  1. I'd second Randy's post with the Timbrins. They only come into play when you add a load and don't affect normal ride. I have installed several sets of those and they work well. Airbags are also a good option but more expensive. Adding a leaf will make it ride rough, especially unloaded.
  2. I seen a car one time that someone added an electric fuel pump to. The engine backfired and stalled due to a stuck open needle valve in the carb. Because the fuel pump was wired to ignition on the pump continued to run and the engine took fire. The lady panicked and left the ignition on. They wrote off the car. Make sure any electric fuel pump shuts off if the engine isn't running. The best way is to wire it to an oil pressure switch. But the pump still needs to operate when cranking so a relay hooked into the crank circuit is the best option. I'd just leave it alone and leave it the way it should be originally. They worked well enough.
  3. http://www.nugget.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=3101910 I think these guys are not realizing how much water is entering the lake right now. I don't have a lot of faith in conservation authorities.
  4. It's risen a foot in the last 7 days. With the rain still coming down and rivers overflowing I would expect Nipissing will certainly flood in two weeks. We need some warm and dry weather. Soon!
  5. This is very good advise as well as from some others. Make sure you check the heads for cracks and warps, especially because it was overheated.
  6. Looks like it would have been a great time. I'd like to take in a seminar by Dave someday. I bet he puts on a good show. One thing about Dave, there's lots of room for advertising on his shirt.
  7. I have several friends in OPP, some higher ups too. They all have told me they approach every scene as if there is a gun. They can't do it any other way. They have told me the registry does not help. The police chiefs supporting it are motivated by money and politics. The registry isn't a joke, it's a scam on taxpayers and many are suckered in by the hype. Many gun owners did not trust the registry and have "put some away" unregistered. I did mine being a law abiding citizen but it pissed me off having to do so. As someone has already mentioned, handguns have been registered for several decades but they continue to get into the hands of those that misuse them. It hasn't been proven in any case that the registry has done any good at all. Incredible that the registry began and lasted this long.
  8. Made it across to my cottage tonight. Had to move through and around some ice to get across Hunters Bay. The main body of the lake is still looking fairly solid. We need some sun and warm temps.
  9. Thank you Loonietoon. I'd appreciate you passing this on.
  10. Very sad to hear of this. A stand up guy and will be missed here. John's posts were always informative, clear and concise. A talented man. My condolences to his family and friends.
  11. Not only is it a waste of taxpayers dollars. My concern is this is the first step towards the taking away of repeating firearms. Hunting is a way of life for many folks that live away from urban centers. Time to get rid of it. For those that say it isn't important to them, it's actually the most important thing in this election to many.
  12. I'd like to take a moment to thank Jocelyn Leung at Angling Outfitters for helping me along with an ongoing problem. I was having some issues getting my GPS up and running. I had an idea what the problem was, but didn't know where to find the part needed. I phoned up Jos after reading several of the members here praising his abilities. Well, all you folks were right. He's a good guy that knows his stuff. He mailed me the part I needed. I don't know if he comes on here or not, but..... Thank You!
  13. First time I ever seen it Gerritt. Watched the whole thing. Quite the way of life. Thanks for posting.
  14. Happy Birthday Brian!
  15. Boston doesn't stand a chance. Too many ex-leafs on their team.
  16. So I take it that the bearings will go unchecked? O well
  17. Imageshack works OK too.
  18. If you are a home handyman and you own stuff that needs bearing replacement such as a trailer this tool is an easy way to pack bearings. Find it here.
  19. You have been given good advise. Ignore it if you wish, but you have so far heard it from experienced guys. The fitting on the bearing buddy has seized and won't allow grease through it. That has suggested a lack of previous maintainence that gives you a clue to take everything apart to verify the rest of the parts are good. Better to check in your driveway than the side of a highway. You have been notified.
  20. I know Paul Matthews. He operates the auto repair shop there, not the transmission shop.
  21. I think I may try to cross to the island tomorrow. A friend almost made it to his place yesterday and mine is closer. It's supposed to rain and snow tomorrow but I need a boat ride despite the weather.
  22. Ooops. Guess I should have read more thoroughly. Thanks Wayne.
  23. Trying this. IMAGESHACK And this....Photobucket
  24. You have to be very careful when assessing damage to vehicles after a "bump". Plastic covers over bumpers will bounce back and appear undamaged. But underneath that plastic are plenty of hidden metal structures, shock absorbers in the metal inner bumpers and many other parts and pieces. I have seen damage in behind bumpers that could exceed a couple thousand bucks. Don't take cash!
  25. This will depend mostly on the quality of the tub. As with anything you try to get heat to stay into and cold out of, the amount of insulation is the key. you may save initially on less expensive models but you could end up paying much more. Find out the make and model of the tub, google it and perhaps you will find operating costs.
