  1. the pike I've caught were all in the 4-6 lb range.
  2. I have had some good success on Hay Bay, walleye, bass, pike, drum. Apparently, Hay Bay has a higher walleye concentration than BOQ. The eastern end becomes shallow and weedy, and the western end gets deeper, always lots of boats trolling around for walleye. I have caught walleye trolling erie deerie (not sure of spelling), tipped with a night crawler.
  3. http://www.lakesimcoemessageboard.com/inde...;id_dbase=66035 check out the post, this guy is/was selling his boat for what seems like a good price.
  4. Goby's also eat the eggs/spawn of bass, walleye, whatever, but they are high in protein, and favoured by the Japanese. Bluffer's park is located at the end of Brimley Rd. What is a blue flag beach?
  5. I can't get over the size of those eyes, sorry to about your winning fish, oh well, fish and learn.
  6. I have that one as my bow mount, its ok for that, but not much more.
  7. those are some solid fish, well done.
  8. I have never used them before, but from everything I have read about them, I would have to say you have turned a senko into an ordinary plastic bait, and are not taking full advantage of its qualities, by your rigging. Most people fish them by rigging them whacky style, or drop shotting. When fishing them whacky style, a good tip in order to extend the longevity of the bait, is to slide a small rubber band (the kind that are used for braces) down to the centre of the bait, and place your hook between the rubber band and bait so as to fasten it to your hook but not pierce it. You can easily do a search on the techniques described.
  9. Whoa!, I'll say that was a pretty awesome day! Congrats.
  10. I found them many times in bass, perch, and walleye. Sometimes there are only a couple and you can just remove them from the fillet. I have to agree though, they don't do much for your appetite. However, if you cook your fish properly, they are harmless, just a bit more protein than you bargained for.
  11. I read some info that gasline antifreeze removes water from your gas tank? Is this true, and if so, wouldn't this solve the whole problem?
  12. I have heard of cougars in the Thunder Bay area.
  13. Drove that route several times, and swore if I ever did it again, I will go to Nipigon. Lake of Woods or Eagle Lake would also make for great fishing adventures. Have a safe trip, and good luck on your new adventure.
  14. Congrats on a great day out on LO. How's the finger going?
  15. Ah the erie dearie, one of my fav. musky lures. Great report
  16. what a great adventure!
  17. WTG, man I can't wait to get back out there.
  18. I think if your going to be fishing primarily large bodies of water, your outings are always going to be weather permitting, unless you have a boat thats at least 30'. I am bias towards Lund for a variety of reasons, but there are plenty of good boats out there. A reliable motor that can get you back is as important as the boat. One manufacturer I would stay away from is Bayliner. They are nice in terms of cosmetics, but lack in quality as far as their materials. Their fiberglass hulls are known for blistering, and their materials within the rest of the boat are of the lowest standard or non marine grade. You definately want a boat with a deep V hull design, and a full windshield as well. I have a lund 1700 with a 60 HP merc, and have spent many hours on L.O. and Simcoe, with the odd day I have had to turn around at the launch. As long as you play it safe, keep your eyes and ears on the weather, most boats in the 18'+ class will give you plenty of hours of enjoyment.
  19. snap files data recovery, if you google it, you should be able to find it and download it. Its free, not a trial version, very simple to use, fast, and can recover most file if they are not too old. I had a similar problem, tried all kinds of programs and this was the only one that worked, it even recovered an excel document that was lost 6 months ago, which I was very happy about because it was my fishing log . If you are interested pm me and I will email it to you.
  20. humminbird = stay away, sorry humminbird fans, just my opinion and experience. Go Lowrance.
  21. Great report, thanks for the plover picks
  22. Great day out there, especially when you can get your buddy into the fish too. I like the way they incrementally kept getting bigger.
  23. Great Catch! I've never fished Erie before, watermelon for walleye...salmon/trout spoons. 35'-45' Deep?...I would have thought 60-100 is deep, I guess thats Erie. I think I wouldn't have a clue what I was doing if I went out there...think I will stick to Simcoe.
  24. I contacted Mercury myself several months ago due to a similar post. They informed me that anything below 10% was fine. However, in light of some of the replies to this post I have a couple of questions. Why is ethanol more harmful to a boat motor as opposed to a car motor? How are you supposed to "avoid" ethanol, when every pump states that there may be up 10%?
