Nice report, looks like a fun day for sure

Sorry to bring this up again, I know it's been hacked to death around here but after the last round on this one I sent an email to Petro Canada to inquire about their Premium, this is the response I got:

That just blew through Long Sault, very heavy rain and strong winds. Lasted less than half an hour but it was packing a punch. No damage here that I can see though. Just before it hit I saw a boat booking it across the river and wondered, what's he running from? Guess he could see the dark clouds before we could. Stay safe and dry.

Weird PB for Me. Might be an Ontario record.

Welcome, this here's a great place for aspiring anglers like us

I've long heard about possible water from Ethanol fuels. I've been using Petro Can high test as I was sure they also are ethanol free, just their Tactrol additive which near as I can tell has been a good cleaning agent for all my small engines...hope I'm right about Petro Can. What annoys me is places like Sunoco that don't have it advertised on the pumps and their employees are clueless about what's in their product.

Felt that loud in clear at work in Ottawa. We were evacuated and sent home for the day as a precautionary measure while they inspect our buildings. So I strolled over to the local watering hole had a pint while waiting for the Mrs. to pick me up.

Ugh, this story makes me sick. Nothing worse than having something new and exciting spoiled so quickly and then to be blamed for it on top of that...unreal. I hope you get some satisfying resolution to this.

Wow, thanks for all the replies and great advice. A couple of folks have commented on the depth. The depth range that was suggested to me was 60 to 80 fow, but I think to get around the possibly problematic release next time I'll just bring him home for dinner As far as golf goes...well that's just a good place to have a few pints while out for a walk.

Thanks Fishburn, I knew I was forgetting something. I'm not so good with the names of this stuff yet so I snapped a lousy pic for ya She called it a bottom bouncer, put your favorite chartreuse spinner on the other side and add a worm.

Blasphemer You take that back!!

As I've said before I'm pretty new to fishing, this is really my first year trying to get serious with it, and so there's a whole lot of different fish that I have yet to catch. This post is a bit long winded but hey it's a first for me so hope you all don't mind me rambling on a bit. So far this year I've had a couple of good days of perch'n but then when Pickeral season opened up I made it my mission to catch me one of those bad boys. Problem is that I've been getting skunked real bad, I've probably been out on the St. Lawrence a half a dozen times and had absolutely nothing to show for it. I was trying everything I had in my tackle box in anywhere from 100' to 5' of water and nothing, nada, not so much as a nibble. This last Saturday was by for the worst, out on the water at 5:30 and tried for over 5 hours. After that I was feeling like quite the and was definitely starting to doubt whether I had it in me to keep trying. Well today I decided to drop into the local tackle shop because I needed a kit to replace the top guide on my rod. So I get to talking with the owner and ask her if she'd mind helping a clueless newbie out. She takes me around the store and shows me stuff I'd never even seen before and said try this setup and make sure you get out while the waters still choppy. I raced home, changed out the top guide and managed to hit the water at 6 tonight, wind was still up and the water had a nice bit of chop to it. About 20 minutes in on my second drift I pull in this beauty. 18" of fiesty Pickeral and he was kind enough to give me a couple good headshakes and runs on the way up. I was in about 65' - 70' of water and he was clearly bloated so I was a bit worried about the release but he practically jumped outta my hand and disappeared straight down. After that the wind died down, caught a rock bass and then that was it for the night. Anyway if you stuck it out this long thanks for reading. What a rewarding experience after getting shut down all those times, man I felt like a kid I was practically shaking with excitement after I got him in the boat

Mostly a slow paced game but the boys in orange seemed to control every minute of it. Now do I wait for the rain to stop or do I go out now and try and finally land my first walleye?

That's a whole lotta boat for Perch'n Congrats on the new boat, she's a beaut!

Good thread Luc, I've been wondering what I could do to secure the motor during transport. I wasn't even thinking about the stress on the transom I was just worried about the fact that my OB has no way to lock it in place so it doesn't swing during turns.

*sigh* a guy can always hope...

Sounds like a perfect opportunity to reduce spending... Signed the petition, but when it comes to money I'm not sure politicians actually care about what we think.

Had the same thing when I bought my boat last fall...the guy was selling it for his dad and they had no idea where the ownership for the trailer was, he'd had the boat for many, many years and that piece of paper was long gone. ***disclaimer I dunno what the proper way to do this is*** but he went down to the MTO and stated that he had a home built trailer and got a permit and then signed it over. I could've done it myself, apparently, and avoided paying tax on the value of the trailer but I didn't want my name on the claim that it was home built. Might be an option for you.

Sure I'll bite, haven't posted anything around here in a while. My perch fry from mid last month. Had a great morning on the St. Lawrence, caught over 30 perch that day and these were the keepers.

I use Mozy www.mozy.com it's fantastic. Automatically uploads any changed or new files in directories that you mark for backing up, or you can set it to backup based on file type ie: all JPGs, MP3s, whatever... The first upload will take some time, mine was 20GB and it trickled out over a few days, but after that the updates are usually very quick. I had to use it a few months back after I blue-screened and had to re-install my OS. Recovery was flawless, again took awhile to get that 20GB back down but it was well worth the $5 a month I'm paying. My only issue so far, if you bulk move files from one directory to another where both are set to back up I'm pretty sure it freaks out and starts uploading files instead of just moving them around in the backup location... Otherwise it gets the old two thumbs up

I'll answer my own question The easiest way is to drop the LU, pull the bearing housing. Decide that the bearings need replacing, order those and a new O-ring for the housing. Replace the impeller, housing, gaskets, etc... No sense going half- Bearings come in tomorrow, should be able to take'r for a test run tomorrow night. Thank God my father-in law is mechanically inclined, he runs a car restoration shop, cause I was in way over my head on this one.

I'm hoping someone can offer a bit of advice. My replacement propeller seals came in and now I'm trying to remove the old ones and I cannot figure these things out. What can I do to remove these seals, bearing in mind I haven't dropped the lower unit, and I'd really rather not if it can be avoided. Does the bearing housing need to be pulled to do this? Or do I just need to get more creative with tearing these things out. So far I've been very conservative just trying to pry the top one out but all I've managed to do is pull the spring and inner ring out...the outside ring won't budge. I've seen posts online about drilling holes and using screws but that seems like a last resort to me... EDIT: Sorry forgot to add it's a 1989 Johnson 30HP 2 stroke J30RCED Anyway, any advice that you guys can offer this morning would be appreciated

Bon Echo has always been my favorite park. There's some nice hiking trails, great beaches and Mazinaw Lake offers lots of shore fishing and fairly reasonable boat rental rates from Smart's Marina if you're happy with a small tinny just to get off the shore.
