  1. I won't be in Algonquin for opener for the first time in 4 years. I'm going back to my former opener spot to try and beat my P.B. below. I gave Algonquin a fair chance to beat it in a lake with an average size of 2lbs but couldn't manage anything over 4lbs. I'm looking for a 7lber this year! Can't wait!
  2. What about spring thaw? There may not be any thing to melt. No flooding, low water levels? But every winter is different. Next year we'll probably see record cold temperatures.
  3. I'll 2nd the French. My wife and I camp/ fish there 5 times a year. It's awesome. No electricity though.
  4. I got dinged with an impaired 10 years ago and I go a cross the border all the time. They even asked me about my history and I told them. I think your buddy did something more serious or he hasn't even tried to cross.
  5. Thanks for that Lund red book. I found a couple boats in my price range. 1825 Rebel XL sport and 1675 Impact Sport. Both boats come with a 2011 90Hp 4 stroke Mercury outboard. I'm going to look at them next week. Any thoughts/ suggestions? Thanks
  6. Thanks guys, I will check out Hastings marine for sure. I'm really excited about this purchase. I've been fishing from a 14' open boat for the last 2 years, a 12' before that for 3 years and a canoe before that for 15 years. I'm ready to treat myself and the wife.
  7. Yeah, that PRO V is real sweet but it's $10,000 more than I'm willing to spend. I would like a new 2010 model but I can't seem to find any. Does anyone know a dealer/ marina that has new older models? Any where in southern Ontario is fine. Thanks
  8. Hey everyone. I've been looking into boats and have decided that I definately want a Lund. I don't know exactly what model yet but it has to fit in my garage. I'm thinking 17'-18' with a fold away tongue. Also thinking 115Hp. I want a new boat but maybe 2010 model to cut down on cost. I want a full windshield so that i can fish in the colder, rainy conditions with more comfort than I'm used to. I've been looking everywhere and haven't seen a lot in the price range I'm looking for ($20,000-$25,000). Does anyone know where I can find what I'm looking for? I'm going to go to the spring fishing show next weekend to look again at any boats that will be there. Thanks for any help.
  9. I just did my floor and yes I put a varnish on it. It turned out real nice. Spar varnish I think its called. Got it at home hardware. It's made for marine applications. I don't even want to cover it now because I looks so nice.
  10. Ok, after some research and reviews I've decided to hold off on my purchase. I will be buying a 18-19' aluminum boat this year just not this weekend. I really want brand new but I've been on the Internet and have seen a few new 2010 models with drastically reduced prices so I think I'll go that direction. Thanks for all the opinions and replies, I really appreciate it. I'll show it off when I finally make my purchase.
  11. Yeah, I'm upgrading to a 115 4 stroke.
  12. I was at the boat show today and I'm really considering a Legend 18 Xtreme. In fact, I'm taking my wife back to the show Sunday morning to put a down payment and sign the papers unless I get a bunch of negative feedback from you guys/ gals. I've never been in a legend until today but they seem real nice and very well priced compared to some others. I've always had my heart set on a Lund, but after seeing the difference in prices, I don't think you get the money's worth. Any and all comments from everyone will be very much appreciated. I know that there's a ton of knowledge here and I respect everyone's opinion on my upcoming purchase. Thanks
  13. Hey Billy bob, what is this "safe is" you speak of? Why don't you spell check your post before you make fun of others spelling.
  14. I've had luck on LOTW with gold rapala shad 6", Cisco color magnum 6", fire tiger magnum 8", and crappie pattern granma 10". Good luck, I might be up there at the same time. I go every year. Usually end of September.
  15. Actually, trophy musky are said to be fish of 10,000 casts. Nice catch
  16. Loser has to wear a t-shirt with the winning fish and fisherman on it. Loser pays for the shirt and printing on it. My wife and I have a couple shirts with each other on them and the loser has to wear it to a family function and explain why they have a picture of them holding a fish. It's fun
  17. By far, the best fuel stabilizer is not STA-BIL, it's............FRESH START. I did my own 2 year study and FRESH START is the only thing that truely works. You can only get it at TSC or SEARS
  18. Thanks guys, I love the French, don't want to travel the extra hour either to get to sturgeon falls. What about the mouth of the key river or in that area? Anyone know any RV parks north of Parry sound, south of Sudbury? On Georgian Bay?
  19. I've been tent camping in the French river for the last 15 years and was thinking about buying a trailer and parking it somewhere on the French. I found a couple parks to check out but wanted to ask here first. Does anyone know a good RV park on the French/ pickerel river? Somewhere with lots of water to explore? I don't want to be trapped between a couple sets of rapids. Thanks for any info
  20. Go buy a mepps aglia spinner. They catch pike, bass, perch, walleye, Muskie, and trout and all you have to do is, cast out, and reel in. I think it would be the best lure for anyone just starting out. I like gold and red for sunny days and silver blade for overcast days.
