  3. I am...our little one has two birthday parties to go to today...so I'm out pretty much from 11 til 6...leaving a quiet house for her...LOL.
  4. Ok Ok Ok...I didn't get that cake. It was taken off the internet and I had to photoshop "Grandpa" off the bottom of it... But if I could make one like that...I'd try...LOL.
  5. It's a few hours early, but I wanted to be the first to wish my wife and favourite fishing partner a very happy birthday! I know you'd rather be out on the creeks, so hopefully this cake will tie you over until they clear.
  6. Hey Ryan!!! Happy Birthday!!! Guess it's safe to say you are not out fishing in this downpour and 50k + winds. Hope you have a great day!
  7. Happy belated birthday!! Hope you have a great time in Cuba!!! You too Kemper....except for the cuba thing....LOL
  8. Wow...a trib I cant spit across!! Love that kind of location! Great pics.
  9. Rick..you jinxed it by bragging about it in the stats thread...LOL. I had that 'exceeded bandwidth' error for the past little while.
  10. What a fantastic post! Get her involved early...you'll have a fishing partner for life Ryan!! Great pics...especially the last one!
  11. You mean site? http://coastwatch.glerl.noaa.gov/modis/mod...on=o&page=1
  12. OWWWW!!!! Sprained my index finger...and you said no one gets hurt......
  13. I should...I didn't catch anything up there without her....LOL. We use those glow sticks...put them on top of the floats...when you don't see them anymore it's time to set the hook...LOL. Thanks...most nights it's a bust. More challenging as you can't see what your line is doing, but it can be done with practice.
  14. Would have to be fishing with my Dad again. Six months before he passed away from cancer, he took me on the last fishing trip of his life. A charter on Lake O for lake trout. I'd love to re-live that day... Here's a pic of his last fish ever caught...a bright moment during a very difficult time.
  15. Hmmm....and your team has now many fish entered??? Well...seems to be bigger than any fish you've caught... Hey Spiel...who's team are you on? You're not supposed to make fun of your own captain!! Roe....as stinky as you can get it! It's all about scent at night.
  16. Nice new gear! Good luck in getting your first...you'll never forget it!!!
  17. Isn't fishing just like hunting....only with a better catch and release survival rate?
  18. Well, after our success earlier in the week, we decided that we'd head out again tonight. The conditions were about the same...pretty good visibility, waters a little faster than normal, but we had a pretty good feeling about it. We started drifting for a bit and it didn't seem like anything was around. Bly had some line tangle issues and was trying to fix that when my float when down....FAST! I set the hook and this fish went crazy!!! It swam to the other side of the bank in about 2 seconds...jumped high into the air and then came straight at me like a bullet! It jumped again close to the bank and I thought the fight was over. It looked like it was going to jump right out of the water and on the bank. But it quickly recovered and jumped yet again in the middle of the pool. Finally, I was able to bring it in nice and easy. Anyhow, here's an entry to team 10...a 32.5" steelhead. After that was done, we got Bly's line issues resolved, I had a break off and had to re-tie. Don't you know it, she says fish on and she's fighting a monster as well! This one looked like it was going to take a bee line to the next pool down stream, but she expertly turned the fish around...managed to avoid a bunch of rocks and brought it closer. Here's a pic near the end of the fight. She lands her new personal best Steelhead, coming in at 32" even and weighing about 12 to 13 pounds!! Another entry for team 1 in the tourney. I landed another smaller 18" fish, but didn't bother with a picture. All in all, 2 hours on a nice warm spring night...cant beat it...especially when there's fish involved.
  19. As it got later, it did get colder and colder...and the water is freezing!! I was exhausted...up at 5am for work and then out fishing at night... Last weekend it was you kickin our butt!!! We decided to try another trib, thinking the home trib would be slow...when I saw your report I
  20. Hey EHG...that's funny...because I'm always amazed at your dead of winter soft water Lake O reports!!! I still haven't had the guts to try that yet... Thanks Kennyman...we are not legends...what I didn't report on is that we were out 4 times in the past few weeks at night and only caught 2 fish bigger than our fists...LOL Didn't have to tell Sydney...she read your post Cliff and yelled out "YAY!!!!" Yep...we use glow sticks. Shhh.....lol You know what I'm talking about....LOL. One out of two isn't bad....we are not pros....we got lucky that night...right place right time...but my daughter is cherubic. Thanks! Burtress and Camillj...I can honestly say there was no photoshopping in this report....LOL.
  21. Wow...nice pike!!! Great seeing soft water reports again....
  22. I was on the 401 heading east when the motorcade was heading west last week. All traffic on my side had stopped...horns honked and then I saw something that was very powerful. Out of the window of one of the bereaved family's cars, a single arm came out...hand balled into a fist and it pumped in the air a few times before it gave a wave of appreciation. I'll never forget that sight.
  23. I've never tried it, but I've heard of people using minnows under a float for Pike. Cant's see why it wouldn't work....it works for icefishing.
  24. Yep...what BillM said. I use 30lb power pro for mainline and either steel or titanium leaders (12 inch). The steel ones crimp easy...the titanium resists that, so even though they are more expensive, they last a lot longer.
  25. Great report! Family and fishing...doesn't get much better than that!
