  1. I am paying 25 cents per cubic meter for gas and 3 cents for transportation with Union Gas, I havn't seen any Gas distributors top that yet. Gas prices are still going down, in fact Natural Gas prices have dropped by 50% from three years ago. Come January when we have the next price adjustment we could be paying 20 cents a cubic meter. I agree with the pay as you go plan.
  2. Sorry but it's easier for me to post a link then to copy the image then photobucket it ...etc besides it was simply a heads up of something I saw and thought would be nice to share.

  8. I'll be there, sound like good times!
  9. When I lived in Northern Ontario it was well known that wolves will attack injured people, in fact one native woman that had seisures was found on the side of a road half eaten, by a truck drive who stopped because he saw a bunch of wolves flee that very spot. A trapper told me he shot 5 wolves of a 7 pack, he shot them because they were making a b-line directly towards him.
  10. I think every line has it's purpose
  11. Here is the link, enjoy! I bought 38 of them and they seem to work like the NK28's. http://northernkinglures.estorespecialists...ight-c-1_2.html
  12. Costs would be shipping + taxes. If you use UPS or another courier there they would charge a customs brokerage fee of about $30. If it was sent through the USPS then you only pay tax just like here.
  13. You have a good point here, a cheaper $US means their debt is cheaper provided they previously made that hedge with Gold or some other currency. The other way they can have cheaper debt is through inflation. With high inflation the value of the dollar becomes less. One other way is for the US to simply print money to pay off their debt, since the US$ is no longer backed by gold and is supported by itself. Let the printing presses run at full steam, problem is that devalues the US$, kinda like a company increasing it's # of shares while the companies value stays the same, the shares are worth less.
  14. The main issue the US is dealing with is credit. Americans are in then greatest amount of debt per person then ever in the history of the USA. Credit cards are maxed out, because of a long period of cheap mortgage rates renters became owners etc. The USA raised interest rates to try and curb spending but then consumer confidence started to fall and the USA recently started lowering interest rates. Basically it isn't a good position for a country to be in, Consumers in high debt and raising rates not possible due to economic reasons. Eventually the USA will have to raise rates to once again curb inflation and the world money lenders know this and are thus pulling money out of the US dollar and putting it into Gold or resource countries like Canada. Our dollar is in a position to rise even further, there is talk of $100 oil and $1000 gold, if this happens then our dollar could be at $1.20. The US is the most wealthiest nation in the world and will get this sorted out, in the meanwhile I'll be accumulating money with the idea of investing in US properties once the US$ gets straigtened out.
  15. Any animal that maims a human has to be put down for the reasons stated by Terry. Ouch!!
  16. "2) I MUST stay between 17' and 18'. Hope closer to 18 if I could but I MUST be able to put it in my garage even if I have to pay extra to modify the tong in to foldable one. Someone told me Cabelas sells kits for $100 which is not bad. My garage is 20' long and about 8' wide. It is double car garage but with separate doors." If your garage is 20' long then it's hard to imaging getting an 18' boat in there. If you consider the boat being 18' add 2' for the motor and 1' for the front of the trailer (even with a fold away tongue), you are already over 20'. someone else may want to clarify this. If your garage is 8' wide then you will need to look at the trailer very carefully. My suggestion would be to put in a laminated beam and join the two garage doors and buy one large single door. You could then angle a larger boat into the garage. My friend did this and has a 19' boat with a 100" beam in his garage. Yea it's aluminum and no he doesn't get spray nor bounce around when trolling. Incidently I own a 16 1/2 foot aluminum boat and don't bounce around in rough water as long as I use my big motor, using the kicker motor in rough water is a little bouncy. I do get spray only when flying in rough water, on those hot days I appreciate the spray...lol I've never had to run the bilge unless flying back in rough water, whoever told you that you would have to run a bilge all day with an aluminum boat, lied to you or their boat had a leak. Generally aluminum boats ride the waves while fiberglass boats push through the waves. If you buy a glass boat then be carefull of the weight vs the weight of your pathfinder, you may need to consider trailer brakes.
  17. I've been using Big Jon downriggers for 20 years now and I think I am finally tired of repairing them. I've had the following repairs; on the electrics primarily the motors go and am tired of the $132 bill. On manuals have changed clutches, bearings, and most recently had a downrigger arm snap. When looking at other rigger companies I see some offer lifetime warranties while others like Big Jon don't offer much except headaches. Didn't mind the headaches when I was younger but think age is starting to catch up. Any Suggestions are appreciated, will be selling my 5 Big Jon's this winter and buying a new setup.
  18. Would have to agree, I don't know of anyone with a 4 stroke that has had engine problems. My next motor will be a 4 stroke.
  19. I think it will be hard to find what you are looking for given the price range. Here are my suggestions for what they are worth Aluminum / trailering glass if you are leaving it at a slip Forget welded 19' starcraft fishmaster has 100" beam and is almost 5 feet deep can be bought used for about 15,000 in Canada and half of that in the USA with main and kicker motor. Boat is extremely stable. Laughs at 7 foot waves. Cut the tongue and make an insert tongue. 4 stroke all the way and I like the Yamaha's Buy from the USA and trailer it back but make sure you know the regulations and you will save $$
  20. To be quite frank I think he was very lucky. To go out on the lake and have your only backup being a hand held VHF unit, what if something had gone wrong with his only backup? In fact there were at least 3 other boaters fishing the same area at the same time that said they never heard the call, very lucky the coast guard did. If he had fired off a flare or had given the 3 air horn blast I'm sure he would have never had to call in the coast guard volunteers as he would have given other mariners a chance to respond. I am still shaking my head and wondering how many other boaters out there put their and their passengers lives at such risk! As boaters our first responsibility is safety, I don't go in others boats very often but after this post I can tell you I will be asking them what their backups are if I do enter their vessel.
  21. Forget the Canadian Tire get past the OPP safety kit. Buy Flares, have an air horn, install a bilge pump, keep a charged spare battery if your motor is electric start. Keep your eyes on the sky, on the big lakes if the wind picks up and remains strong after 5 minutes then leave.
  22. I'm glad everything ended up ok. Safety should be the first thing on your mind when boating, but even with safety to the nines things still happen. Backups on backups on backups are a good idea. The following are life savers on lakes like Erie, kicker motors, flares, air horns, proper anchors, VHF radio's, GPS, kill switch attached to you when you are alone, a bilge(and a backup bilge motor) etc... This all being said we once had to have the Coast Guard's rescue unit tow us in on a 33 foot boat off of Long Point. When we got to shore they said no charge but about two weeks later we received a bill for $300.00. Ya no charge at the moment,,,lol. Did you notice they took your name, address etc... There is always a risk going on the water, try and keep it at a minimum, in your case with a 16 foot glass on Erie well you are already in the high risk category. You may want to think of some measures to start reducing that risk.
