  1. I'm with ^^^^^^^ Way easier with the remote, remember, with the gps autopilot ( if your unit was not auto pilot before) you hardly have to make any adjustments as the motor holds you on a heading, unlike motors without that which if left alone will steer you in a circle, I set my heading and every now and again press left or right, I use the spot lock more often than I do steering, hell you can even set the speed you want with cruise control and it compensates for wind and current on the go....and I can move around the boat at will without worrying about where i'm going, just concentrate on my FISHING...foot pedal?????.......MEH!
  2. We are going to be a couple weeks earlier than normal for most lakes in my area (Dryden), drove past many small highway lakes today, all shore to shore open and the big lakes won't be far behind now. Wabigoon Lake which my house is on is gonna be by the end of the week, probably sooner if we get some wind. Lake Wabigoon this evening.
  3. Gonna go set the minnow traps with the boy this afternoon.

MONSTER FISH! Actually the wind scuppered my plans, blew an easterly and piled all the remaining ice from the goon into our bay!

  4. I get lots of requests from youtube to guide, but so far have chickened out, guiding puts a whole new spin on the fishing experience, It kind of reminds me of a quote attributed Mark Twain, " Golf, a good walk ruined", if you think of golf as guiding and a good walk as a good days fishing....lol.
  5. Its the Bear Narrows bridge on Eagle Lake, its the local 'go to' spot, I rarely fish there because of that , but the open water after a long winter was to much to resist. My drag is set for big pike and big walleye, those were mostly babies. It was a really gorgeous evening, got me all revved for summer, then it dumped half a foot of snow yesterday and its minus -5C this morning...lol..oh yeah, i'm in NWO! Roloff has really chilled in his middle age, its kinda nice cuz he was completely mental two years ago, could not really take him to spots where other people fished, and in the boat it was a complete nightmare. I don't know whether I told you this story but i discovered a trick a couple years back to keep him out of peoples way when shore fishing popular spots, I'd throw a waterlogged stick into the lake away from where people were fishing, of course the stick would sink but poor old Roloff would search for that stick, he once swam for 20 minutes before I had to beg him to come back to shore....lol. Thanks Bruce, appreciated for sure! Hey, they were all 14" and above....lol...sheesh...13"
  6. Hi all, Another boring fishing video, don't even bother watching it, the video thumbnail sums it all up. Now...back to the political thread.
  7. LOL...FFS...just can't win. Yup you and Kev need to get back up here again. I want to take you to my end of Lac Seul. LOL..thanks Rick...as always.
  8. No Seriously, it was really fun and better than staying home and arguing in online fishing forums about weed and booze!
  9. Hi all, Got to fish the last day of walleye season in the boat, had done awesome in the same spot from shore (thats another video coming soon) but had to get out in the boat just because that does not happen that often up here and usually we are still on the ice. My buddies came out with me and we had a hoot, nothing too big but enough for a supper in the near future.
  10. Hi all, Another video i'm afraid...lol. Well the ice is too sketchy for my comfort level now and so its time to get inventive for fishing opportunities while we wait for the ice to go. Still another 4 days till walleye season closes so I headed to a small dam in the hopes the current had cleared some ice. There was plenty of room to cast as it turned out. As I was arriving a group of 5 people were leaving, they had a bucket with them and I thought it was full of fish, turns out it was empty and they had caught NOTHING! Undeterred I set up a slip bobber and cast up current, first pass and the bobber went under and I pulled in a nice walleye that proceeded to cough up half a dozen fresh minnows, lol, looks like it had fun with the group that just left. No other bites despite walking 1km up and down the shore eventually returning to where I caught the first one. It was bloody cold and only the fact that I had to drive an hour to get there kept me there till it started to get dark, glad I did as the bite was insane! Got four keepers and some smaller ones went back, and it was really cool to see thousands of glowing eyes moving around the shallows in the dark with the aid of my headlamp, can't wait to show my boy Jack. Did not manage to get any footage of that as the footage was too dark too see but here is the video of some of the fish I caught.
  11. My kids gone bowling, I'm washing the quad in the sun...perfect!
  12. Lol, Rick you just described my tortuous video production process! Very little snow this year and it went from -30 to plus temps overnight a few weeks back. Kevin was making noises about community my up in the winter to ice fish...you guys should make a plan. Forecast is plus 19C today.
  13. Hi all, Had a day off, plan was crappie in the morning, head back to the house for lunch, pick up the dog and head out again for walleye in the evening, worked great, love it when a plan comes together! The ice is worse than I thought, drilled a couple holes in the morning and although there is 18"+ it is honeycomb already for the most part, auger went through it like a hot knife through butter, guess its down to the thaw we had earlier in the year and then almost zero snow since without a mother thaw afterwards. the crappie decided to show up on my spot on Wabigoon really late, oh well, will be hunting them in the boat pretty soon. The walleye I caught in the evening were at another lake just up the road. I usually quad all the way there from my house across the lakes and skidoo trails but wanted to take Roloff with me so we trailered up there. Landing was toast and had to travel half a click to find ice strong enough to walk out on, drilled a couple holes, same deal as Wabigoon, 18" of honeycomb sketchiness, lol...so I jumped on the quad and pinned it to my spot. Got 4 walleye, one female 3 males, not anywhere near their spawning ground yet, which was a good thing for me as there was no way I was going near the creek! Here's the video as usual.
  14. You lucky devil, only two hours. My closest cabelas is 4 hours+ away in Winnipeg , if I am buying a big ticket cost item I have to put in the leg work, but like to get what I actually want than settle for what's just available.
  15. I got some Guidewear last year.....LOVE IT!
  16. Thanks man! LOL...really....hate is such a strong word, maybe I just annoy you a little.....lol. Ah man, don't think its gonna happen this year, ice is pretty sketchy now, last time I went to my whitefish lake there was a pressure crack running shore to shore, had to cross it, there was open water there a week ago, no way Im venturing out there now.
  17. Hi all, Still a good 18" of ice here, but I think it's going to go fast now. Got out with my best friend and fishing buddy Roloff the other evening for a couple of hours, nice to have the pup along now its warming up. Got some walleye and a few pike to bite, great way to spend an evening.
  18. Hi all, Had another really crappie morning on Saturday.
  19. LOL...ive been hanging out with some good anglers! Yeah, I felt a little sick losing that trout...bummer! LOL...short time? Ahhhh the magic of editing...hehe.
  20. No seriously, it was really fun.....lol.

  22. Hi all, Got out late afternoon on a lake that holds lakers and walleye. Lots and lots of small lakers and lots of chunky walleye. First time I have ever fished walleye in 5 feet of water on the ice.
  23. Hi all, love this time of year, can actually convince my wife to come ice fishing...lol. Stays light enough that once supper is done there is still time for a couple hours out and about.
