  1. Wow..glad you had fun with that. Hope the opportunity comes up for you again.
  2. Hey Tony...Hows the fight in them? From the look of them they just have to be a major fight. I had a huge one swim beside me in Grand Cayman 2yrs ago snorkeling. When I first seen it I thought it was the meanest looking muskie I ever seen. Thought to myself that would be awesome to hook into.
  3. Agreed
  4. I can see lickmyarmpit is going to have a tough time for a while to get a straight respectable answer Nipissing....AKA "pullmyfinger"
  5. If you stay calm, patient and cool the answers you'll find in OFC pool. Welcome on board. This place is rich in talent. Most fishing answers can be found here. Some immediately some take a bit of time.
  6. Ya...only 4 more months until May 24....Blue water walleye...Yay
  7. It's definitely the truth that makes it funny :lol
  8. Hi Kieth. My spell check is still on. The misspelled word is red underlined, double left click to highlight and right click will bring up proper spelling. Live Chat has been moved to the top of the page in the information bar under the advertising..
  9. Nice looking job on those knots. Gotta learn how to do those myself. I was a Scout leader for a number of years but I always had to call for past leaders assistance to do knots tying. ..But did they ever hoot when I said "LETS GO FISHING"
  10. I will guess that some of the long time members may be a little frustrated at the changes in their forum over the last couple of months but as a new member here from my perspective its fantastic. The amount of fishing knowledge, talent, and just plain fun loving people here is wonderful. The mods have a job to do and it isnt easy to keep everyone happy. Some of the complaints I see are trivial in nature and only serve to cause problems rather than solve them. Rather than beating a subject to death, state your concern and let it be. This is primarily a fishing site and should be left as so. Best to support and build rather than sit back and b%$^h and tear down...Sorry if I got carried away
  11. For Walleye fishing on Nipissing a 6" is enough although on cold windy days its easier to keep the hole open with 8"
  12. They would have to be within the radius of the beam. Lets see.....ok , you were in 10 ft of water, if what you were reading were actually fish I would GUESS they would be within 3-5 ft of the beam. I dont know just where you were fishing or what conditions were but if I was on Nipissing that screen would most likely be ignored until some fine tuning or observation. My best catches of pickerel dont even show on my screen on rocky shoals. And I have used several different types of sounders. Occasionally they will pop up off the bottom enough to see them but I use mine to find structure where I think they should be. Rarely ever have fish ID on. On flat bottom areas, mud or sand bars the feature I find is sometimes handy.
  13. Dont think I ever have seen a unit that you couldn't turn off fish ID. If you cant, try turning down the gain(power). Its possible you are getting signal reverb off the bottom of the ice(signal bounce). What you are seeing on your screen as it goes to the left is history. One fish sitting still will cause you to see it all across the screen. Also what you see depends on the type of transducer you have. Some are very directional with a very narrow beam which is good for faster travel and for steep reefs. Some have a wide beam which covers a larger area. Yours is likely a compromise of both and should suit you well. Think of it like a beam from a flashlight. The deeper the water the more the beam has a chance to spread. Maybe it's confusing at first but you will get the hang of it.
  14. My personal opinion is the mods did the right thing. It may not be a popular decision but they had to make the call.
  15. Carp hit the nail on the head here..Some people are critical of trivial stuff it seems. Its interesting to see some of the photo shopped pics.
  16. Hey Roy ....How much you wanna invest
  17. Hello Lew. Thank you everyone. It did turn out OK. It had a real good workout last winter and held up. So far this winter only used it a couple times. On the bottom of the blade I added a thick piece of rubber instead of those spacer feet on either end. They were always getting caught on stuff or coming loose and falling off. The rubber just slides overtop of uneven surface and acts like a big squeege mop. So the plow, frame and ATV dont have to absorb near as much punishment.
  18. Yep Garyv I wouldn't mind having one but it makes it difficult to drive around on the streets here. I also use it to push no start vehicles into the service bays. We are fortunate to be able to use them on roads up here. Cheap on fuel and easy to park.
  19. No sympathy from those two didya hooked. Well you have your beer and put your feet up. we are sure you got things straightened up. No problems with our stuff today.
  20. Is he like that all the time he is awake?
  21. Imperial Angler Boy that was fast
  22. There are approximately 8 inches of ice on Callander Bay. But not everywhere. The Wasi river runs into the bay and is a place to avoid. There are other areas on the bay that are known for having thin ice so caution MUST be taken. I dont fish Callander Bay so not too sure about where to fish..But PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE leave your minnows at home. Dont spread the virus!!! There are bait dealers up here..!!!
  23. Wow No wonder Gordon Lightfoot wrote the song.
  24. Haven't seen to much stuff on ATV's in here before but I imagine there must be a few out there that have them. Some may also have plows attached. Last winter while plowing out the yard and getting on and off the machine to angle the blade I thought there must be a better way. So on a Saturday I started at it. Years ago when Charlie and Fred Johnson sold their marine business in Pefferlaw they brought my dad up a truck load of stuff from around their shop. In it there was an accessory power tilt assembly off of a 1968 OMC outboard. It was on a shelf upstairs in a box-brand new. So i dug it out and set to work.A little bit of modification, welding and perseverance and by supper time it was ready to go. Power tilt on my plow to angle the blade. It works really good and lots of people who see it want me to make them one. Trouble is there is only one more in a box and my next plow will need one. It doesn't have the power to angle with a snow load sitting still but it does when moving. I even used the original tilt control button.
