  1. I have the lastest software. I know my settings are good because all season it was fantastic. I read something that if the wires are around other electrical wires, the signal gets distorted. Something i never checked though, didnt come to me that day. I was also using my hummbird finder on the bow, (hds on the console) at the same time. If they both operate at 200khz, do you think thered be crosstalk? But then my humminbird display was clear.
  2. Hmm mine are very similar. Except I use manual, ping speed of 18-19. and low noise reduction. I was in 30 feet of water, even on auto and my whole screen was just covered.I could reduce the sensitivity on auto but than I'd get no definition on anything. Do these units have problems with wire interference?
  3. I had really good settings that I found on bbc forum. Last week on simcoe my finder was giving really bad reads, the whole screen was clutter, lowered sensitivity but then I couldn't see anything. Not to sure what happened, transducer and everything is hooked up properly. anyone care to share/pm settings for the sonar so I can try em out this weekend, and rule out my transducer as the problem. Thanks
  4. Good luck to those participating. I was thinking of heading to simcoe for first time ever on softwater, if the bites been tough i might reconsider and head elsewhere. Would beaverton be good a place to start if i decided to head out? Almost 30lb for 5 fish is crazy, and all this time ive been heading elsewhere and lake simcoe is the closest to me!
  5. I have the hds 7, images that it shows are awesome. Looking too add an 8 next year.
  6. ill be out this weekend, you think i should concentrate on shallower water because of the weather, new to fall fishing off a boat. All my musky this year have been caught off spinners, havent even touched my bigger baits because the spinners keep producing.
  7. Sad day indeed. RIP Steve Jobs 56 is way to young.
  8. Nvm i dont have any extra pieces
  9. Nice rods, how do you like the nrx? If you dont mind me asking, where did you purchase it? I normally get all my stuff online but for a rod that expensive i want to see it in person first. Thanks
  10. Myself and a group of friends booked @ Emily p.p for 2 nights (fri, sat). 2 weeks ago it looked good, but now their is rain fri, lows of 3 and a high of 8 degrees on the weekend. Trying to decide whether we should still head out as were camping in tents (crazy lol). The winds are supposed to be 20-25km/hr, is that too rough to fish pigeon/buckhorn, everytime I've gone out this year it has been calm. Normally I shore fish in the fall with good results, but I want to bring my new boat (lund impact 1775) If I do decide to go, is their any section of pigeon that won't be hammered with winds, or that I should specifically focus on(not looking for exact spots). The past two weeks I had good luck just south of gagnon narrows (muskie, bass, walleye on spinnerbaits) Btw, terry I believe you were the one who asked, we managed best speed of 44.3 last week with three guys, full tank, full gear (15 rods, 10 tackle boxes, cooler, safety gear etc,) pretty good for a 115 imo. Thanks,
  11. Ya cause its the old curado painted a different colour. I bought the old curado off tacklewarehouse during their labour day sale for 100 (no duties too ) Same reel
  12. I just bought mine, expensive up here, 40 bucks. Three rivers marine (I think) sell a knock off for 20 in the states
  13. I got a nice 19" largemouth on the koopers frog. Its my new fav frog. Got 2 muskies on it too. Still going strong. Just have to squeeze out the water every few casts. Nice bass btw
  14. Money isn't a problem. Just have friends who work in the oil industry and recommend amsoil for everything including their mercs. Their mercs are past warranty but never have had problems. Just wanted to see what others used in their merc. Ill be getting the opti oil to be on a safe side. Don't want to kill the new rig lol
  15. I was in break in, had it out in lake o twice, kawarthas for 2 full days. and every day for the past two weeks. So I've been using it alot
  16. I can get amsoil hpi for a very cheap price. Claims to work in optimax motors. Wondering if I should just get the optimax motor oil which will cost me 60 + tax or go with the amsoil which will cost me under 25 for a gallon. There's so many debates on which oil people use. and if I read correctly, mercury can't force you to use their oil, so that means I'd still have the 5 year warranty correct? I went through a gallon in a month so that's why I'm looking @ other options. If its not a good idea I don't have a problem getting the opti oil. Thanks
  17. i can cast 1/8 oz jig heads with a twister tail no problem. Mind you the rod is a lighter action and i use a daiwa SOL/pixy or shimano core. The distance isnt as good as with a 1/4 oz jig but i dont birdsnest. I dont even thumb my spool anymore. But as you use them you learn and get used to it. Unless you have the more expensive reels (or some of the japanese reels) casting a 1/8oz lure will be a difficult task, save it for a spinning setup
  18. Vitor should be dq. First franklin now akiyama, so many shots to the back of the head. Dangerous, see how akiyama dropped dead. Yes vitor prob would of won, but those were straight illegal punches to the back of the head. Tito was finished after the first, looked like he had the guilotine like the bader fight but rashad was in half guard making it impossible. Rory mcdonald looked impressive again against pyle who is a tough fighter
  19. Its the 115 opti. 1775. Top speed with 1 man unsure but merc bulletins puts it around 47, and ive seen others hit in the 46 range. I hit 42 with a full tank of gas, loaded, 3 200lb guys, aluminum prop. I havent fully broken it in, but i dont think ill gain much more. I also looked around for 2 years. I decided on a starcraft or a lund. I didnt mind legend, but my brother didnt like the interior colour and told me everyday, were getting the lund after he seen the black colour on the boat, loved the look of it. Starcraft i ruled out after as i decided that i mainly fish inland and not in the great lakes. (Those boats are huge, deep, wide gunnels, prob awesome in rough water.) The impact will do until i finish school and get a real job, than ill be saving up for a ranger haha.
  20. Yep just took a look, it indeed is, i was thinking of a different boat from legend. I have a Impact with a 115, awesome boat. I ended up with the full windshield, also was a hard to decision whether or not to fork the extra money for it. As for 2 stroke/4 i would go for the 2 if you end up purchasing the boat. Ive been out a few times so far and was surprised at how little gas i used.
  21. which lund were you comparing it too? The rebel?
  22. I just bought a lowrance hds 7 as a finder/gps combo. Bought the Premium Navionics maps. Love the gps, even when fishing familiar kawartha lakes, it helps.
  23. Since I'm 6'1 I prefer longer rods. Shortest is 6'9 for dropshotting. Everything else for casting is 7'- 7'6. I have no problems with accuracy. I broke one of my rods and used my brothers 6'6, felt so awkward haha. all personal preference though. Braid on my casting reels. Fluro on my crankbait rod. I put braid on my spinning reel, hated it.
  24. Keep it, a real chronarch! Not a fan of the grips on the reels also.
  25. I have a chronarch d, awesome reel. But what I'm trying to point out is this new chronarch is just a rebadged curado, nothing else. Its not a true chronarch. I was actually waiting for them to release it but when I found this out, ill pass. I have too many reels anyways so I guess this helps me out in a way
