  4. Hey Rick.....ice is taking a real beating this afternoon with the gale force westerlies. The whole bay is clear as of 20 minutes ago and the ice is gone as far as the main body of the lake....definitely done by next weekend. IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE THIS EVENING AT 5:45pm By the way....nice to meet you the other day at Crappy Tire
  5. Hi all, At 7am the lake was shore to shore ice. Looked out again at around 4 pm....WOW....THE WHOLE BAY WAS OPENING UP! I expected another week at least before the ice started to shift with a purpose...oh well....not complaining. Now i'm really behind on my to do list! GOT SOME PICS OF THE ICE COMING OFF OUR BAY TODAY <a href="http://s907.photobucket.com/albums/ac273/limeyangler/?action=view&current=IMG_2468.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i907.photobucket.com/albums/ac273/limeyangler/IMG_2468.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> <a href="http://s907.photobucket.com/albums/ac273/limeyangler/?action=view&current=IMG_2487.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i907.photobucket.com/albums/ac273/limeyangler/IMG_2487.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
  6. Thats cool Geoff...lol...my wife is also a trained eye when it comes to spotting fishing opportunities. She curses when she realises she has just told me stuff about fishing that she did not even realise she knew!
  7. Amazing.....how you gonna sleep......lol...i'd be sleeping in it the first few weeks
  8. Royal wedding?....Pfffffft! <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/n1IReGYKsyM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  9. LOL....Wayne, I literally just came in from taking the tarp off the boat and moving it inside the garage to do some "stuff" on it, and take out two sets of summer tires and rims, the deck for the lawn tractor, fold up chairs....lol....excellent storage vessel in the winter...and the tires make keep the tarp raised in the middle for water/snow/ice run off. Not a sign of critters anywhere....guess thats an advantage of using the boat right up till its minus 20C...all the critters were long gone by the time the tarp went on. Like you though...we have had an invasion of mice/vowels. My three cats are bringing back around 4 or 5 a day...steady stream.
  10. Nice going Bob....gawd i hate this time of year....i have to wait a whole 3 weeks before i can even begin dreaming of a canadian tailgate party....lol.

  12. Hi all, I've been done fishing now since the 14th April. Could have got out since then... and some of the trout lakes still have questionable to good ice for walking...but i'm done. I promised myself this year to call it quits early to get yard/house/boat sorted before the ice was off....lol...i did good so far resisting the temptation to fish...believe me i'm pretty impressed with myself having not been for over a week....lol....but i'm behind on my to do list...in fact i have not even scratched the surface. Anyway....i did get out on the 13th for walleye with a buddy and then again the next day for rainbows(stocked). I got my first ever bow through the ice...a small one...but a PB...lol. NICE TO GET OUR 2 MAN LIMIT ON THE LAST OUTING OF THE SEASON WENT FOR RAINBOWS ON THE LAST DAY OF WALLEYE SEASON...GO FIGURE....LOL Now all thats left for me to do before the ice is out is get the siding cleaned and repaired, fix the deck on the lawn tractor, re do the en suite washroom(plumbing too), design and build planters for the flower bed replacement, fix leaks in the boat, summerize sled and equipment, bearings and rollers on trailer, fix tonneau cover for truck....ok....i'm breaking out in a cold sweat...i'll stop there. But the pressure is on, my boy is talking more and more about the "byeboat" and "go fishing mum, dad and you allgevver" (he has not got the concept of 'me' yet....lol). Yesterday he wanted to put his PFD on....i obliged....someone is ready for open water...even if i'm not! HE IS READY! <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Fjv1n3wf4PM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Anyway....cant wait to get the softwater season off to a start....COME ON ICE>>>>MELT!!! Should be able to do some shore fishing for Lakers in about 2 weeks though....time to get my arse in gear. Tight lines all.

  18. Brilliant!...love the rock throwing technique....i tried that once...realized i would need a freekin boulder to do the job though The boat shot is priceless....was gonna ask why they did not invite you in the boat...lol....even if there was room...like you i'd have stayed on shore. Great report...good job on the fish too....10/10
  19. Very sad news. I too am a little shell shocked as i never knew he was not well. Condolences to his family.
  20. I live in the NW ontario and i hear a lot about the long gun registry. I dont hunt and have little clue to what the fuss is about. I did find this interesting....this is a local news report about an all candidate debate that happened recently All Candidates Forum in Dryden Draws Big Crowd Posted by BGW on Friday, April 15th, 2011 am 10:36:17 AM It got a little testy at times during last night's All-Candidates forum for the Federal Candidates in the Kenora Riding. It was a packed house at the Dryden Legion. The highlight of the evening for some came when a member of the audience related how her husband had been charged and convicted on a firearms offense, said she knew all about the long gun registry but surely it wasn't the only issue facing voters. She challenged each candidate to describe the single most important issue in the riding without mentioning the gun registry. Her question drew a resounding ovation from the audience.
  21. LOL...Dryden aint in the running either.
  22. Hi all, Well the thaw is well and truly underway here. Gone from 2 feet of snow to bare lawn in just 2 weeks. Fishing has been pretty much on the back burner with family and work taking up most of my time. Its really cool to watch Jack experience the change in seasons. He totally grasps the concept of winter/spring/summer and fall. This morning he asked...OOOOH...daddy...wheres the snow? ice is melting.....byeboat coming....summer? That inspired me to fix together a photo/video of him in the last 2 weeks as he enjoyed being outside without freezing his poor little...erm..well freezing...lol. I know the song is titled "Cloudy", but i have always found it very uplifting and hopeful....it kinda strangely fits with the theme of spring.....hope you like it. FOR MUM...we love you <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Nj3CyZGlgGM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
  23. LOL...i have the OFC window open and a utube window open. My baby boy is on my lap listening to this on youtube...he is obsessed with Zambonis. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vVkJbvv3pHg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
