  1. My deepest condolences and prayers go out to all the families affected by this tragedy Kirill
  2. Nice report, haven't seen posting for a while can't wait for the monster channel cat reports and are there going to be anymore videos???
  3. Hey guys, Was looking around the net and ebay to get a cheap reel for a light outfit for walleye. Stumbled across okuma reels, they have really cheap prices and look to be pretty nice reels! I was looking at the okuma alumina 20 and looks like a nice light reel with 8 corrosion resistant bearings, and aluminum body to reduce the weight. Seems like a decent reel and only $50 US. Here is a pic check it out Then upon further research found this okuma reel the halogen special edition barrel baitcaster with a 5:1 gear ratio thought it would be a great muskie reel for only $55 US seems like a bargain! Here it is The question is has anyone used these reels since there is only one dealer in Canada and was wondering if they are quality reels or not? I will probably get one to see what kind of reels okuma makes but so far they look pretty good! Any reviews or info is greatly appreciated Thanks!
  4. Wow, unbelievable fishing u got up there, love reading your reports! Got a little piece of heaven up there!
  5. Another great report no suprise from you CC, wanted to get out today but thought the tribs would be too high and muddy but clearly you made a killing as always! Will be heading out next week hopefully at least hook into a couple fish!
  6. Great cause! Will be out and I always take all my garbage but this time will take some time to grab some other garbage on the way! Love to see a clean trib and will definately do my part!
  7. Just a something I was wondering about while watching the FLW tour today at lake Murray I believe not really sure, anyways these guys were catching close to 10 lb pre spawn females during the competition these were monsters guys had 30 lb stringers!!! I know the season there is probably open all year but was just wondering if a pre spawn bass that size will survive and spawn successfully after being caught and going through weigh in and being in the livewell? Is it a all year open season because of the longer growing season for these fish or because there are just so many bass in the southern part of the US? I was also thinking it could be because of the huge economic factor, because bass is all they fish for! I dunno what do you guys think! Love watching the FLW tour really wish they made stops in Canada that would be great to see some of the american pros up here! Here is a pic of the some of the monsters!
  8. I fish Moon River a lot and found that bass are everywhere, and the numbers just keep increasing every year! During pike opener hard to catch pike without hooking into a couple bass, and I found that the walleye are harder and harder to come by. So the bass populations are definately going up! Like Raf said it is best to save the pics of OOS fish for your personal photo album and not post them so that they don't stir up the pot in this highly sensitive topic. Tight Lines everyone!
  9. Raps have been playing the best ball I have seen from them in a while and can't wait for playoffs to start, I really think that they have a good chace this year at making a good run towards the finals. Will be cheering for them all the way
  10. Nice fish CC, unbelievable how you catch these fish so consistently my steelhead trips are rollercoaster rides, today I hit a trib and got completely skunked saw a few fish but no success on the spoons and spinners. Sent you a pm
  11. Nice fish! Great report! Keep them coming will probably head out this week after seeing all these successful steel reports! Will post a report as well!
  12. Wow, this news really hurts! I was planning on fishing the 115's this season and maybe doing a pro/am on simcoe. Was so pumped for the bass fishing season and try competitive fishing for the first time. I guess I will have to try other events, this is a really blow to competitive bass fishing in Canada, sponsors probably didn't see any substantial sales boosts from their investments and didn't want to cough up the big bucks. Even though I thought since it was televized there would be more sponsors this year but I guess not. Really sucks! I watched the FLW tour in the states and always wondered why they can't do a few competitions in Canada, Wal-mart definately has enough money and maybe this would bring some of the big american bass fishing names up here north of the border which would really be cool.
  13. I have $150 store credit at lebaron does anyone know if they carry the daiwa zillion? Want to go check it out. Thanks again for all the help guys, curado great reel and I have the regular retrieve model and love it. If not the zillion I am going to get a second curado
  14. Just as headhunter said it is for added sensitivity so that you can have direct contact with the graphite blank allowing you to feel more bites.
