  1. LOL….funnily enough he won't eat pickerel, probably a good thing with all the tape worm I find in their guts when cleaning them (don't tell the wife), but he is crazy about the scraps of crappie when I clean them, smart puppy! he has been studying my body language for years….he knows for sure when it's FISH ON! LOL…it's pretty awesome, I take none of it for granted. Had an interesting conversation with a really nice couple from Minnesota while in Canadian Tire the other day, they were saying how they often thought about retiring here but they would miss too much living in the countryside. I asked them to name what they would miss, by the end of the conversation they were asking about real estate here. He is a fishing dog for sure, he cracks me up. I'll be getting ready to set the hook and suddenly he just appears. Yup, we live on Wabigoon, a tough nut to crack fishing wise, but for about 3 to 4 weeks after ice out the fishing from the bottom of our yard is amazing, without fail, then it turns into the 'dead sea' and I have more difficulty finding them, but for those weeks its no boat required!

  3. they service both yamahas and Mercs. And I already do tow my stuff and buy my stuff 100's of Kms away because the dealers in this town are a bunch of asshats stuck in the glory days of when the mill was open, they don't move much beyond their inner circle….guess it keeps the bloodline pure though….lol.
  4. Fish hawk or Vision 1650s
  5. This is exactly my issue! I want a Yammy on it but the dealer is saying it will be $3000 more….what the hell!!! Might have to go with a G3…they look good too.
  6. Hi all, Looking around for a new boat, sat in a crest liner yesterday, pretty nice…..any good or bad people can share about the brand?
  7. Hi all, Got half an hour in before Jack's bedtime the other night, he and Roloff joined me for the last few casts…..if you cant stand the wife playing the Yamaha organ just out of view on the lawn, skip to the end of the video (3:42)…HILARIOUS!
  8. Jacks laugh is infectious, like any child giggling, can't help but smile eh? Thanks Bri….he loves our "adventuring" as he calls it. Thanks Art. Great memories! Thanks JT. They certainly are fun!
  9. Hi all, Got the day before opener with my son Jack after school for a couple of hours. I introduced him to bass fishing, he loved it……….
  10. LIVING THE DREAM!
  11. I love the part where he imitates the grouse…so cute. Jack has known nothing else but the outdoors from day one so we had a head start on that unfortunate guy, he still loves his iPad and dvdd, but tell him we are going to lac Seul and everything else is on hold!!!…..lol. They do, I keep threatening him that I am going to stop feeding him…he just giggles and says…."Dad…your fibbing!" LOL…sooner than he might think too, the cortisone injection I got in my knee only gave relief for a week, I'm hobbling around again and its getting worse! Wow, no wonder you are proud, sounds like a great 'kid' you have there. Thanks, we have a wealth of video memories to look back on.
  12. Thanks! Cheers mate! yah, for sure. I am gonna be busy with some walleye fishing for the first part June then I'll be hunting them down again, I want to learn their habits on my home lake. Thank you
  13. went to check the trap, only a couple of dozen but always fun with Jack along for the walk.
  14. Hi all, The ice departed here in a hurry, 4 days and it was open water. We headed out on Sunday to try for crappie in t and around the same spots we fished just a week and a half earlier on the ice. The little buggers don't hang around long, the spots we were slaying them in days ago were bereft of our quarry, so the search started. We found them right where conventional wisdom said they would be, staging close to their spawning areas, once we identified possible areas they would spawn it was just a question of depth. They were in 18 to 20 Fow. Strangely enough this was the same depth they were in this area on the ice, but they had definitely moved in closer to the south facing, shallow mud/weed bays, time will tell if our hypothesis is proven correct when we try the latter close to the end of May. We threw everything at them, slip bobbers, hook with split shot, jigs, dropper rigs, all worked, but the two hook setup with jig and minnow below and wide gape with bronze twister tail took the award for outstanding bait. Enjoy the video
  15. Good to hear Bruce……good to hear
  16. Hi all, Heard a lot about aftermarket ATV snorkel kits, decided to see what all the fuss was about…...
  17. But steamed gobies are delicious!
  18. Hi all, The crappie fishing here this winter has been STELLAR. The jury is still out on how it will effect the fishery overall, but for the moment I will take advantage of great action right off the lawn, after all they aint going anywhere anytime soon. We have also had a walleye slot limit applied to wabigoon, nothing between 18" - 23" and only one over (lol...fat chance). Anyway....here is a video from the other day, still 18" of ice here, but the weather forecast means it wont be long before its not safe out there, give it about a week at this rate. Crappie are anywhere between 20 and 35 feet deep, I prefer the shallower depths as you can throw back the small ones, cant do that in 30'FOW.
  19. 18" of ice....day off......crappie all over Wabigoon now......GONE FISHIN'!

  20. Nice haul….must have been a blast!
  21. LOL…yeah…no more ice swimming ok? Thanks Mike, would love to collaborate with you one day and steal some of your awesome pics! LOL…its nice when they bite for sure! Yeah, Wabigoon Lake is the same colour as a double/double Timmies, its the clay, so its very murky down there and the fish look like creatures that inhabit caves….albino….all the fish are the same…..they look very sickly but taste just fine!
  22. Thanks man! I have some already, I have micro tubes, crappie bites, this bug…that bug…big jigs, little jigs, three bags full jigs (lol)…..I even tried some fly fishing flies today that looked like the mayfly larvae they were hacking up….no good. Also i don't mind hauling minnows around…I have a pretty good live bait storage system at home and its no sweat bringing them along, whats more its more than just crappie down there so I like to have all angles covered.
  23. Not just me….google BFSC fishing….very good videos….very good!
