In the OPs case he said he launched for a common area. There is a lake around Toronto called chalk lake. SOME people around the lake that do not have waterfront have access to a common beach area. I think I will send an air balloon carrying rockbass, gobbies, carp and pike over that way one of them will stick.

Big enough for you to get a ruler on the boat. badda bump chhhhh

I think the poster was not painting everyone with the same brush. Do you think he was talking about the person that let them into the lake or the people who told him cops would be waiting for him. Actually, it is a lot different than a condo. It would be the same as a condo if the owners built their own lake, instead the owners took something that is unique. It is tempting to have a lot of money and deprive others of something and even good people do it. I don't know these two lakes if there is convenient proximity to another lake close by then not much harm done. If you want to live in a world where might is right and money rules that is up to you. Just don't complain when someone does it to you (excludes or deprives you of something).

From what I recall you CAN be on the lake. It is the lake access that is the issue, like you said it is a communal beach. I think Chalk lake is like that. I do not have anything nice to say about a group of people that combine to exclude everyone else. It is not like there are lakes all around that lake. From what it sounds the people that talked to you are jerks regardless of the lake access issue ("there will be a cop car waiting for you"). Don't let them scare you. The guy who gave you permission might be more than happy to accompany you down to the waterfront to launch.....they are not about to hold you captive on the lake so you would be OK and the land owner might do it out of spite too Irishfield knows about this. Can a person that owns land around a like prohibit helicopters and planes? They can't own the lake unless they made it can they?

toronto star link An Oshawa man is missing after an empty boat was found in Ashbridges Bay this morning around 5 a.m. The boat was found about two kilometres south of Ashbridges Bay, and the owner of the boat is missing, said Staff Sgt. Paul Scudds with Toronto Police 55 Division. The boat is a 16-foot aluminum fishing boat with a small motor. Police are trying to determine how many people may have been on board the boat which left the Whitby marina sometime after 6 p.m. on Friday. A grid search for the missing man is being conducted between Ashbridges Bay, on Toronto’s waterfront, and Oshawa. Trenton Search and Rescue, Durham Marine Unit, Pickering and Ajax Rescue Unit (PARU), and COMRA (City of Oshawa’s Marine Rescue Association) are involved in the search.

Yep, all someone has to do is loose their balance (have a dizzy spell, get light headed, rogue wave) once and fall in on a windy day that moves the boat away. The nuke plant is fairly busy water too but it looks like that was not much of a safety net. not that I fish the big lakes but the rope thing is a good idea, does it get in the way? makes me think about keeping the 2-way attached to me.

Yes...I have seen it, thanks for the reminder. We have 2 of those in Whitby and I think more are going up elsewhere. Let me tell you, when I was a kid.....

what was the point of the OP?

I got a letter as well. 4 years after I bought the boat and paid the PST and GST to the Feds. I called, told them that I paid the tax when imported it and was required to show that the taxes were paid when the boat was registered at Services Canada. I added that it is unreasonable for them to ask for tax receipts so many years after the purchase and that they need to communicate with their tax collectors at Federal Government for more information. The response was quick, OK we will take your name off of the list. jerks

oh and the person that mentioned the injury/back thing has a good point. If it is ANYTHING at all see the doctor and unfortunately you should report it. Injuries often/sometimes escalate and cause a lifetime worth of hassles and pain.

She got rear ended while at a stop light. There is no way in hell she is getting charged or blamed for anything unless someone has a video of her going in reverse. I think the fresh damage on the front will back her and you up too. It would have been better if you got the license of the person in front of you, as someone already said the insurance might give you a hard time on the front depending on what the at fault driver says. Don't let the other posts in this thread worry you, they are talking out of their ass if a cop wants to be a jerk they can do what they want but you and GF are safe. You wont' get charged for leaving the scene of an accident. There was no injury, damage to property and it was a minor fender bender. if the damage is below a certain amount it does not have to be reported to the collision center either. In Durham I was told it was a 48 hour window (by the collision center), in Toronto it looks like 24. I found it interesting that the at fault person said they were going to call the police on themselves. The cops won't really care though unless they want to take a confession. This is what I would/did do (the wife was in the SAME situation): 1) get license and insurance info from both drivers. 2) get the damage inspected and inform the rear ending person what the cost is 3) report to a collision center if you are going through insurance or are obligated too. 4) let the insurance or your at fault person take care of the bills. The insurance company may option to charge the deductable. BTW: those collision repair centers they send you to are often garbage and provide the lowest quality of parts, labour and service. Don't be tempted by the insurance companies lifetime warranty talk. Find your own good rep repair shop.

