    Ice fishing

Here's a pic I got out icefishing. Finally the sun came out, well sorta.
  2. My wife loves fishing except not on big water not at night not if the bugs are out not if the fish aren't biting not if it's not too hot not if it's not too cold not if it's raining not if it looks like it might rain not if were gonna be there too long not if the dogs won't sit put not if the waters have any waves not if the wind is blowing and a few more I can't think of right now, but yeah, she loves fishing.
  3. -16 here this morning, and tonight they're calling for -20. ouch, man it's gonna be cold all week. The only upside is we're starting to see grass here and there. As for the boat, just pull it out of the Tempo, put in the battery and gear and ready to go.
  4. " I used to play video games..............then I turned 14. (just kidding....well not really)" I'll be 44 this year and I like playing games, where else can you race the pro's? in NASCAR games, you get to race in the safety of your own home, Burnout Paradise lets me drive and wreck around with people from all around the world, Call of Duty is awesome as many other games. Graphics are getting right up there now that it even has the feel of being there. But then again, some people didn't even have fun when they were 14. I actually bought mine for the Blueray and I needed a new DVD player, but a PS3 does everything, music library, picture library, video library, and games, all in HDTV on the big screen. It's an all in one entertainment center. I got my 101% on Burnout, now waiting for the new upgrade that's suppose to add a whole new section to the map, and word has it, it's gonna be free. Also PS3 owner, we should have another firmware update this week sometime. Firmware 2.20
  5. I like downrigging for them, Northern King lures are my fave. Love pulling them up from 80 - 100 feet of water. You can also put a cheater line, it slides down roughly half of what the ball depth is, so you can cover 80 ft and 40ft 92 (different depth) at the same time. Flatlining works good in spring before the cold water turnover.
  6. Great shots Brandon, love the owl ones. It's funny how sometimes these great photo ops just pop up unexpectedly. Even more so when you don't bring a camera. I've been wanting to get an eagle perched in a tree shot, and 2 weeks ago, when I least expected it, I came across a Bald Eagle in a tree, but unfortunately I didn't have my camera.
  7. membership lets you load hundreds of caches at the same time, you can also use the "cache along the route" feature which makes it easier to find and load caches from the site. I gotta renew mine soon. Another great thing about caching is there is something for everyone, you can even do them downtown in big cities, but I like the "out of the way" ones.
  8. Looks like a strange monster on that thumbnail pic, but the big pic does it justice. Cool painting behind too.
  9. As spring is suppose to be here and it should start warming up in the next month, and Geocaching thread brought back some memories of last summer. Here's a pic of my son and I along with the dogs Geocaching, i could honestly say, we would of never found this place if it wasn't for Geocaching, you won't find it in a brochure. White Quartzite mountain with beautiful blue water and vibrant green trees. Great times.
  10. Just got home and see this thread is alive again. Geocaching is pretty awesome, I knew it's just a matter of time and this will catch on big time. It's great fun and gets you out to places that you never knew existed. I haven't been doing it as much lately, mainly because all the snow and the fact I have most of the caches within a 100 mile radius of home. But getting ready for spring and another year of caching. The caches I enjoy the most are the ones that take me to awesome picturesque places, if you wanna find some of the best caches in Ontario, take a look at my bookmarks at the geocaching site. One of my favorites was Fraser Bay Fishing cache, I did it with my son and 2 dogs. We drove a hundred clicks towards Manitoulin Island, put the boat in the water and went 15kms up the lake (McGregor Bay, North Channel), tied the boat up at shore and hiked 800Meters in, up 500Meters to the cache, the view of Lake Huron was incredible, it's my Signature Pic. On the way back we caught 5 lakers downrigging, went home and had a great fish fry to end the day. A day neither me or my son will soon forget. MikeyMikey- The beautiful places help with the photos, I got a bunch of me on top of different mountain top all across Ontario. Walleyejigger - Great story, that's one of the things amazing about Geocaching, you get great stories almost evertime you go out. My wife and son didn't make it to the top of the tower, and the whole way back they argued who made it up the farthest. LOL. I went to the top and she was swaying up there, but it still was an Awesome experience. The final cache co-ords were written at the top. So far I've cached in 3 Provinces and one State. I still have one on my to-do list, it's called Eternal Flame, It's in New York, it's a flame that's underneath a waterfall, hopefully I'll get there this sumer.
  11. My son plays COD4 lots, I like Burnout Paradise. I'm not fast enough with the COD4 shooting. I watch my son play, and it's a pretty awesome game, awesome graphics. Were use to hering "our AV is online". You'll know what I mean once you play it. I just picked up a PSP also, been fiddling around with that a bit.
  12. I've just completed Burnout Paradise, awesome game for anyone who likes racing/driving/crashing games. Just have a few online challenges left. My son likes COD4, just uploaded the new update for it today actually. He also like Rock Band. The game where the deer hunt the people was Deer Avenger, I use to play it on the computer years ago, pretty funny comments in that game. PSN ID - simplyred4x4
  13. Ice fishing doesn't close here till the end of March and then it's wait till 3rd sat in May before season re-opens, so it's still 2+ months away. But should be all downhill after we lose these cold days first.
  14. Awesome pics, the sand is so smooth in the first pic
  15. Awesome works, makes you look at the foreground and then to the background.

    Ode To Bob

Awesome, what an awesome scene. Bob would be proud.
  17. I was thinking the same thing Cliff, I just couldn't narrow it down to exactly where I've seen it. Bugs Bunny. LOL Great ball video also, too funny.
  18. Check out this video of this dog in the snow, it's so cool it'll have you laughing. Dog having an absolute blast in the snow
  19. I've cooked some in the same beer batter I use for walleye, then dip in Krafts Tartar sauce, Awesome. When cooking this way, cut off any of the browner meat along each side, that's what makes them taste fishy. I also like to fill the cavity (whole fish with skin minus head, tail, and fins) with carrots, onions, lemon pepper, fish spices, wrap in foil and place on BBQ. Roughly 20 minutes to a side. Pull back the foil, the skin should be stuck to the foil, and you have some great tasting fish. I don't eat the carrots and onions, they help absorb any fishy taste.
  20. "I am surprised that the government has not banned the use of personal vehicles on the ice." Statements like that are why we are losing all our rights. Can't believe the negative feedback here from fisherman. We're always out on the lakes around here in winter be it fishing or just for fun, many snowmobile trails are across the lakes. He hit a bad spot and sure it could of been worse, but no different than hitting an icy spot on the highway and losing it. Commonsense and a little bit of caution goes a long way. As for the stupid ones who go out when the ice isn't thick or unsafe, well those people will be doing something stupid on the roads if they weren't on the lake. You can't govern stupidness. Good to here you were OK, Cityfisher, I for one have been driving on the lakes for 20 years, and haven't had any problems, but do know the limitations of when to and not to. Don't let one bad experience ruin it for you forever.
  21. If you like comparisons, here's a few more. The Size Of Our World
  22. That would make fishing easier, although the boat launches would be a zoo. LOL

    One More

    Cool Painting, great artwork.
  24. Great shots Brandon, You should try geocaching, that first pic looks like a perfect place to hide a geocache.
  25. Here's mine, fish pike, bass and walleye, and get out the downriggers for Salmon, Lakers and Rainbows.
