It wouldn't be the first time Mayweather beat up on a woman....

My mom and her neighbours saw two of them fighting each other right in her neighbour's driveway, in the Paudash area. It was too dark to get a photo of them but pretty distinguishable. This was....2-3 years ago? Her neighbour saw one again last year as well. A woman I work with says she knows a farmer who shot one, can't say for sure if it's true. Apparently he told the MNR it was after his livestock, they refused to believe him/do anything about it. So he told them he was going to shoot it. They said he can't do that, so he asked them again if they'd come out there and do something about it. Nope. So he shot it and told them to come pick it up. She didn't say he was charged with anything.

Anyone planning to fish downstream from Montreal?

I don't know what would stink worse, the ice or the Leafs. -
ughhh, stupid job offers NF

If it pushes you into a higher tax bracket you could always save more in RSPs. Everything you save is essentially knocked off your taxable income, plus that could mean earlier retirement. It's hard for me to say though, I don't have kids so it's easier for me to work more. -
I was in Ottawa this past Friday, I would have loved to get out there but I had marriage prep, my fiancée would not have been pleased. Beauty fish Mike! I have got to get around to fishing with you again, I keep wanting to book a walleye charter but life has been so hectic lately.

It wasn't a silver pike, still had normal green sides with white spots. Wish I could link the photo. -

Trying to get the link to post, stupid phone. <a class='bbc_url' href='http://s301.photobucket.com/user/Dontcry4mejanhrdina/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_1.jpg.html'><img src='http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn56/Dontcry4mejanhrdina/Mobile%20Uploads/image_1.jpg' alt='Posted Image' class='bbc_img' /></a> -
I caught a little pike with a blue mouth and some of it's fins were blue-ish as well. I tried to attach a pic but it's too big and I'm just on my phone, might upload it to photobucket later. Anybody ever see this in pike (or other fish) before or know why it's that colour? Everything else about it was normal and healthy looking.

Females are usually more protective but of course it can depend on each individual dog's personality and how they're raised. We had two brother and sister Siberian husky/German shepherd mixes when I was a teen. The male was extremely relaxed, wouldn't bark at anything or anybody unless he just wanted you to play with him/pet him. The female was very protective of the property and us, strangers wouldn't go up and pet her that's for sure. Insanely strong too, if they were being walked on leash she HAD to be in front of her brother and you weren't stopping her. Never had a dog pull so hard in my life. Of course the shepherd in her made her bigger than the average Siberian, she weighed over 85lbs despite being fairly short, just a tank. Sorry to hear about your dog. Just terrible. Just remember that your dog had a better life than most. It experienced more joy in the time you had him than than he would have if he lived 18 years being crated every day and never allowed to run free. You actually allowed your dog to be a dog!

Frabil storm suit leaking
Dontcryformejanhrdina replied to Dontcryformejanhrdina's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for all of the replies, I thought maybe there was something that needed to be applied to it to keep me dry. I'll contact Frabil and see what they recommend. Turns out I bought it in 2012 so it's just three years old. I first noticed getting wet under my arm, I figured from where I hold my musky rod when ripping minnow baits but Saturday it just wasn't holding up well at all, minus the pants. I appreciate the info. Good to know it could be just a simple fix. -

Never washed it, always hung to dry after use. -
Has anybody had issues with a frabill fxe storm suit leaking before? I thought I heard there was something you could spray on it the keep it waterproof but I can't find anything about it. I paid over $400 for it four years ago, shouldn't have to replace something that quickly, otherwise I'd buy a cheaper suit that every year or two until they rip. Wore it today in heavy rain, I was soaked by my shoulders, under my arms and even the hood was leaking.

Definitely used for your first boat. You don't want to be stuck paying for something you grew out of, like already mentioned. My first boat was a 14'er with a 9.9. It was old and ugly but I had a blast with it, you can take them almost anywhere and they are super easy to launch by yourself. Good luck with your purchase and congrats on buying a boat! Your bank account will suffer but it's worth it.

