2019-2020 Hockey Thread
grimsbylander replied to DRIFTER_016's topic in Non-Outdoors Open Discussion
I think it's 3 reasons. 1) There's the resentment by the ex-fans, like Matt, who act like they got their heart broken because the Leafs owed them something and cheated them out of their Stanley Cup. And because Leafs didn't win them a Stanley Cup they're going to go adorn another team with their golden but fragile admiration. And it's not enough to just move on...no...they're also going to play the part of the lovesick victim that got cheated on and hate the Leafs forever. Making sure that they take shots at ever opportunity because their fragile little hearts never really ever mended over the tragedy of their loss. When the Leafs do well and begin to have success, well, this just fires up the resentment even more. There's nothing like living good to get back at your enemies! And when Toronto finally gets their act together and pulls off the big win, a bunch of people from this group will have sheepishly already slid back into the fold with the diehards and mumble a few excuses about how their other long lost team let them down and they've been a Leaf fan at heart FOREVER. Pathetic bunch really. I'm not sure what's worse, the behaviour after switching teams or being so insecure that you can only show support for a team that is winning. 2) The fans of teams that are doing well HATE the attention the Leafs get. They are the hands down, undisputed heavy-weight champions of the sportscaster world and when Carolina wins and nobody gives a fat rats ass, it ticks off the fans that want their moment in the sun. Too bad I say...you chose to cheer for a team that shows up in shorts and plays for the same amount of fans as the OHL teams get, live with it. The Leafs rule the hockey market and can do it from LAST place. Think about that! 3) Good old-fashioned rivalries! This is the ONLY good reason there is and if Montreal fans hate Toronto because of the long history behind the teams... GOOD! Because I know the day is coming we're going to get some long awaited revenge and beat their butts, quiet their stupid la la goodbye song, and win the cup! And most importantly, if I'm still alive, I'll still be a Leaf fan. -
Trudeau on Rice Lake Tomorrow Friday the 13th

Trudeau's not worried. He talked to Wynne and she assured him no one can afford to turn on their computers...at least between 7am and 7pm. -
I'm not a fan of antler traps. I don't believe that jerry rigging a device to snag a bucks antlers and pop them off prematurely is good practice. Even if the odds are low of an animal getting harmed getting tangled, I just don't need the sheds that bad. As soon as the snow melts, go a walk. Great exercise and a good excuse to get out in the bush.

Yeah close.. -40 is friggin cold in imperial and freaking cold in metric.

Snowmobiler through the ice and missing in Peterborough

Wasteful tragedy. How can people not understand the dangers associated with ice and warm weather? You hear so much about it. Condolences to the families. -
The G2 is the first long tine after the the brow tines(G1). It's the scoring method for whitetail(plus other) bucks. If your ever wondering about size, a mature buck will be approx. 16" ear tip to ear tip and 8" from the center of the eye to the nose. Just part of the way to field score a bucks rack from pictures.
-
I can't tell if he's symmetrical from the pictures, but that large buck has antler mass. He's somewhere between 22" - 23" across and the G2 on his right is very close to 8". Very nice buck for sure.

That little weasel?? Yeah, I didn't like Alfredson either. We don't want Ryan. Besides, you're forgetting Ottawa takes Toronto's castoffs. Trade him and Phanuef for a Matthews jersey!! -

Matt busy...he's out looking for Bobby Ryan. Even the Sens don't want to play for the Sens! -

Thanks but I'll pass...that "feels like" temp is ridicules!

Am I seeing this correctly? The OP is the apparently associated with an outdoors shop in Toronto and with their first post asks about where to catch OOS fish, let's say any fish...all the while attempting to get a plug in for their store?

Looks like McCabe had to almost stop to make the hit...damn good thing for Laine. If McCabe kept his forward momentum it could have been worst. Hope he's alright. -
Another fun day of crappie fishing!

LOL!! "Saying someone is "wearing a tin foil hat" or "is a tin foil hat" means that they have paranoia or a belief in conspiracy theories, especially involving government surveillance or paranormal beings. Originally, the term referred to the practice of wearing headgear consisting of metal foil to block mind-reading." The guys a nut job.

Highlight goals are one thing...but highlight passes??? This kid's unreal fun to watch. And LOL to the Leo move!! I thought he was going to skate down the Caps bench touching gloves! Hahahahaha -
He must get cold on the lake wearing a tin foil hat.

Sounds great Art. I would sure like the opportunity to learn about your knife making skills. I'm a machinist by trade and have worked with many grades of aluminum, stainless, tool steels, inconel, waspoloy, and titanium BUT never had time to make components on the more artistic side of metalworking. I have one custom knife that's 30+ years old and has never made a cut or touched a stone. I can't bear to diminish it's condition for some reason. Here's a couple pics, wish I could make something like this. Sorry for the highjack Dan! oops!
