  1. Nice work! Any relation to Pete Maina?
  2. One tip; I followed best buy, future shop, 2001 audio video, bay, sears flyers every week for almost 3 months to get the best deal. Once I thought I had the best deal n a 42" LCD at best buy, I went to Costco and found it for 50 bucks cheaper. On top of the better price, Costco adds an additional one year warranty on top of first year manufacture warranty for no cost. Two years where id have to pay extra for that. Buy it from Costco.
  3. You're an honorary Candian in my books. Too bad that off duty officer from Kalamazoo Michigan wasn't more familiar with Canadian hospitality. I would post link to the story but can't cut and paste on an iPad.......don't know how actually.
  4. I've also been trying to update my info for some time; picture, info, avatar?, it's a bit overwhelming especially if your not a techy. Still haven't got my jpeg to show when I post. This is might detour some newbies.
  5. This is like an FA addicts meeting (fishaholics anonymous)! My name is Emanuel and I live in etobicoke with my lovely wife and fantastic 5 month old daughter. Been fishing for 30 plus years.....but started young mostly in urban areas around southern Ontario (toronto, Hamilton, dundas, Burlington)! Favorites species are bass, pike, steelhead, walleye. Love to fish, whenever I can get out, it this summer has been about my daughter. I'll catch up down the road. Cheers.
  6. Hey peeps, thanks for stopping by!

  7. Great day! Looking forward to fishing ith my little 5 month old in the future.
  8. I would say both regs need to be reexamined. Gill nets over harvesting and killing of other species, and there's also many fisherman out there who never practice cch and release and keep whtever the regs allow.
  9. Never checked, but do the packages have an expiry date on them? Did any water get into the bag? Since they're biodegradable, maybe the recipe portions got mixed up and more of those chemicals got added.
  10. Try to find the clearer water cause usually that's where the fish will be hiding.
  11. Try swimbaits and paddle tails on 1/2oz to 1oz jigs depending on depth. Weighted hooks will also work for weedier areas. Carolina rig a lizard will work well too. And an old school method that still works is a 4 to 5 inch grub (chanteuse or white my favorite) on a heavy jig.
  12. I haven't done this since i was a kid and I'm just curious as to why this would be? Could you use one whole as a bait for something like pike?
  13. I'll take a guess; super low water this year, shallow lake, and extreme heat. I think a bunch of the weeds dies and are decomposing. I went beginning of July and found the same thing.
  14. I use a 6'-6" ugly stick medium, that cost about 50 bucks for a ton of bass and pike fishing. This is my hard to get places rod (trekking through bush, mountain biking in, or just tossing a rod around camping). They're so flexible, hard to break, cheap and have a 5 year warranty. My uncle who taught me to fish as a kid used so i'm slightly impartial. You can go light cause of the soft tip, or fish the weeds with braid as I'm not concerned about breaking. Had to swap it out at a dealer in Orillia 3 years ago cause the cork on the handle broke and no hassles. Great bank for the buck!
  15. I agree with Sinclair, these are two great setups in terms of multi species setups.
  16. What kind of line do you use? The larger spool will produce less line twist and nesting, especially with fluoro. Another trick to save on line cost is to spool have your reel with cheaper mono. I usually use 8lb big game for about 50 or 60 yards, tie A double uni knot, then spool the rest with better quality braid or fluoro.
  17. Awesome story and great pictures to allow us to share your adventure. Great to hear the northern lakes are garbage free. That's one thing that drives me crazy about the populated spots I go. One question; braid, fluoro or mono on your reel for the epic battle?
  18. Beauty....lamprey wound?
  19. I' just like dislike anyone fishing there period. I grew up close by and have fished mountsberg for over 20 years. It was a secret spot Italo told us about back in the day, where big bass lurk in the weeds. I have seen this place deconstruct first hand and would support MNR enforcement. I would even support declarling it a fish santuary with bass stocking program for several to let it regenerate. Stop the poachers!

    Myths

Dip your lures in gasoline or motor oil. Bad for the lake too
