Hey Rob....thats fantastic! I have not had my sled/shelter out yet...lol...but the hamster wheel has been turning since the drive home from the shop....and before that even. I experienced the wholeminnow thing last year a couple of times with the basic fibreglass trappers sled i used....not very good start to the day to find 3 or 4 dozen prime sucker and dace minnows frozen solid to the bottom of your sled! But as the guy stated putting the bag in the bucket always helps....but i usually have a supply at home not bagged. I cant see where the guy keeps his auger now with all the get up. But i was already thinking about installing an auger mount on my snowmobile....then i can really run 'n' gun. I already thought about installing some metal hooks on the sides near the bottom of the sled for attaching tie downs/bungee cords to snug everything down inside. Thanks for the link....it all helps! Lol Joey...i wish it was porn....but i think it was Braveheart on that afternoon....does look like "lesbians in space" DVD though....lol. Hey Drifter...that is indeed a very fine snowmobile you have there....one day i will have a fine machine also...but my new second hand will have to do for now.

LOL...uh...its 25" high...so on its side its 25" wide....last time i looked my door was at least 30" wide...should be no probs. Its just so fricken big i'm more worried whether my snowmachine will pull the beast....darn it...knew i should've bought that Bearcat!!!!

Hi Y'all, Did not get out fishing today, we're at minus 28*C daytime here....with upto 50-60 kmh wind gusts, so i spent the day setting up my newest toy...a three man Otter Team Wild flip up shelter. GOT THE RUNNER KIT TO SAVE WEAR AND TEAR THE SQUARE POLES MAKE IT REALLY STURDY AND STRONG I LIKE THE BENCH SEAT....LESS RESTRICTIVE THAN THE CLAM OR FRABILL BUCKET SEATS EVEN IF THE LATTER ARE MORE COMFORTABLE....BUT THE BENCH IS NOT UNCOMORTABLE THE TENT FABRIC IS NOT AS THICK AS THE CLAM ICE ARMOR, OR THE FRABILL, BUT ITS 8" LONGER AT THE FRONT THAN ITS EQUIVALENT IN THE OTHER BRANDS LOADS OF ROOM IN HERE!!!! FOLDS NEATLY AWAY AND TAKES 30 SECONDS TO FLIP UP! CAME WITH A GOOD COVER THAT FITS REALLY TIGHT, AND I"LL BE ABLE TO PACK EVERYTHING I NEED INCLUDING THE KITCHEN SINK! WHAT REALLY CLINCHED IT FOR ME WAS THE SLED CONSTRUCTION, THICKER MOULDED PLASTIC, 20" DEEP, NICE FAT STEEP WEDGE FRONT, PIVOTING TOWBAR WITH SHOCK SPRING AT THE HITCH END Well i cant really give it a review cuz i aint got it out yet. It was a bit of a trade off when it came to tent quality, but becuse this will be my only towing sled for the snowmachine....i really thought it was better to go with the one that had the best sled design, and this one outdid the Frabills and Clams by a million miles. I have read the posts about other flip ups and realise that the bench is not to everyones taste, but after spending 2 days in Winnipeg sitting in over 10 different shelters in 4 different stores.....i did not have a problem with them....in fact i prefer the bench seating, it is not as comfy as the bucket seats....but its not uncomfortable and gives more seating manoeverability. Cant wait to get out in it...maybe next weekend on Shoal Lake for whities.

Yup its just hitting us now....its minus 28C outside, wind is gusting upto 60kmh.....i think we got lucky though...cuz the snow that was forcast to be around 10-15cm in 12 hours is now only forcast for 2 cms.....PHEW!

Great stuff Ben, really, and i mean REALLY nice walters you guys got. That hummingbird looks a decent bit of kit too. I'm just taking a break from putting the runners on my sled too as we speak. Great stuff.

Hi Y'all came out this morning toload the snowmobile onto the trailer....and as soon as i walked out my nose hair froze solid....weird feeling...lol. Looked at the thermometer and yup....-minus 32 clcius....lol...i thought straight away...."good for ice, not so good for GCD's preferred style of fishing" A BIT NIPPY THIS MORNING

Hey danbo, The Eagle Cuda is very similar to the Lowrance X67c....except its not colour and a few other things like the battery set up....but it accepts most of the accessories for the Lowrance X67c...including the stuff that turns it into an ice fishing" unit. That is to say that ou can use a Lowrance "iceducer" Code PTI-WSU part#106-68 which is basically a self levelling transducer ( i bought one of these and use it now, but i did go the hockey stick method before hand and it worked great too, the hockey stick is just a bit cumbersome)

good job gone fishin...i tried to make one last year out of the numerous rods i seem to break every summer....it did not turn out to well.....but i found a good use for all the broken rods this fall...they came in real handy taped together to feed the wires through my trailer frame when re-wiring new lights!!!

That would be awesome...got nine acres here...6 acres of land suitable to pitch tents....would give me an excuse to build the dock i keep saying i'll build....lol

Took a day off fishing and went and bought this......... the guy phoned me back this morning, and when he heard my voice(accent) said...."i know you"....turned out to be Keith...the guy i helped in the pre- fish for the Red Lake Fall Classic .....meant to be?...hope so.... Anyway....its 1996 Polaris XLT Touring 600....around 4000 on the clock....not a bad deal at $1900...i thought so anyway . Goin to winnipeg to pick up a frabill/eskimo/clam 3 man sled/shelter next week....should be set to go for ice fishing with a vengeance this year!!! BEST THING WAS DRIVING IT HOME FROM KEITHS ACROSS WABIGOON LAKE RIGHT UP MY LAWN!!!

