  1. hi all, seems weird to be casting from shore and jigging in the boat for close of walleye season...but i'll take it! End of walleye was on wednesday and got out in the boat, but also got a quick shore session in front of the house after baby went to sleep. The evening of the 13th was picture perfect.....no wind stunning sunsets and wildlife coming out of hibernation....felt like a july evening on the shore, even got bit by a couple of bugs. WAS SO NICE ON OUR SHORE TUESDAY EVENING Fishing with a knuckle ball jig (chart/orange) and just lazily casting it out 20yrds or so usually brings in supper, and after a slow start i landed a few small walleye, just the perfect way to wind down after chasing baby Jack around the whole day.....lol GOT A FEW SMALL WALLEYE ALL C&R <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object> Wednesday we headed back to Eagle lake to fish the closing day (walleye). The weather was miserable compared to the evening before with high winds and rain, but it was so cool to be fishing in the boat it did not deter us or dampen our spirits....never does anyway. We decided to go exploring and spent the first few hours way down the south west arm of the lake, trying different stuff with little to no fish in the boat. Most exitement was a nice walleye Al got, which looked like it got into a fight with a muskie, and an eagle that snatched a small jackfish that was not feeling to good after the unhooking process right off the surface. THIS EAGLE FOLLOWED US ALONG SHORE FOR OVER A MILE...LOOKING FOR SCRAPS AND GOT SOME! Fishing was 'tough' till sunset, then the switch was flicked over to 'bite' and we got our limit in no time at all. Once again a CO turned up, this time shouting questions at us from shore....good bit in the vid where i'm holding a slot fish whilst clarifying what vehicle was mine at the landing to the CO. Also met my fishing buddy Lew out ther...he was fishing from shore with his dad, anyway, we spent an hour with some non stop action, upgrading our fishes as we went and had a nice stringer by the end of the day when we were treated to another gorgeous sunset. ANOTHER NICE SUNSET ON EAGLE LAKE VIDEO OF THE DAY'S SHANNANIGANS <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

  10. Thank you so much folks, very kind words making a very proud dad even prouder.....must work on his bad habit of trying to eat the minnows....lol....now that would be a test for Gulp!....wonder if he would eat that.....just kidding Thaknks Syn....already backed up Thanks Joey Yup....first fish he catches is getting the tourney sign on it for sure! By the way.....i got a 27" walleye for an upgrade and am sending along the bonus inches for the Crappie too...check your inbox
  11. I bought a new 55# Terrova with the auto pilot and co-pilot (key fob remote control) I absolutely love it, it deploys effortlessly unlike the Minnkota Powerdrive which is a royal pain in the ass to deploy. The only thing i would say i dont like about it is that that speed increments on the remote control are too crude otherwise it is an awesome unit, more than enough power for my 16' Alumarine. It also has a transducer built into the prop head, it works flawlessly....now i just gotta save for a Lowrance HD unit for the back and connect my X67c to the Terrova at the front. I'd recommend the Terrova.......Cabelas Canada (winnipeg) had the best price on them last year, even when the Loonie was at par and above.
  12. Awesome report Marko! That Mirror is a really clean specimen!
  13. Great stuff Ec1, i had reall difficulty trying to find tcrappie on the ice in a lake i know this winter, hopefully i can find them like you guys did when i get in there after walleye season closes here. Good move finding the will to haul your gear and try again. ENJOY SUPPER!
  14. Was at home with my son all day today while Mrs. Limeyangler was at work. jack my son was in a restless /whiney mood and by 3pm i was beginning to get a little restless myself. I decided to try him out fishing for the first time as the weather was windy but a decent 14C. Headed down to a small local lake instead of out the front of the house for a change of scenery for both of us. Jack had a blast. I think he really loves being outside, and had an a great time as custodian of the minnows. he had his whole arm in the minnow bucket and was totally absorbed by the little creatures for the whole half hour we stayed. Got some priceless video and picture memories of our first fishing trip together.....just thought i'd share it with y'all. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
  15. Id say $6000
  16. Throw 3 doz sucker minnows in and you got a deal! LOL KF, yeah....i kinda hope it is a blip....nice as it is.....but with the lack of snow on top of the warmer weather i'm sure if this turned into a trend it would have some impact on the eco systems of the lakes....not sure what they'd be...but cant be good.
  17. Awesome fish Bushy...good stuff.
  18. Right where i am. NW Ontario by the lake with 1000s of other lakes nearby. If i win the Lottery it would be somewhere tropical, Belize, Grenada, Antigua or south Pacific like Fiji.
  19. Yup...i made the mistake last year of turning onto Silver water wheel turn off to get to williams...that road is awkward to say the least....lol i actually saw an ad for guides up there...was tempted to throw my hat into the pile and apply...but i have no experience at guiding and it would be difficult to be away from home with the baby here now.
  20. sounds like you are up near Williams Bay, i will be up there lots this year.
