Looked like a great day with your new boat and you've a got full summer to look forward to ! Hope you don't spend it unhooking sheephead though -
I like watching the long range on Accuweather but the hourly on the Weather Network is useful as well. Doesn't really bother me if the forecasters are off as they're only going by models and projections. Look at the tornado in OK yesterday. Meterologists and chasers got caught in a nasty one because the tornado made an unexpected deviation from the projected path. Nature does what it wants, when it wants.

Rain boots or shoes what do you use
woodenboater replied to Handlebarz's topic in General Discussion
I'm wearing either Teva watershoes or World Wide Sportsman shoes (BPS). I like foot protection whether in a boat or on land. -
ha ha, nice work. Now all you need is an apron for your line and a cupholder

Best department at BPS Vaughan are the fly guys. The other fishing departments are hit and miss, some do try though, others, not so much. I am glad we have lots of shopping options in southern Ont. for fishing gear.

Resurrecting this thread since I'm looking for something similar. Saw this unit on the BPS website http://www.basspro.com/Base-Camp-Aquacube-Instant-Hot-Water/Portable-Shower/product/13012305512520/ Kinda spendy but youtube videos make it look easy and very adjustable. Wondering if anyone here has used this and can compare with the Zodi or other similar heaters. tia WB

It worked in this instance but it could have gone wrong in so many ways you don't want to think about it. Why even try to provoke someone ? What if he really flew off the handle and you ended up on the wrong side of a beat down ? As well as the 'grin and bear it' there's also the 'count to ten and take same number of deep breaths' that I do my best to follow when confronted with idiots. and remember, only the legal system can determine right or wrong.

People who get into service industries like retail have to understand that the job is not always sunshine, ponies and rainbows. Perhaps the customer is having a craptastic day as well and doesn't need attitude from holier than thou retail staff. I used to work retail and restaurants and followed the 'grin and bear it' motto when dealing with customers who were less than nice or polite. Repeat business is the goal and having happy customers ensures that 100%. Overall I've had good experiences at BPS but have encountered staff who I felt thought were above me and even deigned to assist me. No idea why. I'd go back there since they have items no one else has

Just an update on the generator. There were several on Kijiji I missed out on (one for $850 in Barrie !) but finally grabbed a used (barely) Honda 2000i today. Damn this is one quiet generator, I can see why they're popular. Looking forward to using it next weekend when SWMBO and I open up the cabin. Thanks to everyone for their input, helped tremendously and glad I was steered away from Champions and I hope all OFC'ers have a great long weekend on the water ! wanna see reports with major fish porn lol

and don't forget meh's companion...feh (kinda like meh but harsher..like when your kid says 'please' in that dismissive tone)

look at the dowels or blocks. if you're handy, you can make them yourself, I'm lazy so I bought them. http://www.noahsmarine.com/items.asp?Cc=Canoe%2DSHK

do not epoxy the gunwales as they will never come off clean if you ever have to do that. use stainless screws since the gunwales will have to support two seats and a yoke. as mentioned by others, the bend is nothing and you'll only need steam if you're making new stems or ribs.
-
If it's a beater, then I'd just get some ash (rip it if you can find the appropriate length) for the inner and outer gunwales. stainless screws from the outside. make sure you have enough width to hang the seats and yoke. I'd just pay the piper and buy a good yoke (teal for example). I like yokes that have a slight tilt in them so the canoe sits bow high when carrying. you'll want to hang your seats instead of attaching directly to the gunwale so it gives you a lower centre of gravity. again, I would just look around and buy these. my seats use lacing vs seatbelt webbing. I get waffle butt from them but it's still got some cushioning. all told, yer looking at around $350 ± for gunwales and seats from Noah's. http://www.noahsmarine.com/index.asp make sure you oil the gunwales before attaching them. and it'd be great to see photos of the progress from beater to floater

golden ! thanks Bill

A mobile app would really be a smart idea. If I can find an LCBO or Timmy's on my mobile, shirley I should be able to get info on zones and slots.

crap. don't wanna jump to conclusions but the fact that Millard's not talking says a lot. hope they can figure out who the second guy was and deal with these wastes of human lives appropriately.
-
While they didn't resort to the old Leaf tradition of falling back with a good lead, I'm having hard time figuring out how they blew a 3 goal lead. Still not much shame in losing to Stanley Cup winners.
-
that's a very nice last minute pike there, way to stretch it out till the end. good omen for the rest of the season ! btw, hail is one great reason I'd want to get a full console w/standup cover
-
guess they'll be around for the opener hope they can build on this and keep the young turks intact for next season. unfortunately, phaneuf probably should go.
-
a 3 goal lead...sigh. can't watch.

Karma... it is a three way street correct?

I had a major rotflmao at around the 0:46 mark in the second video. What a great attitude and I love that she's making people laugh and smile. Tough cookie doesn't begin to describe her Wayne.
