i would run a hi viz 10lb braid, the hi viz will make it easier to see if your line gets off vertical

nothing but hearsay. he told you what he "thinks" is the reason for digitizing the license process, not the actual reason. lied to you again, the fees arent much considering the time we spend on them, but if you bought a card and one year sport tag, he made almost $2, a far cry from $.25. as i said, my understanding as an outside issuer is that they moved to an electronic system to eliminate the "middleman" so to speak, the information entered into the new system automatically updates the outdoors card centre and the MNR's files (which by the way, outside issuers DO NOT have access to), instead of an issuer sitting on the paperwork for 4-6 weeks, then sent to the district office where it is double checked for accuracy and then sent to the outdoors card centre to be processed and keyed into the system. for the original poster, there were too many links in the chain to just blindly blame the store you bought the license from, and for a retailer to tell you they ripped you off and that a lot of small license issuers were doing this and skimming off the top is incredibly unprofessional and inaccurate. even with the old system of doing licenses the MNR were able to track every single license they sent every single issuer and any that weren't remitted still had to be paid for. The government gets their money one way or another.

couldn't have said it better my self

Anyone itching for bass yet ???
DaveMc replied to rippinlipsfishingteam's topic in General Discussion
luckily i am close enough that about the same time my buddy get the boat ready Michigan opens an early catch and release season. -
with that rod in mind i wouldn't really want to break the bank on a very expensive reel, the Caenan from Shimano would fit the bill nicely. *note* Sellus is a new 2012 line from Shimano

I started out casting with my right hand and switching to reel, but soon switched to left hand retrieve. i am the sam as your self, spinning i reel left. i found it more natural reeling with my left hand on a bait caster. this being your first time using a baitcaster, expect some very nasty birds nests until you get the feel of them. the more you get out there and cast the quicker you will get the feel for it.

Shimano Compre CPC72HC, 7'2" so it is a touch short but it is a stout rod and falls within your budget. (i have one sitting in front of me and will be using it heavily this year) St Croix Mojo Bass MBC711HMF flippin' rod looks good as well. i think the 7'2" compre will do well pulling double duty flipping and frogging.

yes, it is unlikely to happen, but according to several CO's, the local MNR office, the District MNR office and the Peterborough office, as soon as you remove a fish from the water (even to take a quick pic and then release) it is considered to be in your possession.

as both a manufacturer and a retailer i wont provide hard numbers, all i can say is as a manufacturer it would be nice to pull 50% margin on my products going to a distributor, im sure the distributors would kill for 50% margin and as a retailer i would love to double my money on everything, but none of that is a reality that i have seen, yes i do have a goal to hit a certain margin to ensure i keep the lights on in the store and have enough left over to increase stock and bring in more new products. as far as plastics go it would blow your mind if you saw the increases in raw material we saw in the last year. and yet we are not only expected to keep our prices the same but lower them.

No where near correct, i cant get into details but that isnt quite correct.

well, if its like last year, i will be fishing in the store here, and with every dip of the net i will catch dozens of fish, too bad they will be about 3" long LOL, then get to hear where everyone else will be fishing LOL.

the trolling eyecon rods have a reel seat that can handle the larger reels, and the handles are different. the reel seat on the bounce and troll model is made for the low profile bait casters.
-
i wont know 100% till mid april but i doubt it. The eyecon line has a series of trolling rods though.

St Croix ECC70MHM would be my first choice with the Okuma DE-CBR-710M-T bringing in a close second, you should have no trouble finding them between $100 and $150

Ran across these post 2 posts late last year made by Dan Thorburn, product support specialist for Shimano USA. "We tested the micro guides and there is no gain in performance by using them. Fuji even claims the same findings. The only difference is the weight and cost. Because they are so small you need to use twice and many guides to keep the line from contacting the blank under a load. When you consider this there is no benefit when you have to use twice as many. The reason most manufacturers have switched to them I think is so they can make more money on the rods. Micro guides are half the price of normal guides. Yes it makes the rod lighter but now you have line touching the blank unless you do it the right way and double the guides. Then you have the same weight (maybe more with the extra thread and epoxy) and the same cost." and when stated that you get less line slap and longer casts with micro guides.... "I don't see how you get less line slap when the guides are that close to the blank. Fuji told us there is no gain in performance with the Micro Guides. I figure because they make them they would know best. I fished a Cumara CUC68M with normal SiC guides and one we had made with micros. I could not see any difference in casting distance or any gains in performance that made me say "Let's use these". Shortly after we had a meeting with Fuji and they gave us the news on the micros not offering any advantage. We have a very good relationship with Fuji and I trust their engineers. Guides on a conventional rod will not have any affect on line twist. Casting reels are not like spinning reels. Any line twist you will get in a casting reel is because of the lure you are using. Some just cause twist because of the design. " if i find more i will post it.

I just wanted to let all the steelheaders here know that we have been branching out to cater to them as well. For the last couple years we have been working on some steelhead products for the river crowd. We just re-launched our Glo Balls with new packaging and formula at the end of 2011. Our singles are packaged 15grams to a jar, they are packaged in BioEdge's Salmon Egg attractant (made from REAL processed salmon eggs). something else we have been working on as well is Spawn Sacs, made using our artificial Glow Balls. Right now we have our 8mm tied 3 to a sac and packaged 8 sacs to a jar soaked in the BioEdge attractant. Here is a few pics of some of the colours available and a pic of a couple Spawn Sacs. just make sure that if you reverse or void a licence the mnr actually reverses or voids it, they have been know to charge for the reversals now and again. have fun with it, i hope you dont run into any of the issues some of us have. and if you need to find a postal code LMAO they have one person available for it in Peterborough and you will never reach him when your customer is standing there waiting for their licence, and calling the outdoors card center is a crap shoot, (tech support, the only ones that actually are available all the time are no longer allowed to access the mnr files) As well, the yellow slip you receive from an issuer or service canada isnt a paper slip, it is what the mnr calls "durable stock" and is plastic. attached is a pic of a blank tag that i tried to tear in 2.