  21. Thanks solo....had to get out soon.....your reports were killing me! Yes WJ...the CO was a breath of fresh air.....as soon as it warms up a bit and the wife and I have a day off on the same day....they'll both be coming with me! Its crazy eh JB....(did i just say eh?) its awesome that the ice has cleared..there has been no interuption to the fishing this year with the late ice up in December and the early ice out. Where ya goin Mike? If your in the neighbourhood gissa shout. LOL....i get no satisfaction from making anybody jealous...HONEST. Archie, that is the best written version of an accent I have ever witnessed...lol...as for my walleye skillz....believe me it dont take much up here..jig minnow and a rod is about all the skillz required.....I get skooled by Al on a regular basis. Your right Trevy, ive only been here 3 1/2 years...and usually it is out the 2nd week of May Thanks Jacques....man is it that time of year already? Love your specky/brooky reports...go get 'em mon ami Thanks T....it was a great start for sure...
  22. Hi all, still in shock really, usually this time of year i'm enjoying being able to scoot across my bay on the snowmobile to get some icefishing in after work for an hour since its still light. Well not this year, in fact the ice will be gone from in front of the house in the next 2 days given the weather forcast of sun and strong winds. The South West end of Eagle Lake has been open for the last 2 weeks but work and family commitments have been keeping me firmly on shore at home until yesterday. Boat was fine...just bought a new deep cycle...minnows and tackle ready...my buddy Al was early.....OFF WE WENT! MY BOY JACK SAW US OFF.....HE WAS VERY UPSET WE TOOK HIM OUT OF THE BOAT.....A GOOD SIGN! Once we hit the water we decided to head to a spot we had done good at in the winter(on the ice). We knew the walleye were running through the narrows as we had fished from shore the week before, but we wanted to scout around and enjoy being in the boat this early. Al got into the first walleye after i just missed one after only the first drift. We were between 2 islands drifting in 15FOW, lots of bait fish on the screen. Al was using a floating jig set-up, i was using an 1/8Oz Odball jig, both of us using pink and white which had been the ticket from shore a few days earlier tipped with medium to largish minnows. The next fish followed minutes after that. i thought by the way it was fighting it was a Pike, as the last 3 fish before that were all small pike and it seemed we'd found a little pocket of pike. But to my delight it was a 27" walleye! i was pretty pleased with that as it was a good first walleye of the open water season. STILL IN SHOCK...ALL THATS LEFT OF THE ICE IN OSBOURNE BAY MY FIRST WALLEYE IN THE BOAT THIS YEAR. We landed a lot of fish between 18 and 22" which on eagle lake are in the no keep slot size, and the smaller fish we caught were pretty small, a lot too small to keep really, but we got a limit each of smaller than usual fish and had an incident free first boat trip AT THE BEGINNING OF APRIL!!!! I say incident free....but the game warden stopped us to check our fish at the landing, but what a great guy he was...i think he's a new guy as i've not met him before....but he was very proffesional but friendly, he wanted to check the 17"er Al had but said he wanted to use our tape measure.....a really good CO Anyway....the video i did for the day wont load on youtube or photobucket for some reason, i'll try to get it loaded when i get back from work this evening. Just so great to be in the boat this early....walleye is closed in 4 days, but with the lakes opening up this early....BRING ON THE LAKERS!!!! VIDEO TO FOLLOW.....WE CAUGHT QUITE A FEW THIS SIZE Well i finally got the video uploaded, seems it was a mixture of service outage and hibernation mode on the pc power saving......lol...also download speed is way slower at peak times. HOWEVER.........got back from work today and our bay that was completely covered in ice when i went to work in the morning was clear enough to cast from our shore.....SOOOOOOOO....what better way to wait for a darned video to upload than to cast a line whilst waiting and make another video...lol IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE WAITING FOR VID TO UPLOAD...... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> AND THE ORIGINAL VIDEO FROM FRIDAY....SORRY A COUPLE OF UNEDITABLE CUSSES. <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
  23. Great read Southpaw, given your location, you are a lost cause if you thik your'e addicted now....lol, Lac Seul is a fish factory !
  24. Hi all, the ice has been on the retreat here since the beginning of March. Went out last Tuesday in front of the lake and to my wife's releif i said that was the last time i was venturing out this year. Normally at this time of year i'm still heading out on the snowmachine to my favourite icefishing spots with at least 3 or 4 weeks of ice fishing to look forward to, but the snowmachine has not seen any action since Feb 28th.....and i put it away 3 weeks ago. Realising it was gonna probably be a case of finding a few open water sections big enough to cast into i went searching the obvious places to see how ice out was progressing....got to Bear Narrows on Eagle lake last Friday expecting a bit of open water around the bridge and a few shore spots where the rocks warm up.....I WAS NOT EXPECTING TO SEE 2 BOATS FISHING! AWESOME! With my boat still under a tarp with our car and truck's summer tires stored in it it was gonna have to be a shore fishing trip on Sunday. Al, Carmon and myself headed out at 3pm. Al and myself had decided to use floating jigs the day before and that was the ticket, slow retrieve and WHAM! We got our limit with a few nice fish thrown in, the 18-23" slot size on Eagle Lake did not hinder a really good harvest of eating size walleye....and we got a few 22" and the best 23" snatched onto my line and fought like a PIKE! Gonna try heading out in the boat later on this afternoon....will do a report if i get out.
  25. Great stuff Ben.......this weather is nuts eh? (did you just say eh?)......i'm taking the boat to Eagle Lake tomorrow....YUP...THE FREAKIN BOAT!