Hi Ya'll, Went back to Ingal...again, if nothing else i'm persistent...lol. I only had a couple of hours again, but had already scoped out a spot that seemed to have walleye from what i was seeing on the sonar. The spot i had found was half way across a 150yard narrows, where the weed/mud gave way to a more rocky bottom from what i could tell on the sonar. I did however decide to drill holes at intervals from that half way point the remaining 75 yards to the opposite shore as the rocks on the opposite shore hit the water line vertically which usually means steep if not vertical drop-off, just wanted to explore this tiny section of a new lake....see whats around and perhaps find a honey hole for when i drag Chuck and Dave out....wouldn't want them to start whining "ah...there's no fish here"....lol. Well, it went exactly as the last trip...PIKE...PIKE....PERCH...PERCH....PIKE.....PIKE....PIKE....SOME MORE PERCH...PIKE....etc...etc... some nice aggressive pike....so lots of fun. It was really cold yesterday.....minus 18 celcius with a wind gusting straight up the narrows at up to 33kmh....dont even wanna think what the wind chill was! Anyway...after about an hour of non stop pike / perch action i headed back to the middle to get the evening bite where i had spotted plenty of what looked like walleye the day before. I had also noticed that the walleye (if thats what they were, were shy of jigs and liking just the hook and split shot presentation, and had a rod set up that way already. I dropped one rod down with a jig, then set up my sonar on the hole with the split shot/hook/minnow rod. What followed was a comedy of errors.... As soon as i dropped the split shot line down the hole, a very walleye like line on the sonar graph started to investigate my bait....just as that was happening...my other rod tried to dissappear down the hole....ran over...took the little jackfish off and back to my other rod. The walleye was just sitting under the bait still....i gave it a slight twitch and it nailed it, unfortunately my reel was not working at all well, the handle kept coming lose, and the bale arm kept freezing in the semi open position...hard to set hooks and reel up.....anyway....this one did not get off....until its head poked through the ice....and IT WAS A WALLEYE...A BIG ONE TOO.....straight away i had my hand in the hole...but it was hard to grab the fish with my mitts on...so i quickly threw off the mit......and made another bare handed grab...getting my whole arm wet as the fish evaded my attempted grab dissappeared under the ice again. DARN IT!!!! am i jinxed on this lake or what! The minnow was still on so i quickly dropped it back down the hole, watching the descent on the screen...it had made it half way down the 9' water column when the whole screen lit up as a huge Jackfish grabbed the bait and snapped me off.....AAARRRRRRGH. I could not re-do my line as my hands were freezing already from the icy dunking,and after my frostbite episode last year i was not de-mitting (is that a word?..lol...is now) and with only 15 minutes left because of a dinner invitation that night...time was pressing and the walleye were too suspicious of the jig (i tried numerous jigs, different colours/size the day before) so i left waleyeless again...at least i know they are there....but it does feel like i'm jinxed as far as walleye go on this lake...lol. Heres the piccys from my 2 hours yesterday. Did not take too many as it got really cold and i put the camera away with lots of hand warmers stuffed round it!

Hi Y'all, Went about a mile further down the road from Burr Lake to Ingall Lake. I did not get there until 2pm, and spent a lot of time slowly edging out from shore drilling as i went. I was probably being over cautious as first 3 holes showed 8 inches of black ice...but by myself...cant be tooo careful. I was in a very narrow section of the lake, probably only 150 meters wide. was only around 10 feet deep all the way across, and first 50 yards was weedy and muddy on the bottom. Lots of small perch on the fishfinder and no sign of a walleye until i got 3/4 of the way across and found the transition from mud/weed to rocky bottom. by then it was getting dark, i saw 3 definite walleye lines on the graph (i can tell by the way the line on the graph approaches the bait....lol...spend too much time staring at that screen) had one on that got off...and the other 2 were messing me around! Hi Y'all, Went out the front of the house on Monday afternoon from 1pm to 2:30pm. I was not planning to go because i was on night shift...but the weather was so nice and the lake so close...why not, could still get a few hours sleep before work. GORGEOUS DAY AND NOT FAR TO GO....WHY NOT! ICE IS GETTING THICKER TOO......WAS THREE INCHES IN THE SAME SPOT A FEW DAYS AGO....NOW 6".....NICE BLACK ICE TOO GOT ONE NICE PIKE JUST BEFORE I PACKED IT IN.....NICE MINI SESSION. I worked back to back night shifts...so was gonna be pretty tired today....but i seem to be able to tough it out....lololol...its not hard.....ITS FISHING! So i hooked up with my fishing buddies Dave and Chuck and we headed off to try a lake just further down from Burr Lake where i have been going a lot recently. However by the time they pulled up at my place it was gone midday, by the time we hit the logging road it was 1:30pm....so we decided to go to Burr Lake again as none of us has fished the other lake and did not have time really to explore it. CHUCK GOT THE FIRST FISH OF THE DAY>>>A REALLY FAT PERCH AND THE FIRST WALTER THE BITE WAS PRETTY CONSTANT FOR THE 3 HOURS OR SO WE WERE THERE AND WE GOT OUR 3 MAN LIMIT BY 4PM....THEN THE BITE ALL BUT DIED AND AS USUAL SOMEONE FORGOT TO BRING PLASTIC BAGS. ....LOL A nice few hours ice fishing from this week....heres to many more hours this winter. PS....Jeeeeze was it ever cold today
