I'm glad I bought a Lowe. I almost bought a Legend from the Ft. Erie dealer. Then one day I was driving down the 400 and stopped into the company owned Legend dealer on the highway. I met that "Jeff" guy, apparently the owners son, and instantly took a disliking to him and the company. That guy should be working in the parts room away from the public! Sorry to hear of your misfortune, with any luck your dissatisfaction and the other comments on this board may help you out.

I'm looking for a park to camp in local to Hamilton
pikehunter replied to banger's topic in General Discussion
Byng Island Dunnville. It is above the dam but there are many fishing opportunities above and below. Go to Dunnv., cross the bridge and take the first right to the park entrance. There are many seasonal camps along the river between Cayuga and Dunnv. Maybe you could even camp right at the Grand Is. BBQ, I have seen tents pitched there overnight and it is right at the bridge across the river from Dunnv. Good fries, homemade burgers and foot long dogs at the BBQ and the sitdown restaurant has breakfast. You could pull your camper right up to the edge and fish from your lawnchair. Shopping and the beerstore is close by. -
Depends on how it runs and the appearance. If it is clean and not abused then it is worth something. Searches for used outboards on the net say that somewhere between 500 and $800. Don't forget that when that motor was new it would have been under a grand. If you can get anything over 300 bucks for it you are doing OK. If you haven't any use for it why hang onto it? Sell it and put the funds toward some new gear. I traded in a 70's something 4.5 hp Merc a couple of years ago and they gave me a bit better than 300 or so for it. If you are selling it for a hundred bucks then guys will be knocking down your door for it! If it runs OK I'll give you a hundred for it and make a buck or 2. 9.9 motors are a hot item!

I believe Terry said it well.

Have a look at the Ontario Job Futures. Not always that accurate but at least it has some information to help you. Ont. job futures here

Rizzo, it is hard on the wallet. SO hard that you would have to mortgage the farm to get a plate with 4 rib bones on it. Actually No-Frills has ribs on sale right now for $2 and change a pound. For what it would cost you to feed 2 people you could cook enough ribs for about 8 people. The last time I BBQ'd ribs I boiled them first then rubbed them down with a mesquite dry rub with a little garlic powder and onion powder then tossed them on the BBQ, my son and wife devoured them claiming that they were better and tenderer than what they ate at the ribfest. BTW, a Jimmy Buffet copycat band plays there tomorrow at 2 or 3 pm? Maybe we will go down after all.

Great pictures and report! I didn't know the river held perch either nice to hear that. You really did get a nice mixed bag of fish.

No need to be sorry! You posted some fantastic pictures!

I am not surprised!

No Need to fear about missing it as it runs until Labour Day. If there is no where to park you can park your car at Mapleview Mall at Fairview and Maple Av. and catch a free shuttle bus to the Rib Fest. We use to live about 4 blocks from there. Not anymore, and I probably won't go near the place this year. To all that go have a good time and be prepared to wait in line to buy anything. They expect over 160,000 people to attend this years festival. here's the Link and a $3 off coupon

I believe Nichol's Marine in Ft. Erie has or can get Chrysler parts. They have a website too. Try a Google search, I'm not sure if Nichol is with one or 2 "L's"

I hear you on the clearance problem. Could you pick up a new one already installed on a rim, take it home and try it. Don't go towing it anywhere until you are sure if it will work. If it doesn't take it back for a refund.

What slogan should we paint on their boat?
-
If you can get 12" tires and rims on it why not go with them? 4" can make a difference! Just ask any wo.....oh never mind I won't go there.

Just as Uncle Buck said. The bay (harbour) can get nasty, just like any waterway can. A North, Northwest wind and LaSalle in Burlington is OK to launch from. Wind from the South, Southeast and Bayfront Park is a better bet. If it is windy the waves in the bay can become quite steep, straight up and close together. Should be fine in your 14' if the conditions are decent, better if it isn't a shallow boat. I have been out there in a 12' and survived. If you decide to go through the canal and out into the lake the passage trough can be very rough. The larger boats kick up big wakes and those guys don't care about you in your small boat. The combination of incoming waves and the boat wakes and the resulting waves rebounding off the pier walls can be seriously terrifying. Better wear dark pants and take a change of underwear with you! Give it a try you can have a good day there. Now Jordan Harbour I don't know, I have thought of it when driving past. I am fearful of launching in Lake O. and the wind turns around and then getting trapped all of a sudden in Jordan because of large waves. I know, I'm a chicken.

Gas stations, casinos, tackle shops...they all take our money. Too bad I can't avoid at least one of these places.

Other than the shop wasn't open, only the worm fridge and then again guess I never thought of it? Maybe the next time I will try them, but they kinds of give me the creeps.

My son and I finally had a morning together so we hooked the boat up and drove down to Pt. Maitland. On the way we stopped in and picked up the last dozen worms from Fishmaster's 24 bait shack and were the first to launch from the port. We went straight out to Gull Island. My son was determined that worms were the bait of the day so I tried various Mepps and plastics then finally gave in and hooked up a worm after my son lost a nice high jumping bass and I had nothing. Well the worms only allowed me to feed the gobies while my son never lost one worm to the stinking little thieves! So at about this time he says that he has had enough! The wind was cold and his allergies were bad. Then about 5 minutes later he hooks into this one! 17" long and a really good fight made his day for him. Then 20 minutes later the excitement wore off and the next thing to come from him was "Let's go now." I have to admit, I was getting cold too and still hadn't enticed a bass or even a sheephead to bight so I agreed and we made it back home for a pizza lunch. It was a good morning and a nice ending to August.

Some fantastic automotive history there. Surprised to see an old 1970's Caddy over on your side of the pond. In answer to your question

Ahhhhh...so what you are really telling us is that we will have to wait till the next time to find out if the skunk recipie works? Really though, I'm happy to hear that the story had a happy ending.
-
Crap, I have one of those too. Bought it on sale, I hope I can find the receipt for it. It seems to act strange sometimes also. I used it last night to charge my wifes car battery as my son left the lights on and drained it. Started off at 60% charge (this is after it was boosted to start the car and then a half hour drive home,) then after about 2 hours later of charging at 12amps it was only at 70%. Around 11pm it finally hit 100% after being on the charger for about6 hours. Does that sound about right? One day while charging my deep cycle I checked in on it and it was flashing all kinds of dofferent info and not charging but the fan was running. I unplugged it and started again, it worked OK then...I think What do you think, is this one screwed too?

Yep, nothing wrong with that. Actually all the basic tinnys are good these days. Remember rows of rivets (double is better) beam and depth are important factors. Once you start looking around you will find that some have a split tiller seat which is a nice feature as it gives you some room to move around. Also if you are considering a 14' get a price on the same model in a 16'. Should only be a couple of hundred dollars more and there is more room and you will also gain because of the higher weight capacity the 16 offers. Lund, Lowe, Alumacraft, Crestliner, PolarKraft, Starcraft, Smokercraft are all good brands. Compare prices, features, what is included in the price and what the hidden charges are and the dealers attitude is important. Evinrude motors are E-Tech if over 40 hp. 40 and under are Johnsons and available in a 4 stroke which is a Suzuki painted white . Johnsons 2 Strokes could still be available in the under 40. Nissan outboards are at the bottom end of the price structure and the smaller Mercurys are made by Nissan (Well at least they were a couple of years ago.)
