Well just like every other time I put the boat in the water the winds were crazy today. Got on the water a little late around 8am off by noon. Fishing was slower than normal for this lake. Caught about 15 fish today. Missed about 10 more on the topwater frog ( 8 by my wife). Nice to get the boat in water none the less. Largest fish was just shy of 4lbs Picture doesn"t do this turtles size justice. 2 of them were on side by side rocks and they were massive about 18" across not length wise Thanks for looking Ian

Can of sardines with holes punched in it in a minnow trap. Set it over night in the morning you should have a full trap. I have never had bad luck with this method, always a full trap. I set it around dark and pick it up early morning. Ian

Waiting for Fred is nothing unusual LOL. I'm a big boy so I could have left and went fishing at any point. As for the rainbow guts on manifold that fish went back but maybe the next one won"t and I'll do the Grumpy Old men trick and put in in his backseat. Truck is a pigsty he'd never find it. lol Ian

I agree. however i will add to it. It should not matter the age of the other member grade 8 or 80 years old we should always be treating each other with respect and dignity. Thanks Ian

Well As we all now Saturday was the big day...... Sadly these are the only fish I saw as I was at the Zoo with Family Zoo was a dissapointment. time with family was good but if you have a choice go to Elmvale Jungle Zoo much more user friendly Neighbour wanted to get up early Sunday morning and go fishing. So I texted him at 5:30am at 7:30 he got back to me. I guess my idea of early and his are different LOL. So we went for an dhour or so before my sons skateboarding lessons at 10am. Manage 1 smallmouth around 1 1/2 lbs. Then second fish didn't seem like a bass to me. Called fred to net it as I just had a feeling, wasnt sure what it was but knew it wasn't a bass. Turned out to be this little beauty nice pound or so rainbow first I had caught at the dam in many many years Cheers Ian

Hey folks. Iwas talking to a friend today and she tells me that she catches rainbow, brown and brook trout from here parent dock. I have fished this stretch of water all my life and never caught or heard of a brown trout being caught. So I wanted to send her a photo of both a brown trout and brook trout to make sure the story is correct. So if any one has a nice side shot of a brook trout and a brown trout I could use to send her that would be great. Ian

Hey Guys after reading all the great posts about fly fishing I have decided to blow the dust off my fly rod. It has been about 10-12 years since its seen the light of day and the line is in need of replacement. Set up was purchased second hand when I was 16 came with abu garcia rod 9 ft eagle claw reel ,line, tippets, and about 80 flies. The lack of trout water made me put it away, however seeing the posts reminded me how much fun catching anything on a fly rod is. SO after my long winded explanation I am looking to buy a line. Targeting mostly trout less than 4 lbs, smallmouth and panfish. Lines I am consdidering Cortland 333Pro Trout Floating WF fly line Rio Gold High Performance Trout Fly Line Scientific Angler Mastery Headstart Opinions on these and other line welcome. Hopefully I will posting so Fly fishing catches soon Thanks in advance Ian

similar thing happened to my wife when pregnant. we were on Manitoulin Island visiting friends and doing an archery shoot when we stepped on a ground hornets nest. Never allergic before but she swelled up like crazy, luckily one of the people there was a nurse. benidry fixed it but later had a doctors appt and he prescribed a pen. Scary stuff. Glad your okay Ian -
Thanks to the Dr @ Soldier Memorial in Orillia.

My young lad wanted to go fishing when I got home from work so we grabbed the rods and headed to the dam to see if we could stir up some perch or rock bass. Anything to feed the craving until Bass opener LOL. My second cast with a mepps landed this unexpected catch. The picture is not great as I had to take it with my Blackberry. My wife was with us and has a camera that can take photos with great detail but apparently she was busy taking other pictures Its hard to tell but the photo is of a Speckle trout not anything spectacular, about 10 inches but great to see anyways. Here is one of my son with a nice slab of a rock bass Here are the other photos that my wife was taking when she was too busy to photograph my trout lol 2 seagulls were fighting on the other side of the dam and we couldn't figure out why until my wife zoomed in someone or thing had thrown a decent smallmouth up on the bank Hope you enjoyed Ian

I am watching for about the 10 th time, Alone in the Wilderness with Dick Proenneke. What an amazing story, and human being. I don't think I could have done what he did. Anyone know of other shows like this??? Ian

smallie. I have caught at least 10 like this from a small lake I fish that has both species. I find the smallies I catch around the weeds look like this. The ones of the rocks in the lake look normal. Ian

Well the young lad had a trip to CHappell Farms so the wife and I went fishing. You ever get the feeling you are forgetting something? Well it was the camera my wife forgot. She is pissed as she landed her PB today. I am not that upset as she whooped me 6 fish to 2. We hit the water around 11 am 15 min later my wife lands a personal best just shy of 4 lbs largie on topwater frog. I landed the next 2 fish, 1lb8oz and 2lbs. Then it was the Catherine show as I never landed another fish. We had at least 10 more strikes on the topwater frogs, I tried my Live Target frog for the first time, several strikes no hook ups. I usually use a scum frog and my ratio is 7 landed for every 10 strikes. Not sure what went wrong today. Most weeds are brown now but still holding fish. There seemed to be no pattern today, cast near fallen log nothing, cast in wide open area fish on. Then catch them in the weeds, next patch of weeds nothing. All in all a great day 8 fish in 3 1/2 hours little slow but several missed fish. Fish were not as fat as I had thought they would be, my wifes fish should have been at least 5 lbs based on the length of the fish, the smaller ones seemed to have chunkier stomachs. Ian
