  1. The banter is fun but gee Matt, don't be such a huge pussy. You're completely invisible for days until the Leafs lose a game and then you miraculously have a thought enter your head. Do you really have nothing to add? Ever?
  2. Kevin, that sounds like a reasonable plan since the new unit has GPS. Depending on what make/model your older unit is, you might be able to purchase a puck style transducer which will make the trolling motor mounting much easier and just might fix the temp issue as well. As far as the power source is concerned, I have to disagree with Ironmaker...run a fused power line back to your cranking battery and don't power off your deep cycle batteries. The deep cycle batteries are going to get run down and fluctuate; the electronics need close to 12V to operate and don't like the drop.
  3. I agree with testing the circuits to isolate the draw. I'd hate to haul back batteries only to have the issue repeat. FYI on the trolling motor...I always unplug my motor as soon as it's back on the trailer. More of a safety issue but it's good to not have it plugged in when charging the system. Not sure if that's really the case but it doesn't hurt to do it.
  4. This is the second year Holtby got "injured" in practice during a playoff series. Might be all smoke and mirrors. Go get them boys!!
  5. The veterans need to come out hard and not let the Caps build momentum. This includes Leo and Bozak too. The rookies will follow suit and that'll mean pucks in the net.
  6. The fact that the props are molded plastic indicates they are anything but precision. Then we commonly knock them around on rocks and stumps as part of there daily routine. If the prop on a trolling motor needed to be to the OEM's exact specifications, they wouldn't be an injection molded piece of plastic designed to be destroyed. Now, if someone starts offering aftermarkets replacement motors, I'd be wary.
  7. Keep a standard life jacket in the boat. I have an auto inflate as well and wear it while fishing, but I wear my regular jacket while I'm running the big motor. Instances of auto inflate jackets NOT inflating are very common.
  8. Gotta love Dartdude lol
  9. Med vs Med hvy depends on the type of fishing you'll be doing. If I was fishing largies I'd be using 15 - 20lb line and a weedless hook...here I use a MH rod. For smallies, it's open water, lighter line and fine wire hooks... I use a med rod in a longer length, 7'. Decide which type of fishing you'll do more of and go that way. A middle of the road scenario would be a MV rod 7'.
  10. This is interesting....anyone try an aluminum prop? I fish mainly big water so obstructions are not a concern.
  11. I don't think I'd be cancelling so quickly. I'd call the guy and express my concerns. I'd request references from people that fished with "so and so". I'd ask questions like " how long have you been using "so and so"". "How many years has he guided that particular water". I'd also request his contact info and speak to him directly. Again, cancelling with zero follow up is just a knee jerk reaction because you feel slighted. Get over it and do some homework...just like you did ( I hope) when you picked the first guy.
  12. SNL included United in a couple skits as well...they can find humour in anything.
  13. The Russian women are finally going to see some internet action.
  14. That was a fantastic game...to take the favoured team into OT two games in a row is impressive. The Leafs are playing even with them too!
  15. I'm not surprised in the least that Phaneuf scored! But I am surprised it wasn't in his own net!!!
  16. Gee this brought back memories. Spent a few summers when I was a teenager working with my uncle in Dover. He had his own welding business and we worked on quite a few fishing boats.
  17. Pretty quiet on here considering they took the Caps to OT! I know Matt disappears every time the Sissytors lose but not Leafs fans! LOL
  18. With the exception of one shot, great game and an an excellent effort by the Leafs.
  19. I strongly suggest you keep looking if the seller has an issue with having a mechanic inspect the boat/motor. If there is an issue with the motor, it represents a huge part of that $12K and your "deal" becomes your nightmare. You sound very anxious to get a boat but don't let your heart take the lead here...it's your head that'll save your butt. Good luck and let us know how it goes!!
  20. 50hp is not bad for a 1625 Rebel. It's not maxed out but it's respectable power and I can't see you being disappointed. Will you be fishing big water? ie Great Lakes? Will you be loading it down with 3+ adults?
  21. For heavens sake don't tell the owner you're looking for barnacles!!! LOL He just figure out your a new boat owner!! Being a newbie sort of speaking, find a boat you like and get it checked out by a marine mechanic. The mechanic can check the motor but also inspect the boat's electrical and plumbing. Any mechanic that's been in the business long enough will also have the eye to look over the aluminum structure. Then arrange a test drive but get the mechanic or an experienced friend to tag along.
  22. Hi Chad and welcome. Sounds like you will have a positive impact on the site and you're a fisherman to boot!! I'm not a member of Muskies Canada but I sure love fishing the Gananoque stretch of the river. Scenic, clean and a tremendous fishery.
  23. Are we forgetting Ottawa hasn't won since 1927???!!!! So anyone that remembers that win is at least 100 years old!!! LOL Oh the glory years in Ottawa...saddling up your horse and heading to the outdoor rink for the big game. Apparently it was a great series and if movie cameras had been invented, we could all enjoy the LAST winning team in Ottawa!!!
  24. It's that time of year! I pulled mine out of the backyard and started prepping it for the season. Started with a good wash but I'll probably give it another coat of sealant and buff it so it really shines and protects the gelcoat!
  25. What money?? Ottawa doesn't sell tickets, they give them away!!
