Leaf Money Making Machine Won't Force Change Wednesday February 28, 2007 - City News Are blindly loyal Leaf fans actually responsible for the team's 40-year Stanley Cup drought? It sounds like a preposterous theory, but according to former Leafs G.M. Gord Stellick, it could be true. Stellick believes the fact that fans will sell-out the arena game after game, despite years of mediocrity, dissuades management from spending the money necessary to build a winner. "They're laughing all the way to the bank," Stellick boldly states. "Does it defy logic? Yeah. Is it the reality of the hockey fan, the hockey situation in Toronto? Yeah." "As long as you keep cutting that cheque or paying that money for a ticket, there's really no impetus on them to do anything else." The stats back up Stellicks assertion. Despite years of disappointing results, nearly every match is a sell-out, and the organization makes a staggering $8 million a game, in part by ad sales and television rights, but primarily through ticket sales. "To me there's no parallel in North America (for the) abuse the fans have taken for almost 40 years, with so little return." But some Torontonians believe the key to a Stanley Cup could be right around the corner. "I think the fan base will die out eventually," said Pat Ciero. "Because they're not winning and nobody likes cheering for a loser." (except for Leaf Fans...Tacklebuster) GO HABS GO!

Thanks Fisherman, I was sceptical about it to begin with, I guess I'll spend my $ on lures instead, lol.

that brings up another question if that ok. Is anyone using those solar powerd battery chargers for their boat batteries, and how well do they work?
-
someone needs to show those crazy divers the video of the sharks eating seals.

nice fish, can hear the dinner bell ringing right about now. And yes, I have to agree with Speil, that size laker allbeit its a nice size, but not that unusual.

I have about 12 reel, all Shimano and Daiwa from $70 - $300. The Shimano are nice and I have no complaints, but there is no doubt in my mind that Daiwa makes a superior reel. My best rods get the Daiwa's, and then I go down the line...so to speak.

keep your money, don't bother. Repairs very expensive, and can do more damange to the housing if you do hit something. The gains in terms of performance for a 50 HP motor are going to be negligable at best.

I think Pike are excellent eating, perhaps one of my fav's. I thought I would also add this pike cleaning link, which I think is the best I have seen so far. Some of you probably already seen this one, its in French, but the video is quite detailed so you dont really need audio, in case you dont speak French. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-32gVbaXDg

Great Pics, what an adventure of a lifetime. -
I wouldnt have believed it if I didn't read it for myself. You got goosed. Kind of good in a way, because I never saw that georgeous fish yet.

I have the Humminbird and am very pleased with it. I would also recommend that you take the required course. Not only is it the law to have a license, but it also very informative.

very cool, what pic was it?

I have three Loomis rods, two are 1 piece 6' rods, IMX and a HMX, and they are with out a doubt my favourite rods. I use them mostly for tubing, bass, walleye, and even for tossing spinners for pike. They are very light, and sensative. Put your best reel on it, and I am sure it will become your favourite combo.

cool report

dying to go fishing. If you venture out on cooks, you just might get your wish.

Wow, great pics and story. Not a chance I would have tried crossing that river with my car. I would be concerned about it stalling mid way. Makes for a great adventure though

Go Leafs Go (obviously Not Fishing)
Tacklebuster replied to wishn4fishn's topic in General Discussion
Go Leafs GO AWAY!, The only way the leafs will ever get better is to finish in the basement. Only when the fans stop paying rediculous prices to see a losing team, stop paying for leafs tv, and stop buying their merchandice, will the team get better. The Leafs are nothing but a cash cow for a bunch of investors, who could care less if the team wins or loses, becauses the fans will keep paying and buying regardless. All they need are a couple of token players to keep the fans interested. Go Habs Go to the cup. -
there were several great reports this year, but I always look forward with anticipation to Moosebunks reports. I enjoy reading his reports and he always has great pics.
