  1. A great way to start your ice fishing season! What recipe are they going to meet?
  2. Nice, they stay fresher longer on ice. Great fish Hope tomorrow is good for ya.
  3. I hope so. The stuff I heard was probably just hear/say and rumors. People like to talk...apparently me too haha
  4. Looks like a better outing than the last time. I guess you guys have your confidence back, huh? I havent caught a northern like that since my northern alberta days... Very nice man!!
  5. haha that's bad. I found Billy Bob was a nice guy. Still I prefer Trout Lake Bait (Bob's on the water), he's a great guy to talk to and gives you heavy dozens when he has lots of minnows. North Bay Outfitters now sells bait too, they are on Lakeshore and have an impressive selection of gear and decent pricing.
  6. I'd like to go tomorrow as well, but I have plans for dinner. We used shiners. Nipfisher knows where we were... just look for our drill holes.
  7. If Sudbury is anything like North Bay when it comes to fishing, which it probably is... then it's probably because of this years' warm weather or because people typically place their ice shacks on accessible lakes, near each other. we have many good or better lakes than Nipissing that rarely see ice fisherman. Like Paul said, enjoy paradise
  8. All vertical. 7 inches of ice. We treaded lightly and followed the shoreline, but the ice in our spot was safe for walking.
  9. You guys caught a bunch earlier this week didn't you? I only caught perch at that spot on Monday... I think that was you guys beside us, was it? I was the guy who drilled like 15 holes before a couple friends showed up.
  10. You guys stay there, I'll bring one of my walleye as bait and we'll fish your rivers! haha.
  11. Visentin needs a perfect game! Wedgewood played extremely well last night, good enough to play against the U.S.
  12. Sorry, yes I meant Billy Bob's. He's told some of the convenience stores that he won't be supplying them with minnows this year and other bait shops have also reported that he's not doing business this year. He may have personal reasons for leaving; I can't say for sure that it's because of the MNR announcment regarding Shiners from Simcoe/South. The bait shops in North Bay are quite concerned over the recent bait ban since there are very few bait suppliers around and because the annoucement was made just before the season begins. I guess the walleye will have to learn to eat chubs.
  13. too funny Mike. Maybe he'll cuddle with it like a stuffed animal.
  14. His doors are closed this year... he apparently announced it prior to the MNR's official announcement regarding the bait ban. I guess he saw it coming and since he mostly sells bait and not gear, he must think it's not worth opening up. I dont' know why The Nugget didn't report that information.
  15. A friend and I put in an evening fish on Nosbonsing tonight and caught four nice eater walleyes We also missed two huge, unidentified fish. He had his on for about a minute, as it just held bottom, gave some head shakes and then the hook slipped. I don't know how he missed it since he set the hook three times... dull hooks maybe, or maybe he hooked it in soft flesh. My big one was a log as I set the hook, but it slipped pretty much immediately. Oh well... I'm all smiles at catching my first good feed of walleye for the ice season at a new spot. Can't wait for Nipissing to have over 12" of ice so I can hit my regular spots. I hope others are enjoying the recent cold spell too. Sorry no pics, my hands got cold quick after scooping the minnows with my hands. I forgot a bucket and dip net. Fish on to all
  16. X2. When I'm in a canoe on a lake that gets three visitors a year, I'll take my chances and bring a few "pops". I guess in a canoe/paddleboat, both people are considered "operator".
  17. hahaha Gross. Do dogs learn "lessons"??? For his sake, I hope so!
  18. Mark Visentin is out tonight... for comparison purposes. I have a signed Mark Visentin Hockey Card so I was cheering for him. Go Can Go!
  19. Nice gear Jacques... All that's missing are the trout! I'm more than ready, infact I was on the ice today for a few hours. A few perch was all that I could find. Your tipups are working great by the way, I very much like them!!!!
  20. Right on... I'm so jealous that you guys are still catching! Maybe next time you'll get that Brown
  21. Good stuff Dave. Nice pike! It's getting cold here finally...
  22. Fin S http://www.tackledirect.com/lunker-city-fin-s-lures.html They look similar to the Walleye Assassins. I'm definitly going to try the Swammers... the Slammers impressed me for bass and Canadian made is a bonus. Thanks Harrison!! Going out to check the ice on Nosbonsing right now... if it's solid hopefully I'll get my first perch of the ice season.
  23. http://www.basspro.com/Berkley-reg-Gulp-reg-Alive-153-Fish-Fry/product/10202487/144309 Neat I've never seen these before. Odd looking baits.