If the pictures on google are right that is a big jeep. I don't know your body strength but yes you can put it on the roof yourself. You can always buy a Walmart trailer, extend the tongue and for $400 you have a trailer....but if yo have cash or trailex is cheap then trailex. I have been wanting one of those $2600 (base) PAs for a bit....are there any deals to be had on them yet?

Thanks for the replies. The wife snarled and threw the day out of the window so I will be doing my #2 choice of cleaning the garage and arranging fishing stuff. the kids will be doing something else. I will check out that scugog spot for future reference. thanks.

Fishing current, easy in a river but what about a lake!
whitbyboatguy replied to irishfield's topic in General Discussion
The direction of the swirl may have something to do with that but something else is causing this to happen. There might even be a hole at the bottom of Georgian Bay! yes, those are neat pictures, I don't remember seeing that before on a small - medium scale like that. -
Need spot to take kids today, but have requirements so it is not a super easy find for my area: -clear water. Looking down at the bobber would be good like they do at ceserea -sunfish, sunfish sunfish, rockbass. enough to keep a kid happy, board kids are no fun. -not strictly fishing. Throwing stones or play at park or quiet spot. So the concrete dock at Ceserea would be a no go. -not in the way of others. So again a boat launch where we have to keep an eye on the kids every cast won't work. being around other kids is good. -30-40 minute drive seems OK. but I have been told that Peterborough is too far. any good leads?

as stated already, before stressing yourself any further run a separate ground wire to the light to make sure it is not a grounding issue. As for the lens maybe post a picture?

translation: What the heck? What am I doing wrong? How come I am am not catching more fish? What the heck? What the heck? end of translation. eye opening insight...thanks.

Cudz, I think I understand. Family is part of it but that is not the conflict. Fishing is not a bad thing but it is for you, some people may not understand that. Keep listening to yourself, wife and close non-fishing fiend friends. Other people have problems with other things: Internet Food Alcohol OCD Exercise Watching sports (I think this is the closest one to you) You are self aware and recognize the issue, hopefully one day it gets figured out.....aging and loss of testosterone etc....I am no psychologist. If it doesn't there are still enough things in the world to fill 10+ lifetimes with activities. Good luck!

those are really good pictures! What did you use to take them?
-
that is right. Ditch the crack and keep that crack pipe handy for those little opportunities Keeping some barbie rods in the garage might be OK for now.
-
I agree, why complain?

You did not say what model / type of deep cycle battery it was AGM, lead/acid or what charger. Sometimes that CTC/schumacher electronic charger (a good charger) will not charge a battery if it is too low. The batteries website or customer service should be able to tell you about this and the schumacher website probably has something too. The 1AMP thing as a trickle charge only and that depends on the type of battery too.

Lake Ontario is a big lake and there are muskie in it. It is a surprise depending on where it was caught. If you were trolling for salmon it would be a surprise. Photoshop that pic and post it?

saw a simliar thread on iboat forums. Can't remember much about it other than it was posted this month and is in the mercury/mariner section.

No kill zones on the upper Credit and Grand
whitbyboatguy replied to Alfiegee's topic in General Discussion
CYA: put a reasonable effort into and let it go. If you keep it you will be labelled as a poacher. Same thing if it is out of the slot limit. What on the surface seems like a contradiction is not. It is similar to catching a Muskie on a conservation license.....what happens if it dies? If an acceptable excuse for keeping a fish was that it could not be revived there would be no stopping people: 1) keeping more than their limit 2) keeping OOS fish 3) fish out of the slot
