To my knowledge, there is no snakeheads in Ontario.. Once they arrive, we are all screwed.. Those things eat everything!!

A buddy of mine has a cover like this.. He's a contractor and has the bed full of tools all the time, then loads suPplies on top.. On the weekend, don't bother unloading, just puts the 14ft on the boat rack.. Very versatile set-up, pretty much doubles the cargo space.

In regards to the salesman at Legend.. They tried the same thing with me about the 4 stroke.. Gave me a big spiel about how dependable, fuel efficient etc, etc.. Told me the 2 stroke was "chainsaw" technology.. I finally put my foot down and said " listen: I'm a mechanic, I can't reprogram an ECM in the bush, but I can fix a carburator".. He finally agreed and raved from then on about the 2 stroke.. Said it really flew on the test drive and had a good holeshot. Fact is, they'll tell you anything to make a buck, which they make more of when selling a higher priced package.

X3.. My reason to purchase new was because I got sick of wasting time fixing old junk motors ( factor in time Not spent with family)before actually getting out to fish.. and tippy, leaking boats... I'm not looking back in regret because it's going to last me into my 50's

I have this same exact boat with a 30 merc 2 stroke on it.. Purchased june 2011 as new.. So far I'm very happy with it.. But I agree with the masses and upgrading the motor is a must ( a 9.9 on a 16 ft is a joke!).. Also watch the price of the options - $250 per seat and $799 for a 45lb motor guide is crazy.. I opted to buy seats at a local sudbury dealer for $70ea. And a 55lb minn Kota bow mount for $599.. A little more work to install but I'm happy with what I have. I did shop around but what I found was either the price was too high for what I wanted ( the legend layout is Exactly how I wanted the lay out - no benches) or they didn't offer what I wanted ( ie: no front casting deck) So all in all, shop around and price out what YOU want, it's your money.. But don't rule out Legend just because they "apparently" aren't as good as a Lund or princecraft. I

I have a campbell Hausefield 8 gallon compressor. It's 5 years old and hasn't missed a beat. Works good for tires, impact guns etc. but lacks volume for air drills, die grinders or air ratchets..

Yes that's a strange problem indeed.. Usually when the water pump is worn the water doesn't spit at low RPM.. I would pull off the foot and change the water pump anyways, if you can't remember the last time it was done.. You may find a broken fin on the impeller or some other issue causing blockage. Also, check the pee port for any blockage

I have the Dakota 20 gps , which is basically a mini version of the Oregon.. I also have the ibycus maps and am very happy with both.. It's a little pain to download the map because of the use of torrents, so there is some hoops to jump through. The reason he doesn't offer a direct file download is because the file is huge (2-3GB) and his server can't handle it. You could also buy the maps from ibycus in DVD form for $25. Still a lot cheaper than $99 from garmin.

I bought this combo at Canadian tire for $69.99.. Seems like a really nice set.. Also bought the pink Plano soft tackle bag.. She wanted pink so I won't borrow "her" gear!!

Yes, the spindle diameter deems the bearing size. Most small trailers are 1" or 1 1/16".. Best thing to do is disassemble and get a bearing out so you can see what number is on the roller bearing as its hard to distinguish the 1/16" difference.

Check the linkage for the shifter, it may need adjustment or could be bent somewhere.. Also, there should be an access "window" that you can access on the downshaft so you can see if it's still connected to the bottom end. If it is all good going to the bottom end, you may have bigger problems.

And worth every penny.. These snakeheads would be absolutely devastating to the Canadian Eco system.

You can buy a kit to convert the short shaft motor to a long shaft.. Don't modify the boat, that's a big can of worms you don't want to open! The electric start is not a big deal, you could jimmy rig up some wiring to make it work, Johnson's of that vintage don't change much year to year.

The trailer section at canadian tire or princess auto has bearing kits for both 1" and 1 1/16" spindle sizes.

Do you use a transom saver/outboard motor support?

I made a home made set up. Used mudflaps from a transport bought at a local dealer for $9 a side. I like how these ones raise up off the hitch though, mine have a little gap between the bumper and the mud flap

I'm surprised to see the lakers so far down this early in the year.. Up here in Sudbury I was marking fish at only 5 - 15ft down.. With surface temps at 45-48*F Looks like you guys had a great day!!