  15. Hey guys, I need a lowprofile baitcaster for burning spinnerbaits, don't own any with a high retrieve ratio. Planning on fishing some tournaments and really need a good burner to fan cast areas and cover water quickly. Was wondering which ones you guys would recommend? As far as price goes am willing to pay quite a bit since I want a good one that I can hang onto for a while. Need a model that comes in left hand retrieve as well. So far looking at the daiwa zillion but not really sure. Any tips would really help! Thanks again!
  16. Nice fish , great read!
  17. I got a quantum catalyst spinning rod last fall for tubes and other soft plastics, used it for smallmouth and worked great! No complaints very sensitive and had great backbone to get some good hooksets! So far great rod and can't beat ther price.
  18. Last year I went up in the first weeks of april and got about 15 suckers so they were already there just wondering if there are even a few suckers in the river or is it still too early? Thanks for the tip xrap
  19. Hey Guys Was wondering if the sucker have started their run up the holland river? I usually fish around the dam near Newmarket. Not really my favourite fish to catch but not much else to do and it is so close to my house thought might as well get out wed or thurs for some early spring sucker. So does anyone know if there will be any fish or is too early? Also was wondering when the channel cat run will start in dunnville?
  20. That is HUGE! I wonder why the perch and pike are so much larger in europe, i mean it maybe because of the fish they eat but we have big lakes here with huge baitfish as well. Does anyone know?
  21. First of all Thank you guys so much for all the feedback by far best fishing site on the internet and it great to be a part of this community, so much info i read every post and was a very hard choice to make but went with the quantum energy pti, I still am tempted to return it for the shimano but I have so many shimano reels and my dad just got the magnesium stradic so i decided to try something new. I also got the quantum energy pti baitcaster last year and loved it, my other two baitcaster's are shimano the castaic, and the curado both amazing reels no complaints. So decided to try out their spinning reel even though I am still a shimano kind of guy. BTW I have never really known about diawa reels and did some research and they have some high quality reels, thanks David Chong for the insider info! Only problem is the only place that carries them is BPS in the states and I will probably order one online this summer, unless someone can tell me where I can get one here in Canada. I will test out the quantum and let you guys know how it does. Thanks again everyone for all the help! Tight Lines Kirill aka Minnow
  22. Hey guys Went down to Bass Pro yesterday to take a look at the sale and decided to purchase a new spinning reel today. Will probably go tommorow to pick one up. Narrowed it down to the Shimano Stradic 2500 and the Quantum Energy 20 Can't decide which one to go with, both are exactly the same price and have very similar features. Guys please help me out if anyone you own either reel or have heard complaints or praise about one of them let me know! Which one should I go with? Thanks
  23. Those are some nice Goliath Groupers! Here is another chew on this episode and this fish is supposed to be 500 lbs this is INTENSE! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_it62G0QnA
  24. You can try splake like me in any stocked MNR splake lake, lots to choose from if your interested pm and I will give you some suggestions
  25. Hey guys, Haven't posted in a while but went up to a trib for some steelies a while back, didn't see much fish but did manage to go 2/4 with two little guys, one hooked on a small spoon and the other one hooked on a roe bag. The fish don't fight as hard as they did in the fall but still nice to hook some chrome Here are the Pics Now for the Splake Fishing Question! Never been splake fishing and am planning on heading out tommorow or sunday with my dad for the first ice trip of the season to stocked splake lake and had a few questions that I hope some of you guys can help me out with What depth should I fish? Do splake suspend or hold more to the bottom? What kind of bait should I use and if I use minnows where can I buy them with this minnow ban in effect? (Will be fishing north of Jack Lake, Apsley Ontario) Any tips or help is reallly appreciated and hopefully will be able to get into a few splake! CANT WAIT TO GET ON THE ICE!
