  1. Nice fish Pete! Always have the net deployed when trolling solo... Ha ha
  2. Not a great idea. If it flat calm, Im sure you could get out in the shallows for some bass, but remember that Erie gets nasty really quick, and has claimed a lot of lives.
  3. Sorry, I made it clear on the last Musky post (that mysteriously dissapeared) that its obviously not all St Clair anglers have bad handling practices... Unfortunately though, a lot do, including a bunch of the so called experts ( charter guys) And 2 out of every 3 are trophy caliber eh? Have fun with your 39 inch trophys! Ha ha
  4. Great post! As for the boca grips... The cheap ones dont have a rotating handle which can also cause damage when the fish rolls in the net. If you arent comfortable handling Musky and feel the need to use a boca, use a good one with a rotating handle. And if you need to weigh your fish, do it in a cradle or large net, and subtract the weight of it. St. Clair guys will catch on eventually...( when the fishery is half of what it is today.)
  5. Love fishin Florida... Never know what you are gonna hook into
  6. Type any combination of words with Musky pics and see what u get...
  7. Lake Simcoe Musky eh? Ha ha... Right
  8. Avet is a greAt bucktail reel for the money. You will be happy with it
  9. It will take a bit to get used to, they seem to backlash a bit easier without a levelwind. You can really burn the blades though ( with the right reel)
  10. Problem is that you will get 5 different stories from 5 different media outlets... Gonna have to wait a few years to see how it plays out in court.
  11. Restoule and the area lakes have good smallie fishing, and some largies as well...
  12. Do those regs pertain to Six Nations?
  13. Hope his slap on the wrist doesnt sting too much...
  14. Very sad, and 100% avoidable. He was shot in the back while standing out in the open. ( shot from the rd at 375 meters away...)An Oshwegan man has been charged with criminal negligence causing death. Doesnt sound like an accident to me. And it definately wasnt a shotgun from that distance... When is the government gonna realize that some things need to change? Tax paying/law abiding citizens shouldnt have to suffer because of the "rights and special privelidges of others"... Makes me sick!
  15. Listen to Jones! Hes been on fire this year. Yes you can catch them from shore other places, but most of them you will have to put in hundreds of hours to get one fish ( and most likely a small one)
  16. Abu has a good selection of lefty reels with different price ranges. Shimano does as well, but I would stay away from the Corvalus. Mojos are a great rod for the money, and paired with a Shimano Cardiff, or an abu, you should be close to your budget. (And yes, longer rods can be a pain to transport, but they make tossing big baits, and fishing all day much easier)
  17. Whats your price range? You can spend $150 or $800. You get what you pay for, especially when it comes to reels. If you plan to use it a lot, you are better off spending more initially, but it will pay off if you buy quality. My favorite combo is an 8 ft St Croix Legend Tournament paired with a Revo Toro 61, spooled with 80lb Suffix 832. The Legend rods are amazing... But pricey.
  18. Good stuff. You are lucky to live near a great shore spot for skis.
  19. Good stuff Moe. Not bad for that dirty water.
  20. I know its hard to avoid the Lakers, but they are oos right now... You arent allowed to "want" them right now... Ha ha
  21. Pathetic. Everybody has their "rights". Unfortunately....
  22. X2. Dont go with thinner wire if you dont have to.
  23. Abu has a great selection of quality Musky reels with a variety of models and prices. Just realized where Grande Point was. You shouldnt have too much trouble hookin up from "there".
  24. First one was definately the hardest for me. Just curious where you have been trying? From boat or shore? Certain waterbodies have much higher densities than others. Good luck, it will happen .
  25. Well to some a 8lb walleye is worth a skin mount. To others its a 14lb. I realize that people keeping trophy fish to "stuff" isnt a big concern for numbers in a fishery. Its the anglers keeping their limits every time they fill them to eat. Lower density fish such as Musky are a different story. Release them so they can reproduce, or be enjoyed by another angler. And there are replicas that look as good as a skin mount. ( and they will last a lot longer)
