  1. In the Globe and Mail of all places http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-drive/culture/commuting/finally-a-common-credible-standard-for-towing/article23687343/
  2. Thanks for the update Lew, Man this is not news people wanted to hear even though we knew Kevin had a tough fight ahead of him. I should have made the time to stop by last year but couldn't swing it Am keeping them in my thoughts and I hope Leslie and the kids are doing ok, as can be under the circumstances.
  3. I'll accept that it's not just pr, so it's a good sign that the NFN is involved.
  4. best thing paddlers can do is take a whitewater course and learn river reading and paddle skills, skills which do translate into flat water paddling.
  5. Interesting and have seen other builds that use beefier ribs and planks. I will say though that seeing people switch sides every stroke drives me crazy ! Learn proper strokes and pick a side. Every paddler should know j's, pries and draws. ok, I feel better...
  6. rethink the Jon boat unless all you boat is small skinny water that rarely sees waves and chop. slap. slap.slap when it goes OVER waves.
  7. I need to survey the trees on my property, has to be more than one sugar maple lol. if there's a bunch, will have to see what atkinsons has for small batches.
  8. I would go on the assumption black flies will be there to welcome you. followed immediately by mosquitoes, then deer flies. still, I would take them over mosquitoes and deer flies.
  9. 400 and you're not running lines ? man that's hard work hauling all those buckets worth the effort though
  10. so people who have a beer to relax and unwind are drunks then ? I see far more damage from drunks than people lighting up a joint. ymmv
  11. I think we need to be careful who we label as potheads. You'd be surprised to find that quite a few are white collars and not just characters from Dazed and Confused Most of the users I know, use it to relax (not unlike alcohol) and it's a social thing, passing the clip around. and people don't become belligerent pieholes after a few tokes. Unlike drunks and beer.
  12. I need to get to Labrador ! Last place I saw aurora borealis was coastal Lab.
  13. considering where Harper has gotten us, I'm game to give JT a chnce to sit in the daddy chair. Don't forget that he'll probably surround himself with smarter minds. Harper promised accountability and transparency and has done the total opposite and beyond. Science ? Experimental Lakes Area ? Mission creep in Iraq ? To get back on topic, decriminalize the bud and and make some money taxing it. As long as they allow people to grow a few plants for personal use, what's the problem ?
  14. there's some great information in this thread and hopefully it will help me with my asparagus and garlic this year !
  15. would be overkill getting a Generac for GTA use wouldn't it
  16. At least the Liberals weren't trying to muzzle scientists. people doing important research into the environment and oceans and fisheries. Anything that could be damaging to industry was targeted.
  17. Anyone else have everything flicker briefly ? tv shut off briefly. same with furnace. hearing word of occurrences across southern Ont and possibly into western Quebec.
  18. yup, if one isn't smart enough to stock up on your favourite amber or malt, and you have to get some NOW, then I think you have to manage your time better and no way in he - double hockey sticks will prices go down. That's just a pipe dream. If anything, I can see prices going up. Wife and I keep enough liquor in the house that we don't worry about running out unless company shows up...
  19. agree with porkpie, that's not very many so keep 'em. For worst and giggles, throw them when you're tired of the same old same old and need to mix things up. never know when a different pattern will make things fun. fwiw, I like cranks for everything, esp when I burn them across the top near the end of a retrieve. Got some very memorable pike hits that way.
  20. ^^^ if you can afford Sharkbite, go for it ! Found out about Sharkbite AFTER I used clamps to connect Pex pipes. Nice thing about Pex is it can make soft bends around things vs needing a math degree to figure out copper runs lol.
  21. interesting timing but someone sent me this link recently. a great read with lots of insight into the russian system. and he mentions tows and kane as well http://www.theplayerstribune.com/miracle-on-ice-hockey-russia/ and on the topic of learning from losses. this is another insightful read about one of the bjj pioneers http://www.mmafighting.com/2015/3/8/8160649/renzo-gracie-reflects-on-the-sakuraba-fight-and-his-life-changing
  22. This is the nut of it isn't it ? Really good hits are rare in the NHL afaic. The modus operandi seems to be go full bore at whoever has the puck. Do players even know how to throw a good open ice hip check anymore ?
