hey pirate, thanks for the tips. My wife's folks are in London ON and have a trailer at Erieau. We plan to be there with the boat this August, i only have a 17' aluminum tin pot boat so i know i will have to be careful on a large water body like that but i want to give it a go as ive never caught steelheads...will it be possible to try with the boat i have.? given i might need to run back in pretty quick and dont want to go far out.

I like that one... Looks like an awesome piece of kit you got there.....i'm not jealous.

Hey Mike, I've never bought anything from them but i have definitely heard of them. In fact they are the sponsors of an ice fishing forum i use , and the guys on there use it. In fact they also give out gift vouchers from that company as tourney prizes and i have never seen any complaints about them on the forum.

Littleangler, good to see that 'football' is so popular here. It was a good game, the penalty shootouts are always tense. Being from England i would not have missed it for the world. I'm a bit upset that England were not good enough for the European Championships this summer...oh well only another 2 years till the World cup!!!

Thanks Spiel and Outdoorsman, flyfishing for whities sounds fun, bet that will put a bend in a flyrod. i will try all your suggestions, i'm pleased that tactics similar to icefishing adapted to openwater work , at least i'll have some clue what to do...lol...thanks again guys.

Hi Y'all, Just wondering if someone would be kind enough to take the time and explain to me what 'drop shotting is, i keep hearing it mentioned but have no idea what it is/means. Thanks Simon -

Fun evening fishing the pier in dover.
limeyangler replied to nautifish's topic in General Discussion
Thats a really great report Nauti, dont wanna get too melodramatic but it did almost make me mist over when you mentioned seeing all the folks from the pier. I used to fish 2 local piers by the sea back home and the friendships and banter with the same old faces was priceless....oh yeah....show the vids...can only speak for myself but it would not be boring. -
first time i've seen that type of fish....nice catch,

hat would be perfect for my canoe!

What mono line has the least memory?
limeyangler replied to bigcreekdad's topic in General Discussion
Ive always used Trilene XL for my mono, great casting and low memory, also apparently the same stuff they package as their ice fishing mono. -
Hi All, Just wondering what rigs, baits and methods people use when targeting whitefish? I have only ever fished for them during the winter on the ice using the usual jigs + spoons tipped with minnows or mini tubes. Just wondering how to fish for them in the spring/summer/fall as there is no closed season for them here and they are awesome fun to catch...and totally yummy grilled in a lemon parsley and cracked black pepper butter. Also wondering whereabouts the move in the warmer waters, i.e are they deep, suspended, surface or everywhere in the water column, is there a general rule to follow for open water seasons? Thanks in advance. Simon

I was using 8lb micro ice braid with uni knot attached 8lb flouro leader. Used at least 10 feet of leader as thew whities on this particular lake spook easy. ust say the braid was great for bite detection and hook setting.

Happy birthday, great pics and report. the colours on those trout are amazing. I tried to catch them once in a stocked lake , still to catch one....did not stay long though cuz the ice was melting and really freaking me out when it was cracking and moving....lol.

That is great, looks like it was bought that way, really tidy job, I should show my buddy Matt this, he has mushrooms growing on his wooden false floor. every year he says he will fix it (known him 2 yrs), he would have an excuse if he liked mushrooms, but he doesn't!
