of using too many lines. They told the usual lies. The CO pulls out a magnet on a line and drops it down the hole. Pulls up 2 lines with live minnows. Explain that he says. Hmmmm. They were charged. No sympathy here.

I agree completely Lex. People have to start taking responsibility for themselves instead of blaming others. When venturing out on the ice for the first time (often I am first one out) take extreme care and measure carefully. Knowing the lake and it's weak points helps. For those that don't know where they are going question locals and find out. Too risky otherwise. There are still areas in the South Bay of Nipissing I would not venture this season. In the past we would have 24" minimum by now.

Awww geez Glen. I'm starting to feel sorry for you. I promise to never pick on you again.........today.

Most definitely my dad. Not only did he teach me to fish but also the basics of my career. Learning outboard motor repair at 12 years old. I wanted an engine for a seaflea. He said theres an old 10 Johnson but it needs an overhaul, but you have to do it. I did, with a helping hand from dad. When I think back of how difficult I could be and how much patience he has I feel bad of my behavior at the time. What a great man he is. And his brothers are awesome too. All with special talents and all hunters and fishermen. Fortunate to have them all living within a few blocks of me in a small town. They are all getting up there but all in reasonable good health. My Dad a couple years ago

I have 3 Spirex reels. Luv em'. Shook hands with a couple of the cherrywoods but found them a little too floppy for me.
