  1. Don't think here is the right place to be to cure your addiction Mark. But glad to see you come along for the ride.
  2. If you continue to drive a any modern vehicle today that has a misfire you most likely will overheat the catalytic convertor. This will lead to a plugged exhaust system. And I would bet that a new converter pipe will be a few dollars worth-much more than a coil. By the way the "coil on plug" setup on these Ford engines has dropped in price in the last few months from the dealer. I think they are around $70 bucks. Very common problem. Fix it up!
  3. No vehicle is perfect. They all could build indestructible but wont. It would put too many out of work. Just be careful of what you buy. There is a difference between a Ford Windstar/Freestar van and a Ford pickup. The pickups are much better. Being in the auto repair business I see what is ok or not. From what I see the F150 is still the best of the domestics. They have issues too I know but they seem to be less than the other two. The Chev Impala and the Malibu seem to be holding up well in the last couple of model years. But my preference would be an Accord or a Camry. Sad really. I would like to say "BUY A DODGE/FORD/GM" but in all honesty cant recommend too many of them. I drive a 1996 F150 with 265000 km on it. Been the best truck I ever owned and I have owned many different vehicles. Best car was a 1985 Camry that had 380000 km on it when I shipped it to the scrapyard. Couldn't drive it on a dirt road anymore. It let too much dust in and you couldn't see. Ya.. it was full of rust holes but EVERYTHING still worked (including the A/C and power windows). By the way...Did you know that the Camry is built in America? Ford Fusion, Chev Impala and the Dodge Charger are all built elsewhere.
  4. Keep it up. Don't stop now.
  5. 25 years ago I was swimming with a friend in a small lake east of Trout Creek. It was a beautiful sunny hot day. No approaching storm was heard or noticed. I was under water when lightning struck a tree on the shoreline about a 1/2 kilometer away. Wow, what a jolt. I surfaced right away and seen my buddy become an instant Olympic swimmer heading for shore. One single black cloud was all there was and it didn't appear all that close. The sun was still shining brightly.
  6. Added 6 more today. Keep it up Joey!
  7. 3 times today here Joey. Go girl!
  8. 16th !! Movin' on up.!
  9. Check your fuel tank vent. If it isn't open it will starve the engine of fuel.
  10. Thanks for the comments guys and gals. Where did you leave the jigs G? I will have a look. I will make you up some more if I can't find them. If you guys are going to be better behaved next time up I will introduce you to the rest of the family. The T-shirts were designed by a talented cousin. I like the dark blue ones. It's harder to tell if you spill something on them. And that seems to happen to me a lot. Lunkerbh- if you are in Hunters or Fish Bay let me know.
  11. Hi all. Haven't been on here much lately so just thought an update was in order. As has been the usual for the past 3 summers fishing has taken a backseat to fixing up the summer residence. Last year was the boathouse project which is pretty much complete. (Geez I hate doing trim). This years major upgrade is an old building that was in very poor condition. Well it was built around 1930 give or take a year or two. The walls, rafters and 95% of the roof boards were still ok. It's also hard to get permits for a new building. So it was refurbish time. Started jacking it up in April and trying to get it leveled out. This is the only picture I could find of it's previous condition. As you can tell its just a little off level That's my daughter by the way. This is the state of it now. Next is some new shingles and some more paint.......O ya...Trim too. I apologize for not making it to Lakair this year as well. We had a family reunion at my cottage last Saturday and needed to prepare for it. This reunion marked 80 years of family at this place. About 60-70 showed up for it. We had a good time and the weather wasn't bad. Found out my barbecue can zing out the burgers in a hurry anyway. This pic is my Mom and Dad and our immediate family. Maybe my next report will be a fishing one as I am ready to give working on the place a break for a while. Thanks to my fishing team The Reel Screamers for your patience as well.
  12. Fully inflated tires run cooler. The reason is because of less flexing of the sidewalls. Always run them at max pressure. As stated previously check them cold.
  13. For a $150 you could buy a couple sets of new bearings and seals (which should be checked anyway) and a spare tire. Peg leg seems like a crutch fix to me. Oh ya, you would still need to repair the axle/bearings and possibly the tire too if you let it go too long. More $$$$$$$ to spend. Preventative maintainence is still best.
  14. My beef about the pattern/picture is that it makes the numbers hard to read. When applying for moose and deer tags I need to see them. A plain card would suit me fine.
  15. Thank you for the concern Gerritt. Watched a fairly big storm go by. Only had to go inside for 15 minutes. Lots of thunder.

    JOBS

Started out of high school working a warehouse. Great fitness program but hardly a career. Then drove tractor trailer for 6 years. Did enjoy it but got bored. Decided to turn my hobby of working on cars into a career. Went back to school and apprenticed. Been doing it for 24 years. Now have my own shop and a couple guys working with me. Been pretty good job to me. Getting a little tired of it now but it still has lots of good days. Remember this. No matter what you do or who you do it for you will have good days and bad days at your job. When you absolutely can't stand your job-find something else to do. Retraining is always an option. Good luck in the future.
  17. I'd say he pretty much told it as I see it.
  18. Folks up here got tired of calling MNR. Now they just shoot, shutup and bury them. Sad scenario. Canceling the spring bear hunt hurt a lot of operators that were already having trouble keeping things going.
  19. There is a mechanical oil pump on this engine.
  20. My motor is oil injected...he did not mention anything about the oil injection kicking in later. But wouldn't the injection work right off the bat - how would the motor know if you had mixed oil into the gas? It's a 4 cylinder engine. It doesn't "know" the difference. The injector should be working. Just that a richer oil mixture helps to lubricate during break in.
  21. I gave up on trying to tell people the difference between them a long time ago Paul.
  22. It's the oil that has improved over the years. A good quality oil designed to run 50:1 will be fine. Had a pair of 1957 35 HP Johnsons on the back of a Chris-Craft ran for years at 50:1 without issue.
  23. Nice job there Glen! I find the pink/white and the lime/white work very well on Nipissing.
  24. Ha Ha Ha . Guess I didn't see the news was out. I didn't tell on ya Bill.
  25. Hey Joey. Congrats on the house! I did purchase the insurance years ago. Peace of mind for me if something happened. But the advice I see to purchase a term policy looks good too. Been mortgage free for a year now.......... Funny, I still don't have any money? Where the hell does it go?
