Nice, Iron Maiden is one of those popular artists which I find to be popular because they're good, unlike those other hacks (Metallica... bleh),

I'm not mad, I'm happy Thanks everyone for your input, I'll look out for HJ, x-raps, and I'll look at the different spinnerbaits syn suggested. I already have a fair number of cranks and jerkbaits.

Hehe, you guys are acting like I have ZERO fishing experience. I have a high quality pair of plyers and a large amount of steel leaders, but I just grew up around live bait and have made the switch to lures last year. Does anyone know a good brand of spinner baits? Those usually seem successful in past reports that I have read.

Looking for some good pike lures effective on the T.O Islands. Something to be found at Le Baron or Canadian Tire.

March Break next week, if the temperature can stay all week as it is today I'll definitely be on the Islands daily for pike.

Old but still cool. -
Thanks buddy, I'm not that creative and Mikester is always taken, and y is occasionally pronounced as i, like in fly.

Meh, I don't have any respect for anyone who has "quit" because it was their fault for starting it in the first place.

Those pictures from the other thread looked photoshopped. Hurry up OP, it doesn't take that long to photoshop 200 fish into a picture!

Awesome pics guys. Quick question, when fishing creeks like these with a spinning reel, what type of tackle would you recommend? I've got my UL rod and 4 pound line, but i need something at the end of it! Catching chubs on the Humber is the most I've ever creek fished. -
I use this. Just at 3 hours to any time you see.
-
Yeah, if you live BC.

STOP CRASHING WHEN YOU HAVE A CHANCE FOR BRONZE! First bobsled, now skiing. gah.

Gah, it sucked hard when Canada 1 crashed. And I'm still angry at the Russia who decided to celebrate what could have been a fatal accident.

Better luck next time Robertson.

Unfortunately I've never been for carp since I've primarily fished north of Toronto, but my friend has been carping a few times and we are going to head out to the Islands after exams (May 20th) almost daily for carp.

It was so disheartening to see all those wipeouts in the finals. Even though Hannah stole the gold from us, she was extremely awesome. Also Ammann stole the gold from Malysz in the ski jump, then I was pissed.

They don't. The article that was linked here (the Gord Ellis one) states that "the conscious experience of pain or suffering is due to activity in the cortex of the brain. That activity is located in a specialized kind of cortex called the neo-cortex, which is very large in humans. Fish don't possess a neo-cortex. They literally don't have the brain system to feel pain or other emotions like fear."

Nope, I mean I would LOVE to debate about a topic like this but I really couldn't see how this would fit into our curriculum, the Toronto education system cares more about human physiology and biotechnology rather than ichthyology. And yeah, I didn't really post this for the teacher to get bashed, I mean she's a great teacher and like someone else mentioned, getting some "ammo" was one of the reasons I posted the topic, but I guess as well to expose people to the ignorance of this world.

Feeling the OP was lacking some info: *I mentioned that predatory fish would evolve to have fewer nerve endings in their mouths since many of the fish they prey on have prickly fins. First she asked if "I was a fish and I know for a fact it doesn't hurt" but quickly changed her opinion and agreed with me, although she mentioned that certain fish may not be as evolved. I was thinking panfish, but these are primarily eaten, and trout, however flyfishermen tend to use barbless hooks, and stocked trout are primarily stocked in ponds to be eaten. *Rambled about how C&R is cruel but then I mentioned how fishing was a sport and then she sort of went quiet. *Then mentioned how these wounds left imprinted by the hooks could lead to infection. While it is a fair point, I don't believe killing every single fish you catch just because a few may become infected is justified. One of the teachers in our department is a fly fishing fanatic and he probably drives her to the wall talking about all his fishing adventures, lol. By the way this was just an opinion she shared, I'm not mad or anything but I do find this sort of ignorance baffling, especially since we have a bunch of those Greenpeace nuts in the classroom.

She says you're torturing the fish and it's better to eat it than throw it back. Discuss.

White House to spend $78 Mill on stopping Asian Carp

Certainly better than nothing. -
I'm reading Darwin's "On the Origin of Species" and it seems that at times a characteristic in an ancestor may reappear in the offspring, even several generations after not being present. This could suggest that previously perch and walleye may have been bluish.
