Bank up the snow as high as you can afford without jeopardizing the strength of tent. About 5-10 minutes before bed, start up the Coleman lantern. Leave your sleeping bag open for this period and place the clothes you are going to wear the next day between your sleeping bag and roll. Sleep with socks on and have a toque handy to put on as well. Don't forget a pee bottle so you don't have to go out side. You waste more heat and energy avoiding to go pee than to just suck it up and relieve yourself.

Small world Aaron. We were set up closer to shore than you guys. Had I've known it was you and Tony, I would have popped out to say "Hi". Some of those pressure cracks opened up and shifting when we got off the ice. The scariest moment was when my buddy was ahead of me by about 60 ft. The ice cracked and shifted about 14 inches. I should have taken a picture of it as you could see the shift by his sled tracks and foot prints. we got a late start but did put a hurten on lakers and a few whities. Depending on the age of the fixtures, you may be able to replace the seat as well. The sky is the limit on how to give advise to repair this. You have got your self a couple of highly sought after lures. The meadow mouse with a leather tail and leather ears is a very rare find. The river runt spook in that color, also unique. Thanks for the replies guys. Yes I do, I built my own portable fish finder set up a dozen or so yrs back and have since then, used one of my finders off the boat. I went a little over board setting up the case by adding a female jack to match my charger. I simply "back feed" from the jack. You can also just use alligator clips directly to the battery. I really like the quietness of the Mr heater buddy. It is better than any of teh other heating sources I have used. The "Sunflower" style heaters generate a lot of heat but are just plain noisy. I don't like the fumes from any blue flame burner as in a propane stove or even the naphtha fuel stoves. With the fan on the heater, I can set unit to the lower setting and have better heat throughout the hut.

I have been tinkering for a while trying to find something to improve the efficiency of my Mr. Heater Buddy. I think I have finally come up with a solution. I dismantled my old Dell computer which I had replaced with a newer Asus gen II, I took the processor fan out as most will know, computers run based on a 12 volt DC system. I then attached longer wire leads to the fan motor, (pay special attention to polarity), I then installed a matching terminal to my charger and also added a broom handle holster which is simply taped on with black electrical tape. The holster fits snug on the handle of the Mr. Heater buddy and also will fit the frame of my Frabill Trekker. I found the fan worked best on the heater though. here are a few pics. You may have to modify to see fit for your application. Total cost for this: new computer - $1356.59, broom handle holster - $3.38, terminal end - $1.13, electrical tape used for this project - $0.33, water tight heat shrink crimps - $0.58. Now I'm sure you can find a cheaper fan motor or may even have an old computer laying around you can take it out of to bring the cost down. Cheers, Ron...

Nice greg, i have been out pluging holes with my Normark gas auger in some areas. Ice has varied in depth from 6 to 8 inches as per what my Lufkin tape measure has been saying. i would have taken pictures but i forgot my panasonic FMZ20 behind. It is however, handy to bunker up in my Frabil guide hut to get out of the elements. the weather forcast which i received on my Blackberry was right on the money. We caught several Lake trout using our HT rods combined with Shimano Stradics 1500 series which were spooled up with Trilene 8 lb XT tipped with 6 lb Seaguar abraisxx flourocarbon. To top it off, with the Stringease quick clips, the Peterson's Puppet minnows produced majority of our fish. Some of the fish we caught almost made me stain my Fruit of the Looms thermo underware. It's a good thing I don't have a self promoted guiding service or i would be booked up solid til 2014. BTW, nice fish..... Cheers, Ron...