One more sleep til my musky opener
Dontcryformejanhrdina replied to Rizzo's topic in General Discussion
Gallie, I was in haliburton Monday and Wednesday, it was slow then too. In about 11 hours fishing combined (both mornings) I only went 2 for 2. No follows except one my fiancée had (who was skunked both days). She might of had a hit each day too but isn't sure. Still trying to get her to hook set harder. Managed a 32 and a 37 but it was tough going. Can't complain though, I've been skunked enough times to enjoy any day I land a musky. -
Advise from the Musky Experts?
Dontcryformejanhrdina replied to KraTToR's topic in General Discussion
I'm by no way an "expert". I've lost many, many musky. Some by no fault of my own, some because of amatuer mistakes I made. Looking back at all the catches and lost fish I've learned one thing for sure: every fish is different. Some fish have required 2-3 hook sets. Others I could just tell were barely hooked and the initial hook set was enough and when they ended up in the net, a thin piece of skin was all that was holding them on. Another hook set would have easily torn that free. Try not to get too discouraged. There's going to be lost fish. It happens to everyone. You'll get better with experience. I'm still learning things with every success and failure. Not every hit is equal. Some hit square and hard and a good hard hook set will get some hooks into that fish. Some barely grab the bait and might get a single hook in it's nose and need to be coaxed in more. Then there's the blowups. Every musky angler has seen a fish just explode out of the water behind the bait and never even make contact with it. It's not always the angler's fault when you lose a fish. Just getting them to bite is half the battle. Keep plugging away and you'll get a feel for each fish, don't get discouraged too much. -
Musky opener: what are you throwing?
Dontcryformejanhrdina replied to singingdog's topic in General Discussion
Inline spinners, sledges, and I'm sure I'll throw some hell hounds and top water. My fiancée wants to catch her first musky so hopefully we can find a successful pattern quickly. -
Beer and wine sales in Ontario NF well kinda!
Dontcryformejanhrdina replied to Headhunter's topic in General Discussion
It's actually the 5 closest stores, not 3. I'm sure Walmart or some other large grocery chain won't charge them money to carry their product though....oh wait, they won't even carry their product because there's no money in it. They'll carry carling, coors light, Canadian, bud, etc... You know, things that actually sell. You can feel sorry for small breweries all you like but the fact is most people buy the popular beer and stick with it, small business are pretty much death in today's market. What needs to be done is more marketing towards beer as not just a summer beverage to get drunk on but as a very wide range of favours and styles. Wine is thought of as a great drink paired with certain foods but beer actually pairs better with food than wine does. Drinking from the proper style glasses that match the kind of beer would eliminate much of the "beer isn't classy like wine" kind of mentality. -

Dontcryformejanhrdina replied to Headhunter's topic in General Discussion
If they become popular and sell the Beer Store will carry more, thus selling more. It's up to these small breweries to make a good product and market it well. Nobody is going to order more of a product that doesn't sell and give it tons of shelf space, it will go skunky. That's just bad business. -

Dontcryformejanhrdina replied to Headhunter's topic in General Discussion
Craft breweries can get their beer into beer stores for free now, actually a new thing. Large grocery stores are not going to carry brands from small breweries since there's no money in it. The "big brands" sell 67% of the total beer in quebec while in Ontario it's closer to about 50%. Wynne is flat out lying but hey, that's what politicians do. -

As far as "beer store is foreigned owned", do you think stores like wal-mart isn't going to get in on this? They've got deeper pockets than anyone and they're not a Canadian company. -

You wonder why alcohol costs so much in Ontario? It's because over 40% of what you pay is taxes. Ontario has the highest tax on alcohol, doesn't matter who sells it, those taxes still remain high. If you think this will cause the prices of alcohol to drop you're going to be very disappointed. -
Getting boat fixed near Belleville?
Dontcryformejanhrdina replied to Dontcryformejanhrdina's topic in General Discussion
Kill switch is fine, that was one of the first things I checked. I've had it running for a bit after changing the plugs but it sounded rough and stalled out. It's a 2004 Honda 40hp 4-stroke, by the way. Thanks for the input guys, I'll probably drop her off at Belleville Sport once the snow melts. -
Getting boat fixed near Belleville?
Dontcryformejanhrdina replied to Dontcryformejanhrdina's topic in General Discussion
I'm not sure, actually. Was running great then seemed like it ran out of gas while on quinte. I changed lines to the other tank and just wouldn't start, siphoned gas to the first tank, still wouldn't start, had to get towed back to shore. Figured it was the plugs, tried replacing them but that didn't help. I don't know a ton about boat engines so I don't want to be taken to the cleaners with it.
