I was fishing Canal lake with my wife 2 or 3 weeks ago. We didn't have any luck. I was looking for pike. We found nice weeds free spot with a lot of pan fish, but no predators. balsam would be a better choice in my opinion.

I used to fished that lake during spring time for last 3 years. Always had a great success for pike. During summer time traffic on the lake is too heavy. Bass is also in this lake in good numbers. I caught only 1 small walleye long time ago.

I had pretty much same situation. It was air matress as well. I got it replaced with new one, and return new one back to different CT store - so they gave me store credit.

I caught pike, small mouth, crappies. People told that trout is in the lake as well.

I am really happy with my Humminbird 597 hd, but as you said - it tough to read with split screen - gps/finder mode. Had Lowrance 4 as ice fishing unit - it's pretty good too, but it's really hard to beat a big screen and good resolution.

Was fishing with downriggers today. Got 5 fish in boat. All fishing came on natural colors - perch and herring spoons in 90 fow, riggers were at 70 fow and 80 fow.

Thank you guys, I am adding picture of same starter as i have to clarify things. Hope this will help. Just want to confirm before doing something wrong. Proper way to oil it will be pull a plastic cap and clean everything from that shaft and oil it after, right? What about that spring which is under the cap, if i am turning it clockwise or conter clockwise - i can see the difference and can hear it as well. Looks like it's not pressing to hard or does press to hard depend which direction you go. Is any way how to set it right? What kind of oil i should use? Hi guys, Looking to get some wise advise from knowledgeable people. I do have Johnson 2003 25 hp with electric start. Motor was running perfectly fine, until I turned plastic cap on top of the starter's pinion gear couple times preparing it to season - stupid move but I wasn't thinking that this can do something to motor at that point. Now once I am starting it - it starts fine, but that pinion gear(sorry if I am not correct) didn't go down fast enough and for 1 or 2 seconds it's making weird sound. I was trying to turn clockwise small plastic cap on top of it same one I turned originally, but I can't set it properly. Can someone, please, give me instructions how to do that? Also I would like to know if I need to lubricate shaft with spring under that plastic cap? Thank you very much

Spent 3 hours yesterday evening trying to catch a pike on Cooks, was dead slow. Saw couple perch following my lure - that was it.
